Re: Wind noise and buffeting

My .02 cents, , , , Trust what AZgl1800 (John) says about the Madstad, , ,he knows of what he speaks. The cost of a new windshield is something only YOU can make a decision about. . . HOWEVER, , I also endorse the FIRST attempt to resolve this issue should be to raise that windshield as high as poss...

Re: Can't Install Markland Highway Boards

Those don't look right, , to me. My boards were put on 20+ years ago and went on in about 20 minutes without a problem.

It looks like you have two different brands/styles of board.

Re: 94 GL1500 fuel pump replacement

I replaced an OEM fuel pump a couple years ago using the NAPA/Carter pump and its still working great, , ,I will NOT discredit member-754's comments, ,merely state that unless the Carter pump quality control has fallen drastically in the last couple of years, ,it worked fantastic for me. The NAPA/Ca...

Re: High pitch squeel

I would guess that the 2500-3000 rpm puts the exact amount of tension on the belts to make em "sing" like that, , ,lower or higher is enough to nullify the sound, , ,but NOT the problem.

Re: High pitch squeel

+1 on the timing belt tensioners, , , ,it is possible/likely that the squeal will get progressively worse as the bearings get more and more abuse/worn. If I were you, , , I would consider taking the hint from the "squeal" that the tensioners are NOT HAPPY and check em out before they crap out comple...

Re: Side Mirror About to Fall Off - Sol'n ?

My right mirror is vibrating more than the left mirror so I've been wondering how to resolve the issue before it falls off completely. I wonder, , , if the threaded plastic "sleeve" becomes stipped so the bolt won't seat properly, and tighten the mirror to stop the vibration, , maybe it would be pos...

Re: GL 1500 low idle and rough running

Sounds like you should be alright, , ,How are those spark plugs though? New, properly gaped plugs will help. Plug #6, (left rear), closest to the shifter is the easiest to get to without alot of tupperware removal. It might be a good indicator of "plug condition". That Seafoam/gasoline mixture will ...

+1 on sticking with Gates, , , ,(only until I find "Made in China" stamped on one of their timing belts)

They've been a solid belt for long enough to be the "go to" replacement.

Re: GL 1500 low idle and rough running

Have you opened the "gas door" and adjusted the idle using the knurled knob? It should adjust your idle to the 850- 950 RPM area for a smoother idle. 1.) Consider using a Seafoam (2oz. per gallon of gasoline) mix for the next 3-4 "fill-ups". It will do a good job of "cleaning" that fuel system, , an...

Re: What should I do first

If you have NO MAINTENANCE records, , I would lean toward resolving the issues that are likely to cause catastrophic failure if not repaired/resolved, , , ,THE TIMING BELTS FIRST!! Once that's resolved, the rest will merely be a matter of "fitting" it to your style/liking. There are likely other ide...

Re: GL1500 stereo upgrade/replacement

I might be inclined to run a relay with 14AWG wires from the "+" and "-" accessory screws as the "trigger" circuit of the relay. The 5Amps from the accessory screws will "trip" the relay and won't overload anything, , THEN tap into the + side of the battery with an in-line 15A fuse to the "hot-in" o...

Re: Clutch/Transmission issue?

When you dealt with the clutch reservoir, did you happen to remember to gently pry off the shiny silver "tab" and use a torch tip to clean/ream out the return line? That gets full of "gunk" and makes the clutch do some strange things. DOT 4 fluid in clutch, right?? You say that you changed oil when ...

Re: OEM stock alternator output

The OEM alternator is not a high-output alternator and can quickly become "under-powered" when numerous electrical add-ons are installed. There are a handful of manufacturers that make 90-95 amp output alternators that will fit the 1500's. Compufire is a common high output replacement for the OEM al...

Re: 1992 GL1500A cranks but wont fire up sometimes

I'm thinking "excessive Pressure in gas tank", , , , if the "vent" on the gas cap isn't working as it should, especially at 27 yr. old, gunk and rust will inhibit it from working right. A quick and easy fix could be as simple as soaking (submerging) that gas cap in Seafoam overnight, then blow it cl...

Re: Position Light as headlights?

I'm not sure that the lights would be "adjustable" enough to avoid being considered "out of adjustment" by your local LEO. The configuration of the mirror "backings" could throw the light focus in another direction, other than in front of you. Don't get me wrong, , its a fine idea if it helps visibi...

I searched 3 of the Honda "Parts houses" for the front fender and left fender cover. The cost was $299-329 for the fender but the "color" selection is very dismal. The left fender cover is $149-165 and also has poor selection of matching "color". Look on the bottom of each of the parts to be replace...
