I bought the last pair in my size from an eBay vendor.
So, I have delayed the inevitable for at least a year, and can shop at my convenience.

Riding Glove Shopping
I’ll start with “Ugh!” Y’know, when you finally settle on a set of ‘daily use’ gloves, it’s really nice to NOT have to shop around. You have the size, you know the fit - it’s just, you go to the store *or* go on-line and get a new pair when your current pair is getting close to the end of life. In m...

Re: Are onboard GPS units worth it?
That's totally outside the scope of this specific thread, but to briefly respond - no, CB's are worthless -unless - you are riding along with a group of other CB owners. As far as the general chit-chat of old, it no longer exists...unless you speak Spanish, that is. 8-) Maybe down there in Arizona,...

Re: Are onboard GPS units worth it?
Hmmm - I have the manual which came with my bike (08 GL1800) but in all honesty, and to my discredit, I have not opened it up. I also know my GPS mapping is out of date, but when I checked, it seemed a bit pricey to update. The guy I bought my bike from also threw in a Garmin Zumo 595LM which I upd...

Shoei CX-1V Helmet Visors - $20 + shipping
I was given a couple of visors for a Shoei helmet; unfortunate, but they don't fit my lid - but they *may* fit yours! If you're wearing a Shoei X-Eleven, XR1000, TZ-R, Multitec or any other Shoei helmet that uses the CX-1V visor, here's your deal of the day! $20, plus the $16 to send it to you via U...

Re: Cardo Packtalk Bold Sena Freewire and transmit CB
<...>I have to assume that the Freewire would pair with the Cardo in the same manor, and in the hopes that it would have the same functions as the Sena. Nope - again, on purpose. Personally, I think it's a function of BT MAC addresses. My suspicion is that the Sena headsets know what address ranges...

Re: Goldwing as a first bike?!?!
<...>What else should I check on a 12 y.o. bike before hitting the highway?<...> Your health insurance - up to date? Good... I bought a brand new Wing in 2007 & had a ~120 mile ride home. That took three hours, since I hadn't really seriously been on two wheels for that kind of time for over 15...

Re: Ground locations
Old post... I'm getting ready to do that very thing on my 1800. I've got a very annoying buzz that comes and goes through the intercom, and I'm betting it's ground loop related. Has anyone installed a buss bar for the main ground, rather than using that single stud? I'm just thinking with a buss ba...

Re: How to track and display your trips for free!
The beauty behind this system is you control the extent of the data sharing.
It can be a private link only shared with family as you are on a trip. Or, you can share with others so they can vicariously ride along. I've done both.

Yes this an old thread but a topic that I'm sure a lot of us including me think about. 70 next month good health so not a major concern yet. <...> So when you decided to step away from 2 wheels what were your reasons. Were there signs that encouraged or are encouraging you to "hang it up"...

Re: Bluetooth
It will come with Bluetooth 2.1... that was the standard in 2007... 14 years ago, and so it does not even have rider to pilon communications! No wonder I hear about so many issues connecting. My last two GW did not have BT, so this is an upgrade, but for $40K, I would expect a little more up to dat...

Re: Mountable USB Ports Looked and Looked Now I need Help
<...>The only problem with the grips is that unless they have 15W the controller that has 3 settings, low, med, and high, only works on high. I know that sounds strange but that is the case.<...> Your controller is a resistive device. On high, it's 'wide open', and will let the gloves take the full...

Re: Mountable USB Ports Looked and Looked Now I need Help
3 Amps is somewhat pushing the limits of the USB A connector. What I would do is cut off the USB plugs and install barrel plugs. Wire up a DC to DC buck converter that has enough capacity to run all your heated gear. Then place barrel jacks where ever convenient to attach your gear. You could also ...

<...>I have heated gloves and heated grips that require 15w each. NPTRR (National Parks Tour Ride Report)
It might be construed by some as a breach of netiquette (not yet posting it here...yet) but I've been diligently plugging away in writing up the ride report from the Iron Butt Association National Parks Tour that my wife and I are doing two-up. The link to get there is National Parks Tour Preparatio...

Re: Are onboard GPS units worth it?
So Kwthom are you saying you prefer the built in GPS? Or are you ok with a 3rd party unit or phone? Since I've had *both* integrated on my bike for a number of years.... The phone, however, is doing *other* tasks as well (music player, tracking device, etc.), so in my use case, I'll use the b...
