Re: WHEN NEW BATTERY IS CONNECTED, LIGHTS COME ON

Thanks for your reply. I've been riding this bike for about five years and have a few other batteries, but none of the previous batteries produced this problem. There is no lights on-off switch. Normally, all the lights go on when you turn the key on, and go off when you turn the key off. Until now....

Re: WHEN NEW BATTERY IS CONNECTED, LIGHTS COME ON

+1 on Virgilmobile's idea. Sounds like maybe you got a small spark when removing the old battery or installing the new one and caused the relay to stick. Take the relay cover off and try tapping on the relays with a screwdriver handle to see if one is stuck. Russell Those who say it cannot be done ...

Re: WHEN NEW BATTERY IS CONNECTED, LIGHTS COME ON

Is there any chance that a wire was left off the battery post..like an additional ground or hot wire? There are no additional wires or cables on the battery posts, other than the two lines to the battery maintainer. I took them completely off, and all the lights still went on when re-attached the b...

Re: WHEN NEW BATTERY IS CONNECTED, LIGHTS COME ON

so you re installed the old battery, and it was normal each time, and the lights only come on when you connect the AGM, or do the lights come on now, regardless of which battery you connect. No, I did not re-install the old battery, as I left it for disposal at the NAPA shop where I bought the new ...

WHEN NEW BATTERY IS CONNECTED, LIGHTS COME ON

I replaced my old battery in my 1995 GL 1500 SE with the sealed AGM type. Easy, right? Take out old battery, put in new battery, connect battery cables from bike to the correct terminals on the battery. That is what I did, and all the lights came on. I was surprised and thought immediately I must ha...

Re: Use an auto tire on the front wheel of a trike?

Thanks, Oldishwinger, for your response. I sure would appreciate it if you would put your comment on the site again, because I only got the very last part of one sentence, which was not enough to understand what you meant. Please let me have it again. Thanks !

Use an auto tire on the front wheel of a trike?

My ride is a 1995 GL 1500 SE Roadsmith Trike. It is time for a new tire on the front wheel. I have heard that using an auto tire on the front wheel provides greater strength and increased mileage. I have also heard that some trikers put on a motorcycle REAR tire on the front but put it on backwards....

Re: BATTERY CELLS GOING DRY

Many thanks to all eight fellow Wingers who have left me good suggestions. I will follow-up on all. Several months ago I had a local fellow-rider (Way more experienced than I since he's been riding and maintaining and repairing bikes his entire life - if it weren't for him I'd be a total gonner!) in...

BATTERY CELLS GOING DRY

My ride is a 1995 GL 1500 SE with a Roadsmith Trike conversion. I put in a new NAPA battery about two months ago. During the first month we took a ride a few days in length, and after returning the engine would not start, typical dead battery but strange because it was so new; I discovered the cells...

Re: HELP WITH HELMET SOUND SYSTEM !

Thanks for your input, prtfndr. It came at a good time, as we have been wavering about turning in our Sena 20s and getting the Sena 10s. The SENA 20s seem kind of complicated to operate.

HELP WITH HELMET SOUND SYSTEM !

We have only been Goldwing Riders for about three years so there is still SO MUCH WE DON'T KNOW. Our ride is a 1995 GL 1500 SE with a Roadsmith Trike conversion. We live in Southwest Utah, 3 hours closer to Las Vegas than to Salt Lake City. My wife and I just returned from a ride to San Francisco, s...

Upgrading of GL 1500 Alternator

With additional LED lights and accessories added to my 1989 Gl1500 Trike, the alternator can't keep up with the current flow required. I have read that these early 89 1500s have weak Alternators anyway. Any one out there who can recommend where I can get the strongest and best new Alternator for my ...
