Re: SoCalMotoGear Pathfinder LED Headlights - 2nd Generation

I am so very tired of being blinded by all manor of vehicles using new lights. It is like a lighthouse beam in my face, on low beam. On high beam, I usually get burnt! Most of the LED lights are terrible. Yeah some of new vehicles aren't that great for oncoming drivers, even worse though is all the...

Re: Retiring

Congrats! I still have a little ways but funny that this topic came up because I've been thinking about when I do. I've started working hard at making sure I can comfortably stop working asap :) It's never too early to start getting things lined up, when that time does come around I'll be glad I got...

Re: What would you stick in here?

How about a new version of this being made from two pieces? Not sure if that's what others were getting at in the above posts, but how about vacuum mold the top visible piece where you mount the gauges and 3D print an underside structure piece with the posts and use an ABS glue like black plumbers c...

Re: Photo Tag ---Anyone want to play?

Adding another option to try and move this along... Your Goldwing at a Christmas tree lot, bonus points if you actually have a tree on it lol. Even more bonus points if you get people scratching their head in the pic wondering what the heck you're doing  So you can get your 'Wing in a pic with ...

Re: Photo Tag ---Anyone want to play?

Did that one - check page 13. Oh, and we don't have them in Europe. No red barns in Europe? I'll be darned, I thought that was kind of a universal thing. It's getting hard thinking of interesting stuff... Ok, the above mentioned signs with no mileage restrictions, or your Goldwing by one of those r...

Re: Photo Tag ---Anyone want to play?

Hi Stew: It's been over a month since this mark w/o any answer, won't you think it'll be time to call a new one to keep it rolling?? Thank you in advance. Mario Sounds good to me! We'll get rid of the requirement for those signs to be greater than 50 miles (I actually thought this was going to be p...

Re: Pics of painted chrome garnish above headlight?

Wow that small pic of the black painted one looks really good! The bra also looks good but not as good as the paint ;) . I was thinking about vinyl or plastidip as well.

Tony, definitely keep sharing your progress, what color are you going to be painting?

Pics of painted chrome garnish above headlight?

Anyone who's painted the honking big chrome garnish below the windshield got pics to share? I was wondering how that would look color matched to the bike on the later 1500's but would like to see any and everything. Deciding if that's something I want to do...

Not sure either but wanted to take a minute and say that your friend obviously has excellent taste regarding his color choice. Of course I am slightly biased as you can see from my avatar pic :D

Re: Getting a 93 Aspencade running after 4 years sitting

That windshield looks pretty good, can’t imagine you’d get any static about the blue tint along the bottom. Is there much left on your to-do list (besides the grip maybe) or are you all caught up?

Re: Does anyone really use their CB radios any more?

Nah not at the moment but thinking down the road. If the time comes where I need additional switch space I’d rather use the CB spot instead of a solution like the master cylinder mounted switch panels. But you are right, it doesn’t cost anything to just leave it there :D

Re: Does anyone really use their CB radios any more?

I've been looking down at my CB panel almost since I got this bike thinking if I'd ever use it... I doubt it. The only person I've ever ridden with from time to time is my son and he probably doesn't know what a CB is, his generation is bluetooth all the way. If I broke down I'd always have my cell ...

Re: gl1500A no start

Another thing to check is the neutral safety switch, I replaced mine a few months ago because it was causing a no-start problem for me. Fortunately it's an inexpensive common part used on a lot of Hondas. It is located next to the oil dipstick, you can see pics on my thread: https://goldwingdocs.com...

Re: SoCalMotoGear Pathfinder LED Headlights - 2nd Generation

Good review, glad to hear both systems are comparable and that the SoCalMotoGear's aren't noticeably better than the EC's I just bought! I also wanted to mention that I do have that little flyaway exactly like in your picture with my EC's so maybe it's not the bulbs but some minor bulb positioning w...

Re: fuel, ignition or worse peoblem?

Others have reported a vacuum developing in the fuel tank from a poorly venting gas cap causing it to be starved for fuel. Easy enough to see if that’s it, next time it happens pop the gas cap off and see if it’s back to normal, if so it’s your gas cap.

Re: No helmet

Just thinking of riding without a helmet makes me cringe. Get down on your hands and knees and start tapping your head on the pavement, it doesn't take much for it to start feeling uncomfortable, now imaging hitting your head on the pavement at 35 mph, 45, or whatever speed you're going when you wre...

I had also taken my radio that far apart not long ago to manually eject a cassette, mine has also been working fine ever since. I think they sometimes just need to some of those internal connectors removed/replaced to freshen up the connections :)

There used to be a standard DIN adapter available for the 1500 but it hasn't been made for a while. If we're putting in parts requests in the following thread maybe we could add that to the list! :D

Re: 1995 GL1500 SE 20th Anniversary Canadian Edition

Here's what I did. I connected an automotive 30 amp socket/relay to the accessory terminals at the top of the fuse panel on the left side of the bike, and that relay switches battery power to an aux fuse panel. The relay and socket are small and live under the seat, the aux fuse panel is velcro'd to...

Re: Aux input for the cassette deck ??? HELP!

It depends on how the aux circuit is incorporated. On my radio, I intercepted the preamp lines, and ran them through a relay. I can choose either the radio/tape audio, or my audio, depending on the relay. This relay is then switched using a switch (or in my case, an electronic controller that I bui...
