Re: Clutch problem

Okay - got the proper fluid, took the reservoir apart. I put just a bit of fluid in the unit - both in the bottom and a bit in what looks like a diaphragm. Question - does the fluid go in the black diaphragm only or in the reservoir itself? I should have initially advised - I am mechanically challe...

Re: Clutch problem

Couple of simple things to look at . Try adjusting the lever throw on the clutch handle......it might be adjusted to short. Try setting it to position number one. If that dose not work try bleeding the clutch system. There my be air in the lines or the brake oil (clutch fluid) may be old and needs t...

Re: GL1800 cooling fan wiring modification kit

All most every bike I have had I have done the fan switch tech tip. All you need is some wire, clips and a switch (lighted or not. Just locate the sending unit in the rad. Look to see if it is 2 wire or one. If it is a one wire then run one side of your switch to the sending unit wire. Run the other...

Re: fuel dumping from carb, coming out rt. exhaust

Just for the heck of it try tapping on the float bowls of each carb.....sounds like a float is sticking in one or more of the carbs. Some times taps on them will free the float.

Re: 2003 1800 ECT fault

Sounds like you still have a simple problem causing your issues. There are 2 things you can by pass with a jumper wire to see if the problem goes away. Try unplugging the eng kill switch where it connects to the harness. Take a jumper wire across the harness plug. If it keeps running then the kill s...

Re: 2003 1800 ECT fault

Hopefully I'm not speaking too soon but it looks like I got lucky and the easy fix worked. I cleaned the kill switch, and all the other switches in the rt handlebar group. Gone about 180 miles so far and no further problems. As a bonus I got my cruise on-off switch freed up (again). /quote] Like I ...

Re: Computer Fuel Injection 1986 GL1200 SEI

You might want to try some sea foam to help clean the injectors and the rest of the system. If the gas was that bad the whole system may be plugged up. just keep starting it and let it run as long as it will to get the sea foam threw out the system. I am sure some one else may have a idea or too also.

After that that bike has had no more problems.....needless to say I clean all the switches with elc cleaner. You might want to try it for kicks....you wou...

Take to sheet metal screws and screw them into the seal across from each other.....pull on the screws. Surprised a screw driver wont pop it out though.

Best thing to do is just go threw the bike for your own piece of mind. Do a service on her so you know for yourself it has been done and what has been done. Or go threw the service records if the PO had them to give you. Mufflers.....it is just up to you on what you want to put on it.....myself if I...

Re: Electrical issue

If your plug was burnt from the regulator to your stator I would check and see if the stator is grounded in the motor. The coils get hot and will ground. When they do it will burn and short at the white plug to the reg. If the stator is grounded then it needs replacing and it my have taken the reg. ...

You said the master clyn. was dry and had a leak in it so you replaced it. When you replaced the master clyn. did you bleed IT first before bleeding the rest of the clutch system?? The master clyn has to be free of air bubbles before you bleed the clutch. Break the clutch line loose at the master cl...

Follow the pos battery wire from the battery to the relay behind the Battery. If you have checked everything and think every thing is good and the battery voltage is up around 12,2 to 12.5 then try jumping the relay. Turn the key on in the running position and cross the relay terms....the bike shoul...

Re: Antifreeze Leaking

I would like to do that. But it looks like I will have to remove a lot of parts to get to the water pump area. It's also possible that a clamp may be broken. I am trying to find out if there is an easy way to get to that area to check the clamps without having to pull half the bike apart..... Its a...
