Re: Bluetooth & mp3 - check my thoughts

I read about him too, seemed like a decent deal. I'll have to see how much it really bothers me though. I thought he said that many of the older radios don't need the amplifier upgrade, could be wrong though.

Re: Bluetooth & mp3 - check my thoughts

OK, that makes total sense. I don't have a second wireless headset and I rarely have a passenger, however if the headsets were to bypass the intercom by using bluetooth, then the problem should not exist. Thanks for the comment.

Re: Bluetooth & mp3 - check my thoughts

That's about 5-10 before I really got into music but I remember them well! I agree about just letting the songs go though, I've never taken a ride long enough to do that, maybe I should. The J&M also accepts plug in mp3 players as well and I think will charge at the same time, not sure though if...

Re: Bluetooth & mp3 - check my thoughts

It's too bad some whiz-kid doesn't come up with a firmware upgrade for our older radios to eliminate the limitations. I know about the AUX in plug and have used it but I still like the ability to scroll through the songs using the bikes controls. I usually use my bike for commuting and some days the...

valve stems

I've done a search and found very little to answer my question which is: Is there any reason why you can use a straight valve stem on a Goldwing? My 1500 had them pointing to the right which made checking air pressure easier, my 1800 has them pointing to the left which makes checking air pressure mo...

Re: Trunk delete?

Sorry but you're wrong, the fastest color is YELLOW. And honestly, the picture kind of looks like a grill attached to the back of a Goldwing, might be great for tailgating but not so good for a passenger, just say'in.

Re: Bluetooth & mp3 - check my thoughts

Just wanted to give an update on what i have done and how it works. My first two purchases were the SENA 20S EVO and the J&M mp3 player. The mp3 player works fine and is controllable with the bike controls. The SENA 20S works pretty good as well, phone calls are very clear while wearing an HJC f...

Re: Wingstuff software

I ended up buying it and like you feel it is not very user friendly. I could have downloaded the trial but figured buying it along with the mp3 player got me free shipping so it really wasn't the full price. There aren't that many mp3 players out there that will interface with the bike controls, mos...

Re: Wingstuff software

First off, I have no connection with any vendor or product included in this topic. Since you have a newer bike, you don't have the same limitations I have with my '01. I bought the J&M mp3 player to replace my CD changer. So far I am happy with it although I wish it included a memory card slot i...

Re: Wingstuff software

You misunderstood, the software does not replace the CD unit, it is used in conjunction with the mp3 player they sell. The mp3 player does in fact replace the Honda CD player if installed, the software just makes it a little easier to set up the USB stick. I ended up buying both the mp3 player and t...

Got it, sometimes it's easier to see what IS there rather than what IS NOT there. You'll have to forgive me, it was a little early this side of the pond.

Re: TO BLING OR NOT TO BLING !! "THAT IS THE BURNING QUESTION " ??

I'm trying to make out what you're referring to in the first picture, is it the extra line running to the gas cap? Otherwise it looks pretty much as it should to me. Regarding the pictures, at least the two riders are wearing helmets! I'm not doing a restoration, I actually sold the 1500 to a good f...

Re: TO BLING OR NOT TO BLING !! "THAT IS THE BURNING QUESTION " ??

When I bought my 1500, it had a bunch of plastic crappy chrome on it, most of which had started to turn green. It also had some chrome bars on the trunk, saddle bags and side covers that required holes to be drilled through the pieces to secure them. I took all that junk off and tried patching holes...

Re: New to me 2006 GL1800P

Are you sure the noise is bearings and not the tire? They can make some odd noises once they have some miles on them. When I got my '01, most of the handlebar pushbutton switches were all gummed up, I pulled them apart and regreased them. Like you, I'm also an engineer and do my own maintenance too ...

Re: GL1800 Speedometer/Odometer reading

The only reason I mentioned the mileage being stored in a computer is because I had changed a gauge cluster on a Sebring convertible to a different style, when I changed it the mileage was the same which told me the cluster was just a display. I agree on trying to DYI it, I'm the same way. Good luck...

Re: GL1800 Speedometer/Odometer reading

I would think it should be like a car in that one of the computers generates the odometer reading and not the gauge cluster itself. My guess is that you also swapped out the computer to get it running? I would think there is no legal way to change it, unless you can find a speedometer shop to do it.

Re: Accessories opinion

I had a Corbin on my 1500 and loved it. I put a stock seat on it for awhile and hated the spongy feel and the vinyl was hot, the Corbin on the other hand was much harder and covered in leather which would breath. It also allowed me to flat foot the bike, the 1500's are pretty wide compared to the 18...

Re: fairing molding repair

I don't think yours are painted are they? On the 2001 they are body color. At Honda Parts Nation they're $83 each, I'm willing to try a fix before shelling out over $160 for a pair of them. I've also tried looking for used ones with no luck yet.

Wingstuff software

Has anyone used the wingstuff software and is it worth it? I'm looking at their USB adapter unit to replace the not working CD player I have and wonder if I would be wasting my money on the software they have.

fairing molding repair

The fairing molding on both sides of my bike have broken attachment points at the bottom, has anyone attempted to fix them? I won't replace them with chrome if anyone suggests that route. I thought maybe building something up with ABS cement might work?
