Re: Rear Tire Removal...Help

I just installed the Austone, and have only taken it on a short test ride so far - about 25 miles. I don't feel any difference in the ride, acceleration seems to be the same, and performance feels the same pretty much everywhere. The only issue I have is if I hit a pothole or bump in the road the ti...

Re: Rear Tire Removal...Help

I went with the Austone tire - 175R16. I actually bought a Kumho PA31 195/60R16 based on recommendations from several people, but once I got it I took some measurements and could not see how a 195 tire could fit in a 185 swing arm. Some people insisted that it would fit - just deflate it and wrap it...

Re: Rear Tire Removal...Help

I just put a new tire on the back of my '94 - using the how-to instructions from this site. The only thing I did different was to remove the rear fender, cross brace, and trailer hitch. With those out of the way the wheel and tire can come out and go back in from the rear. I used the center stand to...

Congratulations! I won a raffle once - back in 1970. It was a drawing held by the US Selective Service and I was drawn as #8 ... won a 2-year tour with all expenses paid, starting in Jan 1971!

Alan, , are any of the BT-S2 headsets working well, other than the "clip" broke? I'm interested in getting a "back-up" headset and I'm wondering if we might work out something?

PM me if possible, , , ,

Re: Darksider Wannabe

If you decide on the Kumho, let me know - I've got an unused one in my garage that I need to sell. I bought it for my GL1500 but then decided to go with the Austone tire. I'd like to get around $75 for it, plus shipping but I'll listen to any reasonable offer.

Re: Help with helmet headsets, please!

We've bought 2 sets of the inexpensive Chinese bluetooth systems - battery life was an issue for us: they lasted about 2 hours on the road so I ended up installing some USB ports so we could recharge the units whenever we stopped. But then a bigger issue popped up: the clip that held the unit to the...

When I had cataract surgery a couple of years ago they gave me a pair of sunglasses that pretty much surround my eyes on all sides - I've been using them ever since!

Re: I'm feeling dark... new Austone Taxi Tire

I just put an Austone on my 1500 as well, but haven't had a chance to test it out yet. In my case, with a sidecar, there's no leaning so handling should not be an issue - I'm mostly looking at longevity because sidecars are REALLY rough on the pusher tire...

Re: Dyna Beads vs Counteract Balancing Beads

Be careful when ordering the CounterAct beads from Amazon. I recently ordered a kit - the ad on Amazon showed a package that indicated it included 2 packs of beads, each pack being 2 ounces. When the kit arrived it contained 2 packs of beads - each pack being ONE ounce of beads. Researching the issu...

Re: putting the rear tire back on

Alan what direction did you have manipulate the swing arm. Last time I put support under it, but maybe I am going the wrong way. Right now the I can feel the bolt on the inside of the shock, so it is close, but I am not sure of the swing arm has to come up or go down. If I recall, the hole in the s...

Re: putting the rear tire back on

I ran into the same problems just this week - I put the wheel back on, but was not sure if it was engaging the splines or not. My solution was to put the transmission in gear and try to spin the rear wheel by hand - if it didn't spin I figured the splines were meshed. Then I tried to push the shock ...

I haven't been successful getting mine up on the center stand - I guess the sidecar adds too much weight for me to lift it up onto the stand!

Dark side tire for sale

I've got a new, unused Kumho PA31 tire - size 195/60R16 - for sale. I bought it to put on my GL1500 but it's a bit too wide to fit. Apparently it's a popular tire for the GL1800. It has never been mounted on a wheel and I'd like to get $75 plus shipping. It's located in San Jose, Ca so if you're loc...

Re: First ride to work, first attempted homicide, against me

Not all were people texting some just said I am do sorry I just wasn't paying attention. That can be directly attributed to modern technology - people are no longer being taught how to drive; the cars are doing most of the work for them so they feel they can concentrate on more important things, li...

Re: Cell service around Lake Superior

My personal experience is that Verizon has the best coverage for calls, at least, in the States. However I must defer to others for advice on service or charges in Canada. While visiting various wireless stores, ask for clarification on emergency calls, as it is my understanding that even if you ar...

Re: How to remove and replace your rear wheel

Thanks, Wingadmin - finally got it out. A combination of one person pulling on the left side with a screwdriver and me on the right side with a drift and a hammer. I had thought about prying the swing arm apart but wasn't sure if that was going to break something. I did find out it's time for a new ...

Re: How to remove and replace your rear wheel

Okay - I'm in the middle of this job now. I'm at the point of removing the axle and it isn't happening. I've tried it with the rear tire off the ground, and with some weight on it - I can hit the right end of the axle with a hammer and it moves a mm or so, then the whole wheel tries to move to the l...

Re: 1999 Goldwing SE battery fail

If the battery is charging then it's drawing current - we use a 1450 in our cars and if the Garmin's battery is not fully charged then it will charge, if there is power to the unit. If it's plugged in to a port that is shut down with the ignition then it should not draw any current, though.

Re: Getting a 93 Aspencade running after 4 years sitting

During bleeding sometimes I would get some resistance in the pedal, but then it went limp again next push of it. I had the same issue when I bled my clutch - went through a whole bottle of fluid and had no pressure. I used a bungie cord and tied the lever up against the grip overnight and the next ...
