Got my fingers crossed for you Kerry, , ,everything should work great when they're done. But if it's not, , , let us know and we all can get it up and roadworthy again.

Re: Goldwing 1500 1988

If you just remove the center shelter, and the air cleaner, I think you should be able to see the area well enough to tell where the gas smell is coming from. Yes, it can be tight quarters in that area, , , but last winter you already did MORE than just "looking" for the gas leak. Your comment " I n...

Re: Goldwing 1500 1988

Seems like the strong smell of gas and the poor idle, running on 3 cylinders, are happening at the same time after the engine warms up. Could that right side carb have an "issue" with the boot, or a seal that is leaking after the engine temp rises? The Tw sensor sounds OK, but did the Ta sensor chec...

Form submitted, but I'm "ticked-off" that I can't submit a dozen (or a hundred) forms with the same complaint!!!!

I wonder if I can "print" out a truck-load of the forms and truck it down to the local EPA office???, , , hehe

Once you are confident with the carbs are sync'd, the plugs are in good shape, and the plug wires are in good condition, , , , the pulse generators/ECU could be the next step. Its possible that one of them going bad could cause your symptoms, but not quite as common as the carbs/plugs. Your comment ...

Re: Having a real problem keeping my 92 1500 cc Gold Wing upright

There is a reason I refer to my bike as the "BEAST"!! This thing can be tough to handle, , ,but there are wonderful ideas out there that help make it easier. I'm 5'9", 175 Lbs, 64 yrs old with a 32" inseam which is probably VERY close to being (legally) classified as "Vertically challenged" (haha), ...

Re: Goldwing 1500 1988

WELCOME ABOARD YvonnGB!!! I haven't experienced your exact issue, , , but my first thought is the spark plugs. If they are the correct plug, and gaped properly you might want to consider "stepping up" to the next higher "HOTTER" plug for a few hundred miles and check them to see how they perform. Ne...

Re: New fuel pump not working, 94 1500 esp

The only "caveat" I'd add to Dave's comment is, , Some of us have much of our "tupperware" secured with hooks, straps, wire, and/or velcro, , I don't want anyone who don't know how to take it apart TOUCHING it. They're likely to screw something up tearing it down or putting it back together, , , , ,...

Re: New fuel pump not working, 94 1500 esp

Kerry, sorry to hear that the shop is going to take your $$ without finding the cause of your problems. Its likely that the bike is older than the mechanic, , or he just doesn't have the experience/knowledge to properly troubleshoot the issue. Let us know whether you plan on letting the shop work on...

Re: New fuel pump not working, 94 1500 esp

Your opening comment said that the "old" pump gave a "limited" amount of fuel. Did you measure the amount and compare it to the "normal" amount? There is an easy method to check, jumper the FP to power for 15 sec's and multiply the amount collected in a beaker, by four to get GPM's. They don't need ...

Alan, , are any of the BT-S2 headsets working well, other than the "clip" broke? I'm interested in getting a "back-up" headset and I'm wondering if we might work out something?

PM me if possible, , , ,

Re: Help with helmet headsets, please!

For those of us on a fixed income, where "stretching" our $$ is a priority, I found a GREAT solution to the headset/intercom problem. My '91 Interstate did not come with a CB or intercom setup, so I had to find an aftermarket solution. I got a BT-S2 headset and it has worked out perfect for my needs...

Re: Front breaks fade to 0

+1 on changing that brake fluid/clutch fluid ASAP. Speedbleeders will make the job a breeze, , , small investment but LARGE dividends in making the job easier. The front brake (hand) lever operates only ONE of the front brakes, the brake PEDAL (commonly called rear brake pedal) operates the other fr...

Re: Bike turns over, BUT won't start

Maestro319, is this problem with the 1200 you have on your profile, or is it a 1500 not listed?

If its a 1500, check the B.A.S. (Bank Angle Sensor) along with the kick-stand switch.

Glad to hear you got it! Were they synch’d in time for the trip? I just transferred my unit from my old Nolan helmet to a new HJC modular and the transition went perfectly. Sounds good still and works great.

Re: HELP WITH HELMET SOUND SYSTEM !

Not many have accused me of being "shy" about giving my .02 cents on most topics, (haha). I hope my viewpoint helps. My old '91 was made with a crappy little AM/FM stereo in the left fairing pocket, that was not very good even when it was brand new. Just recently, I removed the old 27 yr old OEM rad...

Re: HELP WITH HELMET SOUND SYSTEM !

I have a tough time trying to resolve your "Radio/Stereo" issues because I have no experience with your year model. I just swapped out the OEM radio on my '91 Interstate and it works great, (minus the CB capability you mention). That Sena 20-S should work great for all your intercom/bluetooth/music ...

Re: Want To Buy A 91 Interstate And Need Advice/ Thanks

That one is the "identical twin" to my beast, , , , GREAT RIDE!!! $3500 out the door is a bit high, even though the mileage is well below what I would expect. The '91 Interstate has a small AM/FM Kenwood stereo in the left fairing pocket with "controls" on the left handlebar. The radio and speakers ...

Re: Intercom Headsets (GL1500)

Its tough to challenge the Sena headsets for quality and "features", , , they are great. However, the wallet will take a decent "hit" when choosing the Sena. A few months ago I picked up the BT-S2 headset/intercom/bluetooth for $29.99. It has proven itself to be an absolute WINNER for my needs. It h...

Re: 1500 Aftermarket Radio Option

I have doubts that the "cover" on the '91 Center shelter will mount well with your '96 but if you are serious about finding one, you might have luck with getting hooked up with a "salvager" from ebay. You can usually find a few there, then phone them, or email them and let them know what you want. I...

Forgive me for not understanding the question, , , does the '90 SE has have the cassette player and knobs are exposed on the center shelter? Re: Need Help 1991 gl1500 no gas from fuel pump

The Carter fuel pump the worked fine for my '91 was a Carter/Napa P72190 and the Cater STS-8 strainer is what worked on mine. Don't forget to get the proper "rated" hose that is gasoline submersible.

Re: I Cut The CORD!!!!! Best $35 spent! BT-S2 1000m Bluetooth Headset Review

Great Information and even GREATER Explanation!!! The BT-S2 is merely the "conduit" to the phone so it doesn't have the same "data" stored in it. You have to make the phone do the "work", then deal with the "basics" through the BT-S2. It works just like Shawn explained. For the price, its a great ad...
