Do you have stock mufflers??
Yes, exhaust is stock
Mine shuddered more (especially in bumper to bumper in summer) when I had an aftermarket exhaust installed that had no heat shield.
Less now after going back to stock exhaust system

Re: The Magic Is Gone!

I cant imagine a time when the "magic" just drains away! But have always said if I ever get too old or lazy to put my feet down I will put a side car on my wing. So the magic can continue. Or try a lighter bike and then maybe put a side car on that one... So I picked up this last year and use it for...

Re: Minimizing effects of ethanol

Do you have maverick gas stations where you live? Some of them do sell ethanol free fuel. And there is an ethanol free fuel website to check out.

Re: Strange noise?

Well personally sometimes in certain areas around here in the high desert I like to keep the highs on despite occasional oncoming vehicles so just dip them and that appeases oncoming traffic. I commuted many years at night. Then there are the times when I have removed the top shelter or the complete...

Re: Vibration at certain speed

Maybe the driveshaft is vibrating and your feeling it through the handlebars? I had driveshaft u joints go bad and could feel a vibration while also passing through a certain speed. So couldn't say just how much drive line back lash is normal when every thing is within factory specs. But with the ne...

Re: Rear trunk latch

There are two spring loaded plungers that pop the lid up. Maybe on one the spring has shifted position and that plunger wont be pulling its weight. Had this problem myself awhile back, pulled latch assembly out and finagle the spring back into position.

Could be the rather small drain hose is so old its swelled up closed inside? Those hoses are also in the vicinity of the exhaust manifold. Replaced my 06's a few years back and they were mighty CRISPY.

If you have a headlight adjuster motor going bad, it can overdrive and "ratchet" the gear teeth, which make a rhythmic "thunk" "thunk" noise up inside the fork tunnel.
That is not a bad suggestion, but the adjuster only works with the engine running.
But thank you!

Re: 2003 Goldwing Idle Issue

Pull the shelter and both center cowls and look for any chew marks from a rodent. If poor running, wanting to die at stops is the issue, most likely it is a failing ECM. Unfortunately, the DNA in all ECM made back then are telling them to die. The part number is the same for all 2001-03s. So to tes...

Re: Noise from the driveshaft?

I recommend removing the rear brake master cylinder and pedal to have access for the engine drive spline for two reasons. First, you have a great reason to bleed the rear brake system. Second, unless its been out lately, the pedal shaft and pass through the frame needs cleaning and fresh grease. And...

Re: Strange noise?

Yes I've heard that many many times. But no, it was stone cold, first fire of the day. And definitely a thump/click from the Fr of the engine. The purge solenoid is sort of up high behind the lower cowl while the air valve is, as you know, top of the engine and farther back in. My impression the noi...

Strange noise?

This has never happened before and I have owned my 06 since new. Before I could get my cell phone to r...

Re: GL1800A Not starting, No Codes

It starts just fine when warm. So fuel system troubleshooting in my 06 manual. Engine cranks but wont start. (No DTC and MIL blinking) One of the things you can check, is whether the Intake Air control Valve is acting up. Sticking on occasion? It has a gasket and if perhaps its leaking there may be ...
