Re: Sena 30k Headsets with Freewire Intercom Problem
I use J&M rather than Sena, but have the exact same problem. J&M updated the units since then, which they installed for me at no cost. The problem is not as bad, but definitely still there. Their suggestion to me was to set the helmet BT volume at max., and the bike's intercom vol. at about ...

Re: tire pressure sensors
My '17 does that, but only when the ambient temperature is somewhat lower than it was when I adjusted the pressure last. I recently went camping at high altitude and would get the light for a few miles first thing in the morning. It was at least 20 deg. F lower than it had been at home. After drivin...

Re: Flash Drive in the USB Port in the Trunk
I think it will come down to the source of the music, and whether or not you can just transfer it outright. If I figure it out I'll post the solution. Thanks.

Re: Flash Drive in the USB Port in the Trunk
Thank you for that. I did this and it worked as the video described. The problem was that the music doesn't show up when the drive is plugged into the bike. That is assuming I am not missing something on the bike's end. I plugged it in, turned on audio, and selected AUX. It looks ok. The flash drive...

Flash Drive in the USB Port in the Trunk
My question is regarding transferring music from iTunes to a flash drive for use with the USB port in the trunk with the AUX function. I transferred the music from iTunes to my iMac, then from the iMac to a flash drive. It appeared to work. When I selected a song from the flash drive on the iMac it ...

Re: Honda disgraced themselves with the 2018 Goldwing
The new 2018 Wing is a vastly superior motorcycle compared to the older Wings. With each generation, they have improved and this new version is no exception. As for the electronics in all reality we motorcyclists would be better off if we did not have those distractions. If you don't put 100% of yo...

J&M Bluetooth Audio
I am posting this to several GW forum sites because I don't know how much crossover traffic there is between sites. When I wanted a new GW early this year, but decided after a lot of research that I couldn't live with some of the changes in the 2018, I decided on a new 2017. I learned about the same...

J&M Bluetooth Audio
Just need to give a shout out to give credit where it is due. Bought a bluetooth audio system from J&M Corp. early this year when they were first released. I've had integration problems with it. Sent an email stating the problem and received an answer that night from the owner, John Lazzeroni, a...

Re: No helmet
The photos of that helmet give me flash-backs. Shortly after learning to ride a drunk hit me in the rear at 70 mph. I was doing 25, went over the hood, took out his windshield with my butt, and went upward. The policeman said that by the marks on the road, I went about 200 feet through the air befor...

Re: No helmet
Two objections to using a helmet seem to dominate these conversations. 1: Reduced peripheral vision. 2: Increased risk of spinal cord injury due to the extra weight of the head. IMO #1 is not valid because if that is important, helmets are available that cause no reduction to vision. #2 is tougher b...

Re: When I'm King
Texting or talking on the phone while driving would result in an automatic mandatory one-year license suspension and a $10,000 fine. DUI would be mandatory lifetime suspension and a $100,000 fine. Just before I retired the fine for using a hand-held phone while driving a truck was $2600 to the drive...

Re: Rationalizing Bikes
I have succumbed to the phenomenon of riding other bikes as well, and it does get expensive. When I think of my first Wing, a '79 GL1000, it's nothing but good memories. Realistically, it had everything I needed. Plenty of power. Smooth. Quiet. It handled as well as my ability could push it. Sure, t...

Re: GPS daylight saving time problem
Maybe it's something in setup. I have a '17 and it has changed seamlessly from the start. Freaked me out because I've never had one do that. Not in my cars or on the Garmin Navi is used to use. I was so fascinated by it I started watching the clock as I would cross a time zone. It's usually within s...

Re: Bluetooth Advice
J&M is another way to go. You only need one dongle vs two with Sena, but the headsets are more so I think it would be about the same cost. One major difference you may find is in costumer service. Another is that J&M is wired directly to the system. There is no charging and it turns off and ...

Re: 1800 Speedometer Accuracy
My '01 shows 73 or 74 at 70. I haven't checked the odometer on the '17 yet. I just assumed that since the speedo is right on and they are driven off the same cable they would be the same. It's irritating though. I've heard it said that they show them fast because they want to slow down the bikes. Th...

1800 Speedometer Accuracy
Does anyone know if Honda has changed the setup for the speedometer on the 1800? My ‘01 has always run about 5% fast, which I understand is normal. I had 2 Ventures before that which did the same. I just checked the speedo on my ‘17 with a handheld GPS and it is spot on. And I mean spot on, at least...

Re: How cold will ya'll ride?
I'd been on a ride one winter around the Gulf Coast, which was beautiful. The last morning, coming home, it was 0 F when I left the motel. Had on a heated vest, gloves, and socks with chaps though. Also a full face helmet with an insulated pull-over for face & neck. I was fairly comfortable. I d...

Re: Bluetooth Advice
I decided on the J&M with the 45mm speakers. Haven’t heard any other BT units but I have to say this is the best sound I’ve heard on a motorcycle. I’ve always been wired and upgraded headsets regularly, but this is much better than anything I’ve had so far. Music is excellent. Intercom and phone...

Re: J&M Elite 787 Headset Review - and Installation How To
Looks like J&M is into the bluetooth game with retro update kit for Elite 787 headset. Good battery life, and J&M quality. Nice to see they've thrown their hat into the wireless game. -FzsTHkxU7U I just got helmets back from J&M with their Bluetooth units installed. I don’t have the don...

2nd Gen. Differences
I've been sort of out of the GW loop for some time because I bought a 2001 in 2005 and haven't been in the market since then. Sure, I've wandered over while getting parts to see what changes were made. I saw them move the electronics panel, put in NAV, and add ABS, as well as minor changes to the li...

Re: Bluetooth Advice
Thank you for your reply. My understanding was that the Sena was not capable of transmitting CB. Apparently they have worked that out. Also the Sena looks like it will be able to link with other riders while connected with a passenger because it uses two Freewire units, where the J&M won’t. Than...

Re: 2015 Goldwing (40th Anniversary) disappointment
I've been reading these posts with interest because yesterday I was actually looking at a 40th Anniversary model for about $17,000 with about 10 k on it, and comparing it in my mind to a 2017 with 900 miles for $25,000. After looking at the 2017 with everything on it the Goldwing has come out with e...
