Not only do they give you more air during warm weather but if you ride during cooler times they will direct cooler air away from you by increasing the frontal size of the fairing.

I rode almost 30 years without them. Now I wonder why I waited so long too get them.

I will fess up...Finally had mine checked at 198400 miles. 3 intakes were off. two by 3000th one by 2000th as per Honda.
But, your mileage may vary....ha!

Will have Honda check them again this winter, as it will be about 270K by then.

Was the fairing off? if so maybe the tip over sensor was not reconnected?

I think I have seen that happen on my 06 but its been so long I dont recall the reason or even if I ever figured it out.
But having said all that go to system setup/info and try resetting defaults.
