Re: Does Pacifico fairing use Honda headlight parts?
You guys can stop looking now, I found it. I had time to start working on the bike and I removed the fairing yesterday. Only the glass headlight and bulb is a real Honda part. The rest of the retainer ring and base and adjuster assemblies, and even the outer chrome trim ring are made only for the fa...

Re: Identifying correct fenders by year
Thanks Joneszy. I didn't think about the fender supports before. The different part numbers for the fenders is what started my search for the correct fender for my 78. Mine has an aftermarket accessory fiberglass fender on which I see was a popular option back in the day. I'll look at the fenders ag...

Identifying correct fenders by year
I have learned that 78-79 front fenders are the same and 75-77 are the same but I don't see any physical difference between them when looking at all the pictures available. Is there really any difference somebody can actually notice?

Does Pacifico fairing use Honda headlight parts?
Hi guys. I just picked up a 78 GL1000 today. I haven't done any disassembly on it yet. It's very stock except it has a Pacifico fairing on it. It also has its stock headlight bucket with nothing inside it except a lot of wires and the stock chrome fork ears still mounted in place. Does anyone here k...

Hi guys. I think RBGERSON has moved on to something else and is no longer here. He hasn't logged on this GoldwingDocs site in one and a half years now. He was a really good guy. He helped me a couple of times with answers to questions I had. Sorry to lose him.

Re: Honda emblem on fuel tank
Hi Bill. The Honda emblem is held on the inside of the false tank by two small speed nuts that push on over the two plastic studs on the back of the plastic emblem. Sorry but I think one of the little studs must have broken off if the emblem was hanging down like that.

Re: Need O-Ring Size for 1982 GL1100 Air Shocks
Hi Jimmy. Your description of the part you're talking about is confusing to everybody. The names of the parts you're using aren't called that by Honda. I suggest you post a picture here of the piece the O-ring fits into and we will be able to help you.

The O-ring you need is still available new from Honda. Order part number 91212-422-006. They're not expensive.

Re: Water pump replacement o-rings not listed
I have those part numbers for you. The tiny one around the 8mm dowel pin is Honda part #91361-706-000 superseded by Honda part #91352-SA5-952. Both numbers are valid and both are the identical part still available new from Honda. The bigger one on the other side of the engine is Honda part #91333-56...

Honda part number 42312-463-000. That part is used on 80 and 81 Goldwings. It's really just a thick flat washer by the look of it.

Re: Rear Axle
Don't just hammer away on it without setting up a support first. You must brace the swingarm against something that can't move because the force from hammering will push the swingarm sideways. If the swingarm gets bent nothing will ever line up again during reassembly. It's also helpful if you pry o...

Re: 81 gl1100 foot pegs
1980 and 1981 footpegs are exactly the same, no visible difference. They even have the same Honda part numbers for left and right those years. 82 is shaped different only in the arm portion, but 83 is totally different from your bike's style.

Go to ebay and enter 264524211569 in the search. It will take you to a left footpeg for your 1981 Goldwing. If the asking price is to high just enter a best offer in the box provided. Hopefully you can get it.

You have the correct part number for the top bushing (51414-463-003) but the correct part number for the bottom bushing or sleeve is actually 51415-463-003. Both are still available new from Honda.

That's a great tip. Thanks for sharing that trick with us. I've struggled with that same problem restoring old vehicles and trying to save obsolete rubber pieces. What do you think the shelf life would be on that mixture if you kept it in a tightly sealed container? Does the liquid turn black as the...

Yes, those are the same rear wheels. Even the 1983 Standard GL1100 has the same rear wheel as the 1983 Aspencade and Interstate.

Re: GL1100I passenger back rest
You could change the trunk to an 82 or 83 Aspencade trunk. Those have a much taller backrest pad than the Interstate models. I don't think there are any aftermarket options for backrest pads for the GL1100. There is also the possibility the backrest pad from an 82 or 83 Aspencade might bolt straight...

Those are still available new from Honda. Your 1979 part is either 32411-230-000 or 32411-253-000. I'm not sure which your bike takes but they both look like the picture you show in your original post.Your dealership parts guy can tell you which is right for your GL1000 if you check with him.

Re: Final Drive Gear Case connection problem
There's actually supposed to be an O-ring in the rusty end of the swing arm you've got pictured where the driveshaft comes out. It is Honda part number 91352-463-003. Unfortunately it isn't available from Honda anymore, but if you go to a shop that sells seals and bearings they will have a complete ...

Contact them again and offer to send them a money order to cover the price of the new springs and mailing them to you through the post office. It's always cheaper to send through the mail than by using UPS or DHL or Fed EX. You'll probably have better luck getting these on your own instead of trying...

Re: Help buying GL1100
The guy wants $1500.00 for that bike. He's already removed the original carbs and replaced them with another set that he's claiming he's rebuilt. I doubt a bike that's been used for only 6 seasons would need all the carburetors replaced with a used set that's now 40 years old. Look at the condition ...
