Re: I bungled it!
I think the "pretty girl" thread is a great idea. When I was in college, my girlfriend's (now wife of 41 years), father towed her old, $200 1969 Valiant down for her to drive at school. Someone at home had removed the driveshaft and I said, " oh no problem, I'll put it back in." ...

Re: I bungled it!
Not something I did, but something I saw done to someone else. Some years ago in my town, I went to pick up my car at the local Firestone/Sears store where I'd left it for an oil change. As I was standing at the counter waiting to pay and leave, an older man charged in, waving his arms and shouting ...

Re: GL1800 engine cylinder cover question
Okay, for the answer and the 150 who viewed this and went away shaking their head ;) , there are no rubber pieces inside the cover. Oh, and the bolt wasn't missing, just a washer. The washers that are needed are outside under the bolt heads and the side marked "Up" really means (to me) &quo...

Re: GL1800 engine cylinder cover question
Thank you Terry. I appreciate the help. I did find one of the lower cover bolts missing and replaced it. The top cover is still leaking a bit, so I’ve got a new gasket inbound to fix that. I’ve thought about trying to reposition it and fix it with some gasket maker but I think I’ll just do a new one...

Re: Broken Kuryakyn Armrest
My wing came with those and they flopped, too. I replaced the nylon washers (top and bottom) with washers from ACE Hardware and tightened them up. Helped some, but wife didn't like them anyway. Gone!

GL1800 engine cylinder cover question
Dumb question inbound , but the story… I was starting to get at the spark plugs on the left side for the first time (2008 GL1800 with 40,000 miles) and absent mindedly removed the TOP cover bolts. I put them back in, changed the plugs, and went for a ride to discover oil leaking around the middle on...

Re: Disappearing Honda Shops
The "chain" (corporate) shop that sold me mine in 2018 said they didn't work on 10+ year bikes either, but they'd "work on mine since they just sold it to me." Gee thanks. I took it elsewhere. There's a good independent shop about 7-8 miles away from them in NE Atlanta area. That...

Re: Valve adjustment necessary at 51000 miles?
Had my '08 checked at 34,000 since I bought it w/28,000 so I should be good until the next one. I'd check them @ 51,000 for sure, but be sure you trust your "guy."

Re: Do I have a good life or what
Sounds like she's a keeper. That's kind of how I got a GW. We wandered into a dealership, not really in the market for another bike and my wife saw my 2008. She turned to me and said that's a pretty bike, you ought to buy that for us to ride. I said, "Nah.." She kept bugging me and two wee...

Re: Tire Choice
I bought a 2008 and put E4's on them because they seemed to hold up well (about 8,000 miles on them at the point that I was going on a 3,000 mile trip last fall, so I decided to replace them "just in case." Couldn't find the rear E4 at that moment and ran out of time, so I tried the Dunlop...

Nice. I've put 2,500 on these so far and they are very satisfactory. Thanks for taking time to comment.

Part needed
Hi guys. Anyone looking to sell a 01-'10 GL1800 fresh air outlet for the right side of the fairing? This is the "footwarmer" louver. Seems all of them are back ordered to China or ? I'd prefer the OEM black one if possible. I was on a trip and mine fell apart. I can find ShowChrome chromed...

Remote?
Okay. Bought my '08 used. It's the basic model with no nav, CB unit, and no factory heated grips. My buddy thinks it ought to have a remote fob to control the locks on the bags and trunks. Yes? No? I don't really miss having one, just curious. Technology has changed a lot since '08., We use blue too...

Re: Feedback on E4's
Okay, so the upshot and finish of this thread (for now), all said and done, was I couldn't find a rear E4 and since I like matched sets, I went with the Bridgestone 704/709 set up. I was looking at 3,000 miles on my trip and ended it @ 2,944. The Stones were weaving when just installed on grooved co...
