Re: GL1200 carb choke leaking through the overflow tube

That would be a skill worth having 😂. I just re-read your previous post and can't work out what the hell I was thinking when I thought you meant removing one carb only! I must learn to concentrate on only one thing at a time! Maz Hay Maz, Well we found what was going on and learned a lesson at the ...

Re: GL1200 carb choke leaking through the overflow tube

Jolly. You're doing fine with the forum so far. I've never tried removing just one carb. I suppose, having the luxury(?) of a naked bike, it's easier for me to remove them as a unit of 4 and I can do it in around 15 minutes. If you have them on the bench together it's also easier to connect an auxi...

Re: GL1200 carb choke leaking through the overflow tube

I have a 1984 GL1200 that is leaking gas from the choke through the overflow tube. If I have the choke on it does not leak. But when the choke is off it starts leaking. I have pulled the choke valve out and it looks good. put a new rubber on the end of the valve, but it did not help. If anyone can ...

Re: GL1200 carb choke leaking through the overflow tube

Maz, I did change the needle valves on all carbs and checked all float levels. I have found that the carb that is leaking is the front right. I will replace the float and check that carb over again. I had first thought the the same thing you had suggested. Carb out for the 4th time. Thinking one car...

Re: 1984 starter

Hi Jolly I had an 84 aspy the thing about the 84s is the starters were only made in 84 and there is no other starter that I know of that will fit. The rebuild for the starter should be pretty much like other starters. I have a 84 parts bike that im keeping for spare parts for my 85 as a lot of them...

Re: Head gasket leaking oil

OK everyone, sorry it has taken so long to post my findings. Valve covers that leak can leave oil in some weird places. It gave me a chance to get a look at the inside of my engine. Mobile 1, 10W 40 , My engine looks new on the inside. At just under 56,000 miles. A 1986 GL1200A bought last summer. I...

Re: Head gasket leaking oil

OK, I do have a oil leak coming from the valve cover. No oil in the water, or radiator. No water in the oil. Need help to put pictures in this posting. I can't understand how oil is where it is at. Maybe the wind is blowing it up there. Going to fix the valve cover oil leak and see if that fixes the...

Re: Fork Seals

I have searched forum and not found a answer so being new at this I will ask here. Can air leak out a fork seal without leaking oil? Can oil leak out a fork seal with out leaking air. In other words if seal is bad do the both have to leak or can it be one OR the other. As I said I'm new at this so ...
