Re: First time posters, say hello!

Hi Todd
Welcome. I believe what your freind told you is close to universal. I see the same pattern here in Denmark.
Every Goldwing trip usually ends with an icecream.

Re: How to remove, rebuild and reinstall your starter

Might have some shorted windings in the rotor. If so, every time brush passes over that commutator pad excess current flows, shortening the life of the brush. You can check with ohmmeter or test light, there should be no continuity between any of the commutator pads and the rotor shaft. There is no...

Re: How to remove, rebuild and reinstall your starter

What's the symptoms you are seeing when it needs service? What are you finding when you go in there? What service have you been performing to correct it? Maybe we can figure out what to do to make it last years instead of months. Usually it cranks poorly, this time IT did not crank at All. I got IT...

Re: How to remove, rebuild and reinstall your starter

How often would you think this should be necessary. My starter acts up about every 6th month, I give et a good clean og it runs for another 6 month. I think it is a bit to often. Are these old starters poorly constructed

Re: GL1100 Turns over slowly

Slow cranking is often from trouble in the power wiring / components like battery, starter motor and heavy cables & connections. But, turning the bars full left would not affect any of that. So, I'm guessing the slow cranking is due to loss of ignition. With no help whatsoever from the plugs, it cr...

Re: GL1100 Turns over slowly

Slightly smaller, but more ah an cca. Just recommending the correct size. There are many good quality AGM batteries that fit that will meet your CCA requirements. Ride safe. I know, I went by the shop yesterday, and it didn't because the terminals where to close together, due to the slightly smalle...

Re: GL1100 Turns over slowly

Yup, that battery is toast. My battery IS an AGM battery, and I plug it into my tender every time I come back from a ride because mine has the onboard computer and trip command which is always on due to the clock running, so its best that mine stays on the tender whenever im not using it. Yours mig...

Re: GL1100 Turns over slowly

I think it's time for a nice AGM battery. Does AGM need modified chargingsystem? Nope, just drop it in and be amazed at how well it starts. Check this link. This is the battery I have on my 86 Aspy SEi...........https://www.oreillyauto.com/detail/b/power-sport-agm-5001/powersport-25066/motorcycle--...

Re: GL1100 Turns over slowly

You said the battery is only a year old? Do you keep it on a battery tender? To me, it appears that your battery is a little low on acid. you need to fill it up to the top lines, and the post connectors look to be a little on the corroded side. Clean them up with a toothbrush size wire brush or a b...

GL1100 Turns over slowly

My wing ones again, are having trouble turning over the engine. I have given the starter an overhaul, new brushes and a solid cleaning. While tending to the starter, I charged the battery. First couple of startups was perfect, i barely hat to grace the starterbottum and she was puring. I let her war...

Re: First time posters, say hello!

Hey and welcome. I would choose Michelin over Bridgestone. My old wing had the bt45 when I bought it, and I do not trust them i humit or wet wheather. Even my little silverwing did not grib like i wanted on the bt45. I tried Avon on my wifes star, and my old katana, they grib well, but wear fast. Th...
