Re: IT'S HERE!

I used to pay Miracle Ear, and/or Costco, many thousands of dollars for hearing aids - then I switched over to the VA for health care and now I get new hearing aids every 3 years for free (thank you, taxpayers!) My current ones are Signia brand from Siemens, with bluetooth interface to my phone.

Re: 89 Cruise problem

I just fixed this issue on my bike: the Cruise on light would light up when I hit that switch; the Cruise Set would light up when I hit THAT switch; each of the cancel switches would properly turn the Cruise Set light off; the only thing that wouldn't work was the cruise itself - it would not grab t...

Re: Weight

I have no idea how much my sidecar weighs, but when we go out riding the driver's seat has about 180 lbs on it and the sidecar seat has about 200 lbs in it - we have no problem keeping up with traffic and average around 30 mpg...

We'll be there most of the day - our grandson has a soccer game from 1pm to 2 pm so we need to leave around noon, but we'll be back after the game!

Re: Anyone from Sacramento or the Bay?

Hey, bluthundr31 - I think I mentioned this before but you're more than welcome to come and check out our GWRRA chapter - the Silicon Valley Wings! In fact, we're having our annual yard sale next weekend (May 3, 4) - no ride involved, but many of our members will be there if you want to meet up. If ...

Re: Radio/CB backup circuit killing battery

Want a nice little tool for finding out how much current is flowing through various cicuits? Check out this tool from Harbor Freight. You pull the fuse from the circuit in question and plug this guy in it's place - it'll tell you how much current is flowing, up to 30A.

Re: HUNTING IDLE, DEAD SPOT OFF IDLE

My '94 had the same issues: with a very light hand on the throttle I could turn it a few degrees with no response, then suddenly it would jump up to around 1200-1500 rpm. Had a slight surge at idle also idling from about 850 - 1000 rpm. Then it started really acting up: come off the freeway after a ...

Thanks CWN! Those studs aren't misplaced - they're right in the tray where I put them when I took them off! I figured it was something that simple! Here's a photo of the old sub filter:

Re: I'm feeling dark... new Austone Taxi Tire

Mine did that also - I read here that it is the inner fender contacting the tire. I was going to take everything apart again to deal with it, but we were having too much fun riding and I kept putting it off. After a while the noise went away so I figured the tire took care of the interference all by...

Re: Cruise Control maintenance

The new filters came in today and are now in the bike. It looks like they had been replaced not long before I bought the bike 2+ years ago: the cruise filter was clean and soft; the sub filter was also clean - it was bright yellow in color and looked like it had never had any oil on it so I wonder i...

Re: Cruise Control maintenance

Thanks guys - I've got to figure out how to lift the air box up about 1/4" so I can move that line. I'm convinced that I know who did the "good" work - I had taken the bike to a mechanic who was allegedly a Goldwing expert for an idle surge issue. He said he noticed that the sliders were sticking so...

Re: Cruise Control maintenance

No can do - that tab on the bottom of the air cleaner box has 2 "legs" that go down well below the bolt on both sides. I'll need to lift the whole air box up to get the vacuum line out of there - good thing I'm retired - I've got plenty of time!

Re: Cruise Control maintenance

So, I've ordered new cruise and sub filters (they should be here by the weekend) and I figured I may as well start disassembling the bike. Got everything taken off and tried to see if there was anything obvious that would make the cruise control inoperative and I did find something suspect: there is...

Re: Drivers test bike

My RD 350 was a little too light. In a cross wind I sometimes had trouble keeping lane position. It was a great first bike and stepping up to the XS 750 was an easy transition. The 2 stroke 350 required me to keep both hot and cold plugs. Hey Jump Wings! I smile every time I see your avatar - I was...

Re: A new bike...

So, it looks like Suzuki has removed the pillion seat back - we had a 2003 Burgman 400 and it had a nice backrest for the passenger, while the 650 did not. My wife felt a lot more comfortable on the back of the 400. Does the 400 still have the engine mounted to the swingarm? Makes for a really low c...

Re: Insurance providers for sidecar rigs

We've been with Geico forever - when we had a Ural, the sidecar was covered as part of the bike because it was built that way; with the Goldwing we had to declare it as an accessory, but they had no problem covering it.

It looks Like I'm going to have to strip off a lot of tupperware to get to the cruise connections, so I might as well go ahead and change out the subfilter and cruise filter while I'm in there - I have no idea how old those things are, I've owned the bike for a little over 2 years now and haven't ch...

The bike I learned to ride on was a 2003 Burgman 400 - it could do freeway speeds with my wife on the back (I won't say how much we weigh together!) and was a fun ride.

Re: Cruise Control maintenance

Y - Check easy things first. And if you have a My-t-Vac for bleeding your brakes, you could hook it to the Cruise actuator and put some vacuum to it to see if it moves the throttle. That would check the mechanical side of things. Good idea! I was wondering if there was an easy way to check the actu...
