Re: Tour DCT accessory installation tips

I just cut and pasted it to a text file on my HD for future reference, but it would be nice to see a How-to-Articles section on the 2018 started up. MattC has posted a spreadsheet of all the steps necessary to do multiple installations stalls. My post was just some tip/tricks/and oopsies. Maybe inq...

Re: 2018 Wing Trunk Rack damper installation

Trying to install the accessory trunk rack dampers. Absolutely can not get the last pin to line up through the hinge and through the damper rod end hole. Have tried installing pins in different order, have tried compressing the damper (takes lots of force) and no luck. The holes in the hinge and th...

Aux cord installation

Flumoxed. 2018 Tour DCT. The aux cord installation instructions show it running from inside the trunk to a connector just to the left of the fuel port. This cord is only about 15" long. How in the world is it supposed to reach? :surprise: Thanks anyone! ps, This is my 4th model Wing, and by far it i...

Re: Battery Tenders

Something else to think of, I have a new Wing and a new Tiger 800. I put in a switched fuse block that also has a separate cord to splice the positive SAE side of the receiving SAE wire into, with the other side of the SAE just going to ground. As soon as you turn on the bikes ignition, it turns off...

Re: A comparison between the 2018 and 2001 GoldWing

Just put 198 miles on my new Tour DCT on my first day out. Mostly tour mode, a little bit of sport mode. Totally mixed day: meandering thru rural areas, highway, and some twisties. Speed 30 - 70mph. Computer said I averaged 49.9mpg. When I topped off and did the math (both tops off were filled exact...

Re: Powerlet Outlets

here's the best option IMHO. 2 switched -one for gps or powelet, one for the VIRB camera; and one unswitched for battery tender. I had one in each of my several bikes. Quality stuff. Since I know nada about can bus, this feeds off the battery terminals and switches off the aux terminal in the fuse ...

Powerlet Outlets

OK, so where are you mounting your Powerlet Outlets? Need one in the back from SOs vest, and one in front for radar detector (will use cig ltr adapter) and/or vest. Also, anyone figure out where to hardwire a radar detector? I'm guessing will have to install an accessory connector like maybe the PDM...

Re: A comparison between the 2018 and 2001 GoldWing

Just picked up my new Blue Tour DCT yesterday. Getting ready to tear it down to install all the farkles before I ride it. I too have an old 1800. A beautiful black '03 with 76,000 miles. Running into the same problem. No one wants an old bike regardless of condition. No bites at all. Can't see keepi...

what about a sena bluetooth Freewire receiver? or are you going to use wired headsets on the new bike? Gary I looked at this on SENA and for the life of me i I can't figure out what it's for. I just bought a SENA SRL for use with my new Shoes Neotec 2. Will post here if I have problems with it conn...

Re: Accessories

That's something I've wondered about - pulling a trailer with the new GL1800. I know Big Bike Parts is working on a trailer hitch for it, and I'm sure others are as well. For the six speed GL1800, it should be a non-issue. But when it comes to the DCT...that's another thing. The DCT has to do thing...

I am interested in finding instructions on removing the plastics. I want to run some wiring and hate the idea of just starting to pull and tug on some of these parts.
The Honda accessories have instructions for pulling the plastic with them.

Re: Accessories

You were pretty upset at least initially with the new redesign, what changed your mind? How are you liking it so far? Great question. I've only had a short test ride. I'll bring it home tomorrow. Decision was based on several things. My '03 is getting old and is really outdated. Although I've maint...

Accessories

Just bought a new Blue Tour DCT.  Here's a list of accessories I just ordered.  Any suggestions on anything else (besides bling/chrome, etc) that would require stripping all the plastic off before I start the project?  Don't want to have to do this more than once.  :-/ Fog lights (with harne...

Re: 2018 GOLDWING SPECIFICATIONS

Yes, I agree that a speed limiter is odd, and I don't understand why they did it, but how often is that going to be an issue for me? I have issues with this bike also, primarily regarding storage, and the potential loss of range, but I'm buying one anyway. I used to pull a Bushtec, and wasn't too cr...

Re: New 2018 Goldwing Survey

So what technology would you recommend that Honda put on the new Wing that isn't there now? Maybe blind spot monitoring. Could have made the LCD a touchscreen, but thumb control is probably safer. Maybe given us more ability to do things with Nav other than adding " go home and waypoint deletion" li...

Honda, if you are reading this, as soon as you fix the storage issue, you are going to have myself and many others placing orders.

Thanks

Re: All you need to know about the new 2018 Goldwing

I like the idea of deeper saddlebag lids too. Expanding bags? Now that's an interesting idea. Maybe Honda could take this opportunity to introduce a Goldwing Tour XL with larger saddle bag and trunk capacity. Wouldn't take many new parts to accomplish. Sort of like how the Suburban is an extended le...

Re: New 2018 Goldwing Survey

The new wing looks and sounds awesome. Can't believe some of the responses. First there's a lot of bitching and moaning about no changes to the wing and how "old and outdated" it was. So Honda comes up with something truly unique and different! The big moans seem to be 1. Less fuel tank size- don't...

Re: The brand-new 2018 Goldwing?

WOW! That's very odd. A bud of mine asked how heavy my bike was to pick up. So I laid it down and he couldn't believe how EZ it was. He did the same for me of his. He has a full bagger like the Wing. Now mind you the angles were pretty close to the same for both bikes. HOLY KRAP! :o did I grunt jus...

Re: The brand-new 2018 Goldwing?

There only isn't a stand on the "Bagger". But it can be added as an option. There are tip over bars. Look at the pictures with the fairing removed. You can only see the business part of them and they're covered in plastic. Whether they will protect as well as the current Wing I don't know. Smaller t...

Re: All you need to know about the new 2018 Goldwing

If you define change as the loss of ability to tour two-up due to the two glove compartments they call saddlebags, then yes, I agree with you. If you define "change" as not taking advantage of what should have been a real powerhouse, then no I don't. I don't like pulling trailers. Been there, done t...
