Re: weeping hole

those are two very usefull threads and thx for that as they explain clearly what's going on with the water pump , it will probably be a long cold winter so removing and repairing the water pump will be on the list of things to do ,

Thx , Paul

Re: weeping hole

I hear you and understand & agree with what you are saying , it actually just slowed the seepage but never really stopped it as the q-tip is porous from what I have read as the oil is not under pressure & no signs of any coolant this might just be the o-ring from the motor side not sealing properly ...

Re: weeping hole

I had bought the bike in april this year and noticed the small quantity of oil below the bike when I parked it for a few days , even blocked the hole with a q-tip head which seemed to have stopped or atleast slowed the leak for a while as it's not under pressure , That was sort of my plan to repair ...

weeping hole

weeping hole So I have a little oil very slowly leaking from the weeping hole , the small hole just below the water pump , no signs of any coolant and from what I have read this might just be the o-ring from the motor side not sealing properly or the aluminium washers from the bolts on the engine si...

Re: Fuel pouring out of exhaust

Re: hydralock

Thanks for the advice , definitely convinced me to re-build the carbs before riding the bike again , I guess I have been lucky with not bending a con rod so far as this has happened probably 6 times in the last four mnths and I was thinking it was the starter , when I pulled the plug on the # 4 cyli...

Re: hydralock

9 times out of ten I make sure and turn off the petcock , but was wandering if this either stuck or not sealing float valve would cause the bike to hard start ,

4 mnths ago I purchased a 1976 honda gold wing , 15,000 miles on clock , during the last four mnths I have changed the points , checked valve clearance and ignition timing , the bike seemed to run better after the changes but one thing that has always occured occasionally since the four mnths is som...

Re: 1976 gl 1000 lack of power above 70 mph

yes , removed the points backing plate & checked the auto advance unit , it was working fine and gave it a spray of wd-40 , also had by-passed the filter with a direct line to the pump , have since replaced with a new filter , have run the bike with the gas tank cover off to make sure the cover was ...

1976 gl 1000 lack of power above 70 mph

Hello I recently purchased a 1976 GL 1000 , the bike looks like new and had only 15000 miles on the speedo , the bike came with full documentation and receipt for timing belt , water pump change in 2012 with 12, 000 miles , the bike hard starts and did not perform well , so I did valves set @ 4 thou...
