Re: Front brake disc covers

I think the vast majority of the rotor covers actually "hide" the rotor but since you like the "gap", just adjust/bend the other side to match the one you like. The cover is bolted up to the back of the fork/fender area where the Brake lines attach, and also two small bolts down near the center of t...

Re: Painting the 1500

One of our International members (Ventoura66) has plans of doing his GL1500 with Black and Blue Ghost pearl paint job. VERY COOL COLOR and he has hinted that he'll post pictures of his finished project. He also has a newly produced Unobtainium 2.1 panel (Radio blank-off) to upgrade his stereo set-up...

Re: What is your average mileage for your GL1500?

35 mpg, , 75% city-25% highway (according to my fuel app). I would guess 35-38 highway, 32-35 city is close to actual results.

Re: Clutch slipping

Ouch! CrystalPistol is right, I didn't even notice the oil comment, , , , Could Mobil 1 10W-40 Hi Mi have the dreaded FRICTION MODIFIERS? Check the "donut" on the back of the bottle, the lower portion of the circle should be blank.

Re: Clutch slipping

The symptoms you describe are the same as what I experienced. When you say you "bled the clutch", did you use fresh DOT4 AND did you wipe down the inside of the clutch reservoir to get all the brown "gunk" out? Also, did you clean the "return" under the shiny silver tab? You gently pry up the tab an...

Re: Open sidecases

To "unlock" trunk and side cases (saddlebags), insert key into trunk lock and turn key to "vertical" position, then reach under trunk and gently pull lever on left (for left bag), or right (for right bag). To "lock" all three, turn key to "horizontal" position. OOPS!! I got it reversed, , ,Listen to...

Re: Dash-mount plate

It is used for ANY 2" gauge, and have two of them side-by-side, such as Voltmeter, Oil Pressure, Coolant temp, ambient temp, clock, USB plug, , etc. These old beasts did not come with a voltmeter and their age makes having a voltmeter VERY appealing/important. The panel is a direct replacement for t...

Re: Stock Radio Removal and Dash Display

IIRC, fuse #13 is actually in the "Relay box" which is on the left side as you describe but farther back than the "Fuse" tree. Its down near the bottom of one of the Relays. I looked at the Velex, so the wiring won't "plug-and-play" to the existing wiring. I'm not sure if any of the aftermarket radi...

Re: Bad radio in 1989 Goldwing GL1500

I have a panel that will fit seamlessly on the centershelter and you can fit a 21st Century stereo with bluetooth/USB (to charge phone or play MP3's)/Remote/Aux-in and tons of other features, , ,the only caveat is that you'll only have 3"-3.5" clearance to the Air filter housing. Re: Dash-mount plate

Unobtainium 2.0 panels are the result of a modified Firecreek panel and even though I cannot sell them for the $25 that they'd been sold for on ebay, ,I make $0 profit. My original purpose for bringing this panel back to life was to make a few "brother wingers" more confident in their devoted "baby ...

Re: Stock Radio Removal and Dash Display

Unless his Marine radio is a direct "plug-and-play" at the original wiring harness, (which I doubt), he will need to match the wires to the LCD from the old schematics to tap into the Marine radio Schematics.

IIRC, the LCD clock was synchronized to the radio time.

Good Advice folks!

TIP: The #6 plug (closest to the shifter) is the easiest plug to check for spark because you only need to remove the one smallish panel low on the left side.

Let us know how it goes

Re: Rear bleeder valve issue

The mighty Vac might be putting enough suction pressure that air is sucked in at the "nipple" when you close the bleeder, which is not a problem IF you're "sucking" out the old brake fluid, , , but that doesn't seem as effective as just using the brake pedal and opening/closing the bleeder. Maybe I'...

Re: Stock Radio Removal and Dash Display

If your Marine radio has a "clock" capability you'll need to tap/splice into that because I think the LCD needs to know what time to display. I think the LCD isn't really a clock, , it just "displays" a time that is set in the radio display. I don't know anything about your bluetooth radio so I can'...

Re: Rattling noise from left side of bike towards front

If the rattle was NOT there before the timing belt change, , ,most likely something you did, or didn't do when you reassembled it. Check that lower cowl nut and radiator "screen" on that left side. Did you loosen/remove the horn on that side? Walk back all the steps you made when you reassembled it.

Re: Engine clicking noise.

Even though the Seafoam treatment couldn't hurt the engine, , ,If I recall correctly, there was a thread that spoke about an exhaust bolt working loose and causing a very similar problem to what you describe. Take a quick look at the exhaust manifolds/pipes to make sure they're bolted up tight.

Re: Engine clicking noise.

Because you say the clicking increases with the throttle, , makes me think of sticky lifter or definitely engine related. When did you change oil last? I've had good luck with putting 4 oz. Seafoam in the full crankcase and add about 2 oz. per gallon of gas into the gas tank, then running the bike f...

Re: 1989 gl1500 color codes

The Candy Wineberry has a R114-CU code color which doesn't match your '95 Candy Spectra. From what I see, Honda didn't begin using the Candy Spectra Red (R176C) until the '92 models and used it through the '00 models. I'd stick with most red colors '92-'00.

If you "ZOOM", send invite to a meeting to bluthundr31@yahoo.com (notice no "E's" in bluthundr).

Drain the fuel into a beaker without the fuel filter (especially if its clogged). If three seconds is all you can get, , multiply that amount by 20.

I'll PM you more about cellphone number.

Re: starting issue

Rambozo has best (IMHO) advice, , , DO the volume test before you "throw the baby out with the bath water". OEM fuel pumps are very pricey and at 32 yrs. old, , ,it is wise to be hesitant to go that route right now. There should be enough fuel in the carbs to run the beast for 5 seconds, , then mult...
