Re: Ecu reset

I am not totally sure that disconnecting the battery is necessary. The ECM/ECU (what ever you want to call it) is powered down simply with ignition switched off, I have done successful resets without unhooking battery. But I posted the whole thing as written by Cruiseman of the Cruiseman Garage dvd'...

Reset the ECM -TheGLForum GL1800 (Any Year): Reset the ECM Here are the steps that I follow to reset the ECM on the Goldwing: •Make sure the engine is cold and has sat for at least 5 hours, overnight is best Remove the ground (black) cable from the battery Let the bike set for at least 30 minutes Re...

Re: Soon to be trailer winger

I too (like AZgl1800) have a Harbor Freight trailer. Mine is an older one with the 8" wheels but is very similar to the Northern Tool trailers. Both the newer HF and NT trailers have 12" wheels which I believe to be better for high speeds(same trailer I think). With that being said mine has given ma...

Here is an interesting twist. This is an information sheet that came with my new AGM battery. https://www.renegadebattery.com/Honda_Batteries-GL1800_Gold_Wing_01-13_Honda_batteries.html attachment.php I have used a battery maintainer when my bike is going to set for any length of time, especially in...

Re: Changed brake fluids and now CBS wont work

I think you will find the bike needs to be moving or at least front wheel be rotating in the proper direction to have the left front caliper move upward when front brake applied to activate the secondary master cylinder on left fork leg to have it apply rear braking. th This is my understanding of h...

Re: Acrylic vs Polycarbonate windshields

I am pretty sure the OEM shield on my 1800 was polycarbonate. I now have an after market acrylic one. It is three years old and still looks like new, I take great care about cleaning it so as not to scratch. Use plain water on micro fiber towel, just lay across windshield to let bugs and bird doo so...

Re: Trailer battery to charge phones, etc...

What I use is a portable battery jump starter, can be charged while riding thru a power port on bike. Can also be charge from a standard 120v outlet. Will jump start bike or charge any device thru USB ports https://www.walmart.com/ip/Schumacher-800-Amp-Li-Ion-Jump-Starter-with-USB-Ports-and-LCD-Disp...

Re: Question about windshield height

I see no petroleum distillates listed in the ingredients of pledge: The second listed ingredient (therefore the 2nd largest constituent) of Pledge is "isoparaffin" which is a petroleum distillate. The advice not to use it doesn't come from me but the manufacturers of polycarbonate sheeting, the adv...

Be aware the video in that thread is for 01-05 models. 06-10 you do not remove the speaker grilles.
My bad, sorry about that.

Re: Trailer For Goldwing

I would say it needs a trailer plate. It hooks behind a vehicle and trails it, making it a trailer whether it has 1 wheel or 100.
