Re: New 2018 Goldwing Survey

There is certainly a lot of negative views on this site , have any of you ridden the 2018 ? It rides and handles so much better than any previous wing , wind protection from the smaller fairing is equally as good as any other 1800 , only place I notice a difference is in the rain my boots get a lit...

Re: New 2018 Goldwing Survey

Wow. Survey not only looks poor for future sales, it really isn't any surprise to me. No surprise at all. I think Honda may have to make a couple of options available, to say the least! But who knows.

Re: Changing rear brake pads on 202 GL1800A

Your Avatar is impressive. I did get rid of the knock. I'm sure you're correct about hitting a rivet or something. I pulled the pad back out and pressed it to the arch of the rotor, and rotated the wheel clockwise up into the caliper. Felt around and put it in. I was able to see from the other side...

Re: Changing rear brake pads on 202 GL1800A

No more clicking or knocking, but I do have that rubbing, which sounds like the pads to the rotor. Not perfectly steady. A bit of highs and lows probably from a very slightly warped rotor? 1. is the rubbing sound normal? how long? 2. The pads I took out were OEM. Never been changed before. Should I...

Re: Changing rear brake pads on 202 GL1800A

Sorry ... didn't read your whole post, but hopefully enough of it to help. Although Honda has superseded the rear pad part number through the years, I don't believe, at least to my eye, that I can tell the difference between the pads over the years. The OEM pads are what I would want in my Wing. It...

Re: Changing rear brake pads on 202 GL1800A

I know this should have been the easiest thing to do, but not in my world. I have a 2009. I purchased Honda OEM so it would be simple and smooth. No changes. I open the new pads and continue. I take a look at the existing pads for an idea of how it should look when done. Can't see much of the rear b...

Re: 2018 GOLDWING SPECIFICATIONS

Yes, I agree that a speed limiter is odd, and I don't understand why they did it, but how often is that going to be an issue for me? I have issues with this bike also, primarily regarding storage, and the potential loss of range, but I'm buying one anyway. I used to pull a Bushtec, and wasn't too c...

Re: 2018 GOLDWING SPECIFICATIONS

So, buy a different horse. That's sorta what I'm doing. I was looking at 2017's. It seems the prices had a real nice drop for awhile, but now the prices seem to have popped back up a bit? I assume I'm not the only one unhappy with the 2018 and looking for new 2017's. I may have to not only buy a di...

Re: New 2018 Goldwing Survey

I must be missing something,(Not the first time, or the last) I have read a few comments that the touring has no center stand.(I can't belive "center" was not in the computer dictionary or belive) any ways, all the pictures and videos I have seen of the touring model standing still show it standing...

Re: New 2018 Goldwing Survey

You can't have your cake and eat it too. Does Honda want the Goldwing to be a sport bike or the turnpike tourer it's always been? It can't be both. As the tourer it was without equal and was the gold standard. As a sport bike, IMHO, it falls short of the STs, BMWs, or Concours. Heck, my 2006 650 Bu...

Re: 2018 GOLDWING SPECIFICATIONS

I've owned five GL1800s and an Aspencade 1500... I've read the reviews, watched the review videos, compared the two in person, and reviewed the specs of each; but it comes down to this, and is one of the most telling aspects of the two rides... Previous GL1800 Speedometers top out at 150mph 2018 GL...

Re: 2018 GOLDWING SPECIFICATIONS

What a bunch of whiny old men that don't want to keep up with technology I have ridden Goldwings since the first generation and each subsequent generation has been better than the previous one. No one here has ridden the 2018 and yet many have preconceived notions of what they don't don't like abou...

Re: 2018 GOLDWING SPECIFICATIONS

I just don't get Honda's thinking on this. A top of the line Touring bike, and they reduce luggage space?? Why stop there. They probably have no need to ride long distances on this premier Touring bike so, Let's reduce fuel capacity too! Oh yeah, and they probably don't want a lot of wind protectio...

Re: 2018 GOLDWING SPECIFICATIONS

Appears they stretched the stroke and came with a smaller bore? Why not just keep the same bore? Make the bore even larger, if you're set on changing the bore. Smaller fuel capacity and less luggage are enough to say no, for me. Less travel on the front end? Less luggage? What were they thinking at ...
