Re: Ignition key

I'm not understanding this talk about replacement keys - when we bought our '94 GL1500SE it came with one key. I took that key to the local hardware store. They put the key into their fancy machine and cut a brand new copy - charged me $2.50 if I recall. That copy has been working for me ever since....

Re: Rear car tire for GL1500SE tug

Alan: I see that you have the same sidecar as mine. How does this tire affect the riding? Truthfully, I don't notice any major changes from the old Dunlop Elite II tire that was on the bike. The bike still sits level as best as I can tell, although I never thought to actually measure before and aft...

Re: Bike/Trailer wobble

I'm by no means an expert on trailer towing with a bike, but I've got over 40 years experience towing with cars and trucks. If bikes follow the same "rules" then you need to make sure that the tongue weight is between 12% and 17% of the total trailer weight - trying to stay closer to the upper end. ...

Re: Rear car tire for GL1500SE tug

I went through this a few months ago - researched it for weeks and decided that a Kumho PA31 in 195/60R16 was the tire to try, so I got one online for around $78 or so. When it arrived I started disassembling the back end of the bike. I was ready to mount the tire and decided to try and fit the tire...

Re: 80 lb dog on the passenger seat??

The absolute best solution for bringing your furbabies on a ride is a sidecar! They are completely safe in the hack, and can sit or lay down as they prefer! Not to mention all the attention you'll get...

Re: Honda Intercom or Bluetooth, what is better?

Thanks, Rwilkerson - so it sounds like if I get a single Freewire then I can get full use out of the CB - I assume that the bluetooth between our helmets would still work, but my wife would not be able to hear the CB. I guess the other option would be to keep things as they are: we can talk to each ...

Re: Honda Intercom or Bluetooth, what is better?

The Sena freewire allows you to use all the bikes audio, that includes the CB. Questions regarding the Freewire: my wife and I have the BILT Techno 2.0 helmets from Cycle Gear with built-in Sena bluetooth, and they work great as an intercom system. When on group rides we can turn up the volume on t...

The tongue length must be 1.5 times the width of the axle.
Is that length measured from the front of the trailer, or from the axle?

Re: Dyna Beads vs Counteract Balancing Beads

I saw 2 - 2oz bags or counteract beads on Amazon and figure it can't hurt to ask before I buy just in case. Be careful - there's a company on Amazon selling the beads, and everything on their page indicates that they are selling a kit of 2 2oz bags, but when you look REAL closely at the Product Det...

Or call parts and service at 1-434-263-8877

Or do they just offer trike kits now?

Awesome site, and I really appreciate the How-to section - it's a lifesaver (at least a moneysaver!). One thing I'd like to see is all those how-to articles being available on DVD so we can have access to them if we're somewhere without internet access. Ideally they would be cataloged by bike model,...

Re: Save My Lenses - Headlight restoration

I've been using Turtle Wax Bug & Tar Remover and a microfiber cloth on our cars lately - it does a great job of clearing up the haze on the headlight lenses. gonna try that. My method is to spray a bit onto the microfiber cloth, then start wiping the lens - it takes a few minutes to clear up, but t...

Re: Honda Intercom or Bluetooth, what is better?

My wife and I recently purchased new helmets - got the BILT Techno 2.0 modular with built-in Sena DWO-5 system. They work great, sound great, and have outstanding battery life. They are paired to each other for intercom use, and we each have our own phones paired to our own helmets as well. We found...

Re: She is finally on the road.

No counter-steering. it is like a cage now, you want to turn left you turn the handlebars left, this creates side forces which the motorcycle was not designed for, especially the steering. It's ALMOST like a cage - a difference being: when you roll on the throttle it wants to move to the right, and...

Thanks everyone - I'm pretty much convinced that the "mechanic" who tried to fix my idle surge issue most likely did not reconnect the actuator properly - when I get time I'll be tearing the tupperware off the front to check it out. Yet another cruise control issue...

I guess I'll start a thread concerning my cruise control issue. For background I've got a '94 GL1500SE with 70,000 miles on it. The good: * The ON switch turns the ON light on with no problem. * The SET switch turns the SET light on with no problem. * The clutch lever, brake lever, brake pedal, and ...
