Re: So you need to wire your bike for a trailer

My trailer has been wired to 3 bikes in the 11 yrs I have had it. The first 2 bikes (86 Yama Venture & 2000 Kawi voyager) were a nightmare to wire yrs ago. With the GL1500, i ordered the plug & play harness from Cyclemax and it was a breeze.

Re: I wonder why....alternator light?

I have never gone this far to add idiot light. Good idea tho. After mine leaving me sitting at an intersection at 5:30 am in the dark on the way to work a couple yrs ago, I just added a digital volts gauge. Not hard to see so i will see if it ever changes. Maybe one day I will add this.

Re: Bike Lift Advice in the UK please

I have had my lift for probably 8 yrs. It is, here in Canada, our Canadian Tire name brand Motomaster. 1500 lb capacity. My GL1500 wing is up on it now and will be till spring. I use it with a lot of trust in my favorite stores brand. I can do anything to my bike. Even remove rear tire and put back ...

I think you are ok bigred92. This mine and I just put it back together a bit ago.

You didn't tighten the pinch bolt to much before snugging up axle bolt did you. Make the shaft pulled thru all the way.

Re: How to remove and replace your rear wheel

Thanks so much for the quick reply. By removing the final drive, I was able to remove the wheel without having to remove my tow bar. Now onto the next DIY article! Was there lots of lube on the splines of the drive flange and final drive when you finally got it out. Wondering why the drive flange d...

Re: How to replace your dash lights with LEDs

I might use this procedure to get to the speakers. There is a thin foam piece inside mine that is probably supposed to cover speaker, but over the yrs it just moves around and folds up in there. Might as well, With the exception of removing the instrument cluster, you'll need to do all this to get ...

Re: A new method of demounting and remounting tires on rims

instead of those pretty straps, I have seen tire guys use big Zip Ties and do the same thing. that idea has been around for a very long time, it just does not seem to get much publicity. I thought about zip ties as well, but they are harder and narrower - and I didn't want to cut or otherwise damag...

Re: Alternate (Simple) Voltmeter Installation

Nice. I put one of these on my GL1500 last winter after being stranded on way to work at 5:30 am in the morning when my alt calved and I had no warning. https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B010HM43RQ/ref=pe_3034960_233709270_TE_item Since mine isn't an SE and I don't have the adjustment knob on right side, I u...

Re: Wing has blacked out, won't start

This is a How to wire in an accessory fuse panel video(from the web) for the gl1500. This shows putting the panel in under the left pocket. Note! He says to get the ground off the bike ground....not a good plan. Rather, run a new wire directly to the battery ground lug to bypass the bike harness. B...

My 88 doesn't have all those fancy lights on the handlebar controls so one less job to do lol. Guess they waited a couple yrs to add lights. But that blue is pretty Sharp.

Interesting posts. Enjoyed them. Even the tiger lol. Have never hit an animal other then a bird taking out my windshield back in the 80's on my 74 550/4 Honda. Been chased by dogs before but they never caught up. Yrs ago my brother hit a groundhog and a skunk with his GL1800. The skunk made an obvio...

Re: Average age ?

About two years ago, after I had bought this Goldwing, I saw some HD riders on the side of the road. I knew one of them too. Anyway, I stopped across the highway from them and asked if I could help. The one I knew did not even look at me and one of the others told me to F*ck Off, they had it under ...

Re: Senior Moment and ABS Solvent Cement

Good idea. I have never thought about losing one. Each time I have taken one off, I have kinda fought with it getting it off, so never think it will come loose. Ya, I said the same thing until one time I inserted it, didn't feel right, pulled it off VERY EASILY and noticed the rubber grommet was pu...

Re: Senior Moment and ABS Solvent Cement

Two summers ago, I tipped over while riding on dirt with sand washed across it. I had gotten through 5 of the sandy areas but #6 was my undoing. I ended up scrapping and cracking parts, mainly breaking the lower cowling. I have looked for replacements but they aren't the right color and incredibly ...
