Re: Sturgis

I too have just returned from Sturgis Rally. My wife went with me and we camped in campgrounds in the Spearfish area 17 miles west of Sturgis. The campground has quite time from 10pm till 8am thus no ear plugs to sleep. If you want to avoid the craziness at camp you just need to look for campground ...

Re: Sturgis

Too much craziness for me. We might get through there sometime when it's not, but otherwise, no thanks. Not as much craziness as one might expect. Have been there the last two years and have nothing but an enjoyable time. We stay at a quit campground 20 miles away. I suppose there is craziness (and...

Re: Sturgis

We are heading out for Sturgis Tuesday (July 31st) morning at 4 am. We have a little farther to go (1,160 miles). We are also hoping the weather will cooperate. Been there twice before, best time at a rally anywhere. Have been to many rally's around the country, they all pale in comparison. Buffalo ...

Re: What cooler do you have/recommend

I have an Ozark Trail cooler from Walmart, it is a knock off of the Yeti cooler. It does a good job of holding ice (2 days+) but is not quite as good as my brothers Yeti but was a whole lot less money. Much better than the Coleman cooler I was using before. e9785581-8da0-4ee0-9ffc-64941819ba6d_1.8ff...

Re: Question About Modern Day Camping

Just returned from trip east, Americade in New York and Laconia rally in New Hampshire. Stayed in KOA's whole trip, rustic camp sites, none were full, no need for reservations. Will be heading for Sturgis in just over a week and have no reservations, have never needed them there before. Only place's...

Re: Oil Filter isn't flush with mount

I would double check that you got correct # filter. HF204 is the one listed for GL1800 on Wingstuff.
http://wingstuff.com/products/22153-hiflo-oil-filters
If that is indeed the one you got and it is not leaking, I would go on the trip and forget about it.

I have an '03 that does the same thing occasionally. Tried to show my brother what it does and couldn't make it do it. I have wondered if anyone else had this too. Brother says his '04 has never done it.

Last weekend rode to Lima to American Flat Track races, 1/2 mile on pea gravel. Camped at fair grounds and the racing was excellent.

Re: Riding on a snake

My brother had a Goldwing Roadsmith trike with an Avon Cobra Trike on it. He was planning a long trip and replaced the tire which was only about 1/2 used up. So I put the trike front tire on my two wheel 'Wing, there was no real noticeable difference in handling from the standard Avon Cobra I had be...

I plan to install a spoiler on the trunk of my 2008 GL1800. Looking on fleabay, I see there are Chinses knockoffs for $80, and there are OEM Hondas for around $250. Has anyone tried the knockoffs? If so, how was appearance, fit, form and function? Thanks Much, Joe H Hi Joe Who is to say these are n...

Re: shifting problem

Yes, my son thought the same. Thanks for the input. I'm wondering if it's safe to ride until I can get it to a shop? If that's all it is (bent shifter fork), then yes it is safe to ride, I would avoid those gears if possible. I wouldn't, if fork is bent enough could be side loading in the groove in...

Re: Darkside Tech: Using Car Tires on a Motorcycle Rim

Why would less tread create slippery tires? Ever looked at the tires on a racing car or motorcycle? They need the absolute maximum amount of grip possible, and the tires have NO tread on them at all. Have you ever tried riding on a road racing slick in the rain? Even road racers use treaded tires i...

Re: trailer or hitch rack

I would personally rather tow a trailer. Reason being, with a trailer, the tongue weight is adjustable. With a hitch rack you are limited to how much you can carry. Too much weight at the rear is a quick way to wear out the front tire as well as making for unstable handling. +1 on the trailer. I te...

OK, here's train caboose. It has been converted into an ice cream shop, but is a real caboose sitting on an old siding.

The real question is why does my '03 Goldwing which was built in the USA have "JIS is Japanese Industrial Standard" screws in it? 5W-20 ..... NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. N.E.V.E.R NEVER NEVER NEVER go below xW-40. Why??? Our engines are "flat tappet" design. Means the tappets and cam have a sliding contact. To avoid wear, the oil has a high zinc content. 1000ppm+ BUT - zinc poisons cat converters. So e...
