Re: 20% Chance of Rain

This is how it seems to work for me: If our STAR chapter schedules a ride for Saturday we watch the local weather forecasts for rain chances. If they (WBIR) forecast 40% or greater rain chances, then the ride gets cancelled. That 40% forecast to me....means that 40% of the area will likely get rain ...

Re: Regular or Premium

JMO: Bought my '08 GL1800 Navi (Motor Trike) two years ago. Was verbally told I should use mid-grade or higher, so for a year I did that. Perusing this and other forums I found that many people use "regular" and so I tried it. I have been using regular for the past year, no pings, no drop in mileage...

Re: Do you look thru

It's a personal choice. I changed from a "See Thru" to a "See Over" after a ride down the Cherohala Skyway about 8-9 years ago in a torrential rain storm. The rain on the windscreen and on my faceshield made seeing really difficult. That ride was the final straw for me. I ordered a shorter screen (I...

Re: Ball Mag-9 Helmet

Just snaps on/off, neat. I was afraid to pull on it in case I broke something.
JFI, I super glued the inner sun screen flip lever back on and it has (knock on wood) thus far worked perfectly.
Thank you for the video, exactly the info I needed.

Re: Bouncy bouncy

I probably should have mentioned, I installed the Harbor Freight 12inch wheels tires. I have been using 45 pounds in the trailer, I'll try 20. I'll have to wait until we return to do the spring leaf mod. Thank you for your info.

Bouncy bouncy

I have a Harbor Freight Tag-A-Long trailer. I have only used it once for an extended weekend trip. I am about to do another longer trip. It pulls very easy, tracks great and does not seem to affect my gas mileage very much. It does however bounce over even small imperfections. Would removing one of ...

Re: trailer hitch

JFI.....try RV and/or Camping World type stores for that isolator. I found my first one at WalMart, messed it up trying to install it with VERY unhelpful instruction sheet. Went to my local Camping World, bought another one and he told me what I was doing wrong (oops on me!!) and I installed that on...

Ball Mag-9 Helmet

What is the procedure/method for removing the visor (not the see thru shields) on the Mag-9. The Bell web site does not seem to have a support page but it does say the helmet can be used with/without the visor. The small flip down lever for the sun shield on the side of my helmet snapped off and I w...

Re: Going back to OEM from floor board & heal/toe shifter

It's a whole other thing on a trike. You don't have to put your feet down & bruise your shins on the stupid things. Don't want to turn this into an argument but my 2009 Venture came with floorboards and heel/toe shifter and only two wheels before I eventually had it triked. Lots of bikes come with ...

Re: Going back to OEM from floor board & heal/toe shifter

It's just a matter of getting used to the feel/position. I put them on my '08 MT Wing and prefer them. I also have Ergo III highway pegs and I can use the boards alone, slide my feet slightly forward on the FB's, put my heels on the FB's and my toes on the highway pegs or use the pegs alone. Lots of...

Re: Where does one hang a gremlin bell?

JMO: Hang it pretty much wherever you want on the bike. It's just one of those pieces of bling that some buy for the bike. It serves no useful purpose. It's kinda like buying any other gadget accessory for the bike, not really needed, just something you might want.

Re: UK Satnav coming to USA

I agree, buy a US Garmin for use while you are here. I (Personally) would not use a suction cup to mount. I'd get something a little more sturdy like a ram mount.

Re: Plastic bubble

Just curious.....I have no reference for anything that sounds like you have described. Not sure what it sounds like or feels like. My 2008 (trike) is very quiet and has no rattles, just the engine sounds and the wind flowing past.

Re: trailer wiring

May be difficult to isolate the problem without the schematic. I had a VERY difficult time (even with the schematic) connecting my Motor Trike round connector to the Harbor Freight Tag-a-long trailer. Turns out I was connecting the wrong end of the isolator to the MT round connector. No one seemed t...

Re: radio control switches on left pedals

I may not fully understand your query. I assume English is not your main language. If you are asking about the lack of CB and/or CB controls on your GL1800 be advised that not all models came with CB installed.

Re: GPS up date

Just my 2 cents worth: My 2008's navigation has been ignored by Honda. For considerably less than $95 (plus tax) I purchased another automotive Garmin with lifetime maps that I use. It is much easier to setup and use, can be turned on/off without being stopped.

Re: Trailer painting

Here is the finished rattle can paint job. I read an old (really old) post about someone doing this type of paint job. He said he did nothing to pre-prep except thoroughly clean the surface and that it turned out very well. I figured....go for it. I think it turned out pretty good. Took 5 cans of Ru...

Trailer painting

I have a new never used Harbor Freight Tag-a-long trailer. I would like to paint it but have been told that paint will not adhere well without some pre-preparation. What do I need to use and/or do in order to paint the trailer. I do not want to paint the entire trailer, only portions of it. The surf...

Re: Need some Trike advice

For jeffcosmo: You have not missed anything. All of the points you stated are valid. But they also are the reasons many/most prefer the "trike" conversion. In other words if you want a side car ride, then get a side car ride. If you want a trike ride, then get a trike ride. A few years ago I persona...

Re: Install Aux power for phone

I did the same thing with a USB port from Cycle Gear only I put the USB port on the right side of the handlebar where I mount an auto type GPS. Hardest part was fishing the cable/wires around the steering head, ensuring they don't get snared and damaged/cut.
