Re: Compatible rear master cylinder push rods

Sure but what's underneath the pitting? How far down does it go?

Compatible rear master cylinder push rods

Hi everyone. The rear master cylinder push rods on my 83 Aspencade is pitted and I'm not sure how bad the pitting has to be before it becomes a hazard. But just to be safe I'm interested in getting a new one. I've seen some on eBay for other Hondas that look like they will work but Im not having any...

Re: Flushing my radiator; pieces of rubber coming out.

There should be no silicone, RTV or any other kind of sealant applied to the water pump. It uses a gasket. I don't know the name of the part but it connects directly to the radiator hose. Short screws and exposes the impeller. It has an o-ring, which is being replaced. This is where the overdose of...

Re: Flushing my radiator; pieces of rubber coming out.

Update: Pulled the radiator, hoses were intact yet old, pulled the water pump housing cover and there it was. The pieces of rubber were part of a sealant that was applied for water tightness (silicone?). I scraped it off and now have to find an alternative as well as a new o ring. Any suggestions?

Re: Flushing my radiator; pieces of rubber coming out.

After changing head gaskets on 1100's a few times, I've noticed that the surfaces of the gaskets that are open to the water jackets tend to flake off, however this doesn't seem to affect the sealing areas of the gaskets that are sandwiched between the head and block. It may just be little pieces of...

Re: Flushing my radiator; pieces of rubber coming out.

1983 Aspencade. Probably nothing to worry about in the short term?? Wrong. Those hoses are ready to burst. Proceed to change, or... Cosmo Thanks for the warning. I will be picking up new hoses tomorrow. Is it okay if the radiator sits dry overnight? Should I do a vinegar flush again or is a distill...

Re: Flushing my radiator; pieces of rubber coming out.

Greetings, You didn't mention the model or age of the bike but I would venture that you have radiator hoses degrading from the inside. Replace all hoses to be sure. You'll be able to see deterioration on the inside of the old hoses, if that's the case. 1983 Aspencade. Probably nothing to worry abou...

Flushing my radiator; pieces of rubber coming out.

I'm doing a radiator flush with vinegar and distilled water and there are pieces of rubber in the solution after I drain it. Not a lot, but they're noticable. Three flushes so far: Rubber pieces the first time (cool solution drained) , clean the second time (cool solution drained) rubber pieces the ...

Re: Schrader Valve Question

You got it. That stuff makes it nice and slippery and easy to get the tire on, but it causes the aluminum to corrode like crazy. I use bead sealing lubricant, which is kind of like a grease, but when using balancing beads, you have to be very careful about using the minimal amount possible, and onl...

Key can be removed from ignition while bike is running

Hi all. Since I had the bike, the key can pulled out of the ignition regardless of whatever mode it's in. However, the key works fine on the luggage and false tank locks. I had a new key cut which didn't solve the ignition problem and it didn't work on the other locks. I would like to keep everythin...

Read this "How To" to repair. viewtopic.php?f=11&t=690 . No the fairing doesn't come apart. You can access the underside of the hole by removing the fairing pocket cover and then the pocket.
Gave it to you already. ;)
Got it.

Re: How do I repair THIS?

It never ceases to amaze me how much damage people can do to these motorcycles through ignorance and stupidity. What kind of hack would butcher your fairing like that to mount a stupid car mirror! My bike had a similar idiot previous owner who used a drill and jig saw to cut two speaker holes in my...

Need info on repairing this......

PO thought it was a good idea to mount car mirrors inside the fairing. What can possibly go right?
I'm thinking plastic putty and drywall mesh tape. Does the fairing come apart?

Re: Do I need to rebuild my calipers?

The cap just twists off..no pushing down.try some goose necks??? left side how far back I thought you said center bike? If so could be the connection at the caliper line..a caliper leak would be on the tail pipe part. Look at a parts fiche for your year at eh rear break master, to see possibilities...

Re: Do I need to rebuild my calipers?

Pull the right side side cover off..sounds like the master or the splitter is leaking. I checked but didn't see anything. I tried to open the brake fluid reservoir but it won't budge. Do I need to push down and turn? The fluid is dripping off the left muffler and can be traced coming from a higher ...

Do I need to rebuild my calipers?

Hi everybody. I have a 1983 Aspencade I'm restoring. It came with the standard issue hard-to-move rear brake pedal and I have been working on freeing it up with success. The issue is when I move the brake pedal up and down, an oily fluid drips from around the middle of the chassis. I'm assuming that...
