Re: Not riding? How do you keep yourself busy?

I'm still working security on Sat and Sun, I took a ride out in the desert the other day when it was almost 80 degrees, I have been playing a lot of Division 2 and Digital Combat Simulator flying the Helos and P51 on the computers, where I live I cannot take the old 97 GW apart so I'm having fun a d...

Re: Extra Fuel Tank

Thanks for the suggestions, the thing is the bike runs great, the plugs never blacken or foul, so I'm going to keep running it like it is, due to health stuff my days of tearing apart stuff to tweak it are over, about all I manage now is to do the oil change, like I was saying if I do sell it I will...

Re: Extra Fuel Tank

Well I think what is going on is the carbs were dialed in at 4000+ feet and I live at sea level with most of my riding in the low desert, considering even in the dead of winter here I can pump the throttle once and start the bike without the choke I figured it's probably a touch rich cause of the je...

Re: Extra Fuel Tank

I'm sure people have installed an extra fuel tank on a GL1500. I don't find any information in the forum. I was thinking about building one and mounting it before the license plate in between the saddle bags. I was thinking about tying into the factory fuel lines and then I could use the factory fu...

Re: Old Car Transmission sound?

Thanks for the suggestion, I am coming up on my next oil change so i will try the seafoam cleaning. I have been using 20-50 syn cause of the 106+ temps out here in the summer in the winter I run 10-40 syn.

Old Car Transmission sound?

Hi, my 1997 1500SE makes a sound like an old car does when you put it in gear and slowly accelerate, it does it in 1st and 2nd, I don't notice it in the upper gears unless I slow down to lugging speed then I might hear it. A friend said it sounded like a worn countershaft in an old car trans but nei...

Re: Hi From Hemet, CA

Yea I saw 30 mpg today while cruised to a demo day event. So I am good with the mpg. Got my first lesson about picking it up. I was in neutral walking it back toward a curb and there was a little drainage channel going 45 to the curb. Well I stopped with the front brake but it was too late, it leane...

Re: Hi From Hemet, CA

Well I took it back to The shop they checked the plugs again and they are burning perfect, the mechanic has been working on Goldwing cycles and trikes for a long time and said he could find no vacuum leaks or anything wrong so I guess I will have to get use to 25mpg at 65mph. The max distance I can ...

Re: Hi From Hemet, CA

Thanks to all for the welcome and the info. I took it back to highland cycles where I bought it and they said the carbs were way out of adj and the plugs were all fouled and black. I had them bleed the brakes and check the pads while they were at it. They did not charge me anything and changed the p...

Hi From Hemet, CA

I just picked up a 97 GL1500SE, really pretty black bike. I have always ridden Harleys or standard bikes like the old 900 z1's. had a 117ci chopper but it broke down to much. This thing rides like a Lincoln and being as I had a fusion on my lower back in 06 I really like the ride. In Ca on these sup...
