Re: Overheating, below pressure, and what the fork?

Thank you, for a quick reply. I was under the impression, the original water pump, had plastic blades, so metal could suggest, it's been looked at before. However, I've been wrong about a lot. The only thing I checked, on the blades was to ensure the pump was engaged. It was, but the front cap that ...

Overheating, below pressure, and what the fork?

Apologies, for an extra long post. My gl1100 constant project I've had for a while. It also has a sidecar, which makes riding a lot more interesting. Even though there is a lot of power from the lower and mid range, getting upto 55mph and above is a lot of work, and it seems only downhill with a bree...

Re: Question on overheating

Regarding overheating: Fan kicks in, when temp reaches above 60%, So thermostat is working. Took seat, fairings, fake tank off, just before. Added coolant to radiator, to the point I could just the level in the radiator neck. Fired up from cold, waited about 2 minutes, and give a little throttle. Le...

Re: Question on overheating

I haven't "burped" The system, kind of curious to know how that is done successfully. Fan does kick on, when gauge reaches above mid mark. I've put my palm on the radiator fins, and there is cooling air the same diameter as the fan. However, the bottom of the radiator is still boiling hot. So thermo...

Re: Question on overheating

My 83 Aspy, is overheating. Cruising at 55-60 and the gauge would hover in the mid to slightly upper. However, as soon as I stopped, the digital temp gauge pushes upto one below extreme.. and sometimes into the max, very quickly. So I'm confident on ripping and tearing the system down. So far I'm go...

Re: How to rebuild your rear master cylinder

Morning, I'm having similar issues, with my 83 Aspencade/ sidecar. Thought it would be a quick flush and go. Nah. I have been scratching my head, and originally, I thought it was the rear master cylinder. Little by little, the entire brake system, well has been broke. I managed to ride it to Wingdre...

Re: Searching for a Rear Brake Master Cylinder

Its an option, I'm leaning more towards actually. Didn't realise how impossible this part, is to find. I've got a few leads, and then I'm looking at alternatives, such as re sleeving.

It will be a runner, just a question of patience. Thanks for everyone's advice over this issue.

Re: Searching for a Rear Brake Master Cylinder

Morning folks, Bike week was very good, however it is a giant Harley Fest for the most part. We rode up there, with a few friends. One of my friends, has a chopper with a 76 500T Honda engine. And the rear wheel he used, is the type that has a 2.5” circlip to hold the whole thing together. Well that...

Re: Searching for a Rear Brake Master Cylinder

Cosmo, Thanks for the help. What I'm after specifically, is the rear master cylinder housing itself, and the main push rod. Everything else, I have, or can get hold of. I'm up at Ohio bike week at the moment, so if you can help, I'll reply as quickly as I can. But thank you. If I've missed details, ...

Searching for a Rear Brake Master Cylinder

Hello, Well, my 83 Aspy finally gave out, on it's brakes, or what was left of them. Bought 2 repair kits from K and L, for the rear caliper, and the rear brake. Well, cut a long story short, I need another rear brake kit. The cylinder itself is pitted at both ends, and tearing up seals and sucking a...

Re: GL1100A with sidecar

Updated the link.

The sidecar is a hitchhiker brand, I’ll track them down, and see if they still have part numbers. Thanks for your help.

Re: GL1100A with sidecar

Thanks Froche. So in a nutshell, keep stock where ever possible. I've already gone through the wiring for the sidecar lightbar, and it frankly was a mess of butt splices, and wire nuts. The new square lights , can still be bought $10 for a pair from Iron Pony https://shop.ponypowersports.com/chris-p...

GL1100A with sidecar

Morning Everyone. I've gone ahead and bought this character last year. It has a lot trust me, and have spent most of the winter rewiring the sidecar. And most of the main electrics front and back. It did run, until the clutch cable went out, and it has been replaced. However, I've not yet confirmed ...
