I had a front wheel sandblasted and powdered sliver with a clearcoat. It turned out great, looked real good. Only cost me $50 but I know the powder coat guy.

Re: 1800 Alternator

Thanks Jim. I was replying to IBArider with my post but while I have you here, did you do the re and re yourself? Is your bike an ABS version with the lines running in the space where the back screw is? Let me know if you did it or you sent it out (like I did last time). I'm finding NO WAY to remov...

On July, 30 2021 the alternator failed on my '03 GL1800 with 128,000 miles on original alternator. Replaced with OEM Honda unit ($343.80) from Ron Ayers.

Re: Need Alternator

Alternator is dead, I am looking for replacement. I am leaning toward an OEM Honda one, have heard too many bad things about aftermarket ones. Any advice on having one rebuilt or is new the way to go? Or are there some good aftermarket ones? Any idea on where to get best price on new one? Trying to...

Re: towing a trailer

I would not pull one without lights, trailers block most of the bikes lighting. Good way to get run over in traffic.

Re: Planning CO trip for June. How many mi/day do you Avg?

It is hard to nail down an average. When it is just my brother and I (with wife on back and trailer) we have rode many 900+ mile days, but not in a row. Most days are 500 t0 600 miles, unless riding with another riding pair. One couple that has taken trips with us ride a Harley Tri-Glide we are luck...

Re: Knee Replacement Surgery...

I had my left knee replaced in early 2014, after close to 7 years it remains very much better than it was before surgery. You are correct, doing ALL the therapy is key to a good outcome. I had not ridden in nearly 30 years, not just due to knee issues. Had discontinued riding while raising family, a...

Try a strip of inner tube rubber under the clamp as a shim. I have done this on clamps that have room for such a thing.

I don't know either what is the best, have not tried too many of them. Right now I am running a Renagade, have for just over 5k miles on it. So far real happy with battery performance and price. Was shipped promptly and arrived in good shape with test report. https://www.renegadebattery.com/Honda_Ba...
