Re: Off-road Rally Goldwings

I saw that video just a week ago when it popped up in a Google search. I was impressed. I do think the gear ratio and torque of a GL1100 would work pretty well off-road. In my much younger years I had a 250cc Suzuki that had knobby tires and tall suspension, but was still street legal. I took it of...

Re: Roaring Heat Rash!!

Never tried the sheepskin..But many years ago I experienced saddle burn (heat rash) after a brutally hot and humid day sitting in bumper to bumper traffic on the NY southern state parkway. I took an old towel 045.JPG and two bungees and WA-LA no more burn at all since then. I have ridden 100's of th...

My vote is ditch the gauge and forget the light for one of these from Electrical connection. less wiring and its right there.

Re: Handlebars closer to me.

I used MBL innovations he has two sizes for the 1800. Excellant product....And reasonably priced. :D The set I have Moves the bars back 1 1/2 and bar ends in 2 1/4. I sat on the bike and had a friend with a measuring tape helped me to determine exactly where my new position would be. I'm 5 11 140 l...

Re: speaker covers

Does anyone have a sure-fire method for keeping the speaker covers on the instrument panel from coming dis-lodged? I've lost three of them so far and am tired of replacing them. It usually happens after hitting a sharp bump. Sure would appreciate some good ideas. Stay away from sharp bumps.... ;) S...

Have you looked at the wires that run along side the trunk hinges? The constant open and closing of the trunk really does a number on them over time.

Re: My two cents

I can reiterate that. I put a set in over 40,000 miles ago at 78,000 miles and likewise, prior to the Allballs install, my tires would cup after 4,000-5,000 miles and had the decel wobbles And now at 40,000 miles still no cupping until after 14,000 miles and more. And no decel wobbles. I'll be putt...

My two cents

Back in December before mounting a fresh set of Bridgestones before a March ride to key west Fl. I installed a set of the all balls tapered roller bearings and said I would report back. So after 14200 miles here are photos of my fr tire taken 180 degrees apart. 002.JPG 002.JPG I have ridden two new ...

Re: Any dual sport riders here?

I am seriously thinking of looking for a BMW GSA later this year. I do heavy touring with my wing and dont know how many times I have passed an interesting dirt road and wistfully thought, wish I could go down that road. I backpack in the sierras so camping out with an adventure bike off the beaten...

Re: Lagging between 2 & 3 thousand RPMs

Did you thoroughly check and or replace all any and all vacuum line and soft parts in and around the carbs or on top on the engine? friend of mine just finished doing what you did to his 96 1600. It idled just fine till the throttle was cracked. He wanted to blame the carb re-builder. Long story sho...

Re: Roadfaxit VIN check scam?

Well, it gets sadder. My bank called this morning to ask about some charges they had flagged; they weren't mine. Could be a coincidence that someone got our card number (it happens) but just seems damned unlikely. It was mainly nickel-and-time stuff, but adds up. In the old days they charged plane ...

Re: waterless antifreeze

I also had the concern of if I was away from home and needed some coolant, The folks at Evans ask for a sample of the fluid after it was in the bike for a while to see how much water was in it, They told me around 10 % would be fine, Mine tested good when I send the sample BUT I bought another gal,...

Re: waterless antifreeze

Correct. Adding anything with water in it will negate its efficiency. What I was told didn't sound as benign as that. Too use this stuff there is a procedure to remove all water/coolant from the system. And its not possible to put any water in after that. So I like the idea of going water less but ...
