Re: GL1500 Transmission Test

If this works, you can hear the snapping sound above the engine. Ignore how dirty the bike is, it was stuck in a shed for 5 months while I was looking for an engine. bjnjzLOSvZY Was this your 98? Thought they fixed the problem in 97. Been looking at a few 1500's and thought 97 and newer was the ans...

Re: The old slow jets again....sigh

Gotcha. The B string I was using is .39mm. The E is .32mm, should be the ticket. Thanks

Re: The old slow jets again....sigh

Which guitar string passes through the idle jet when it is clean? Had some extra B string(second thinnest) and it wouldn't pass through the center hole, but passed through the side holes easily. Guess I'll try the high E string after some more soaking.

Re: The old slow jets again....sigh

Thanks, found a complete assembly off an 83 on ebay for $150. Is the only difference the jets, are other parts interchangeable? Hopefully I can just clean and sync the new ones.

On top of that, was trying to drill it out and was tapping the side of the carb with a piece of wood and the friggin carb cra...

Sent the over priced belts back for refund. Thanks for the heads up, gonna save $50. Funny thing, just past the Gates plant today, there located just outside Atlanta.

Re: Best replacement stator?

Thanks, ended up ordering parts and gaskets from 3 different suppliers, was lucky and got free shipping on everything. Went with all Rick's electrical components (stator, reg/rec, solenoid) and k&l belts. So stay away from the Gates belts? They cost about half the ones I bought, was having buyers re...

Best replacement stator?

Just bought a 1980 gl1100 that has a fried stator. What and where is the best place to buy everything I need to complete this job. Can I get everything from one place? Pretty much need stator, reg/rec, gaskets, timing belts and any advice on what else I should look into doing while the engine is out...
