Re: eyeglasses with a snug helmet... any tips??

I had cataract surgery several years ago and no longer wear glasses for distance vision - I do use reading glasses for close-up stuff. My wife and I get reading glasses from the local Dollar Store - for a buck apiece we keep some in almost every room in the house!

Re: First post lockdown run

The old gravestones fascinate me and also bring home just how fortunate we are today. There were so many there for children and young adults. And that is the main reason that life expectancy was so much shorter back then - not because the average person didn't live as long, but rather there were a ...

Re: What is this switch for?

Harbor Freight sells a nice little circuit tester that can help you figure out if the switch is powering anything. If there is nothing apparent, such as a light or a fan or something, then find the fuse that is connected to this switch and replace it with this tester - when you activate the switch t...

How to price a bike for sale

So, we've decided to sell our sidecar rig - it's a 1994 GL1500SE with a California Sidecar Friendship I hack - we have an idea of what we'd like to get for it. I've looked for 1994 GL1500SEs online, but there doesn't seem to be any for sale right now. KBB says that a dealer would ask about $5150 for...

If you have a sewing machine you can reinforce the edge by folding it over, adding a bit if heavier material along the edge, and running some good, tight, stitching down the entire edge.

Generally speaking - if your license makes you legal in your home state then you're legal in all 50 states.

Does the front open on that car to climb in?
No, it doesn't - one must step in over the side rail. My wife uses a portable folding stool to get in and out.

Re: 1994 GL1500SE with California Sidecar Friendship I

Thanks, Al - we hate to sell it, but hate even more to see it sit in our garage unused for a year or two. Once the wife is done with her various surgeries and rehab we'll most likely look for another rig, with a sidecar that is easier to get into and out of...

1994 GL1500SE with California Sidecar Friendship I

Well, due to my wife's issues with bulging discs in her back, and hips that need replacing she can no longer climb in and out of this sidecar. The rig will sit in our garage for at least a year, or someone else can enjoy it. It's a 1994 GL1500SE with about 70K miles on it. We've owned it for about 5...

Re: Canyon Dancer Handlebar Cup tiedown helper

I've got an old Canyon Dancer strap, before they put that plastic cap on them, and have been told by several people that they are bad for the bars because they put too much stress on them - do these plastic caps eliminate that complaint?

I can guarantee you that you WILL pay that (or more...) as you are along California Highway 1 (CA-1), in Big Sur, for example. My wife and I toured the northern half of Hwy 1 about 2 years ago - from San Francisco up to Legget and back. Back then gas was selling for around $3.75 or so in most place...

I think I've got a coolant leak

So, the bike (1994 GL1500SE) has been sitting for a few months and we went to start it for the local Veterans Day parade - did the normal pre-ride inspection and everything looked good. Started it up and let it run while we got suited up and backed it out of the garage. Then we noticed steam coming f...

My 1994 SE won't cancel the turn signal while I am not moving - but once moving again the normal triggers are active. So, as you're pulling up that that stopped traffic at a light it will cancel once the triggers are met; if it's still blinking when you become stationary it will remain blinking unti...

I ride with SCRC in Canada. We had an SCRC chapter here for years, and we were pretty close group. He was constantly getting into dangerous situations and finally our F...

Kinda makes the emergency escape route plan a little more tricky though. Yeah, I haven't been able to master the art of flying the chair - and don't think I could ever fly it high enough to split lanes! I also watch my mirrors more than anything when stopped. Somebody pulls up behind me I am off an...

I am the same , both feet down, I'm always wary of dropping the beast, all is against me, old git, short legs, not got the muscles I used to have.
