Outdated instrument panel

Good afternoon, I believe I already know the answer but hoping someone will surprise me. In 2004, I bought my first Wing and loved everything about it. Ran up to just under 90,000 miles in the first four years. Then I bought a 2008 Wing and loved just about everything on the bike, which made sense a...

Re: Cleaning the rims.....

I have had great luck using an aluminum polish paste and a buffer wheel attached to a power drill and just buff away.

Re: Engine protection plate

Congratulations on your new bike. Curious why you want to remove it? When I am faced with a question like this, I ask myself, “ how expensive can removing it cost me and how upset will I be that I caused the problem”. Basically, how does the benefits of removing the plate compare to the potential pr...

Motor Trike Razor kit

I have a 2017 Goldwing with a Razor conversion kit that includes aqua shields. When I had the bike converted, I had them install fog lights into the aqua shields. My bad, I thought the fog lights were LED, but to my disappointment, they are not. The bike itself has LED headlights and when running he...

Re: chattering noise on deceleration

Quick update on this problem, after spending 8 weeks at a repair shop, the shift plate was replaced with out positive results. I hauled a trailer to the shop and brought the bike home with the repair shop informing me that a comp, eye transmission rebuild was needed. They had ruled out differential a...

Re: chattering noise on deceleration

Thank you for the very informative response. Can’t say that I am thrilled with the prospect of an expensive repair. I do need to get this resolved though as I am heading to Alaska next year. For now, I am in a holding pattern until I get the bike back. I have already given them the ok to replace thi...

chattering noise on deceleration

Greetings, Over the Memorial Day weekend, we headed to DC for the activities out there. While in West Virginia, we exited off of the interstate and for a brief moment, we heard a chattering noise coming from under the trike, (Motor Trike conversion kit). We are riding a 2008 GL1800. We hadn't heard ...

Re: Flushing Brake System

Thank you for a very informative and helpful response. I called the dealer where I had taken the trike and was told that the secondary MC was replaced as well as the fluid. That answer made perfect sense when matched up with your response.

Again, Thanks

Flushing Brake System

I have a 2008 Goldwing with a 2008 Motor Trike Spyder kit. I had the bike serviced and inspected by a Honda dealer in Ohio which suggested that I have the brake system flushed. I drove it home, about 100 miles, and made an appointment with a local dealership to have the clutch system, radiator and b...

Re: Brakes: Front/Back use ratio

c-dub, One question you asked that hasn't been responded to yet is your inquiry as to how long your brakes will last. Tough question to answer because just like your family sedan, the life span of your brakes depends on how you stop and what type of driving you do. For example, if you do a lot of ci...

Re: front wheel wobble

A dealer, sells bikes. Talk to a motorcycle service technician. This is not normal. There is something wrong or several somethings that are wearing out. It could be anything from an out of balance tire/rim, to air pressure, to bearings, and the list can get longer.

I have had great luck with the Kuryakyn hidden trailer hitch. It is nice for when you aren't using it that it is out of sight out of mind.

Re: Not Using Clutch?

Not using the clutch to shift into 3rd, 4th and 5th to reduce wear, simply put, makes no sense. Very very very minimal wear occurs from shifting into the higher gears, unless you completely don't know how to shift. The wear on a clutch, mostly occurs when taking off from a standing stop. Just a few ...

Cleaning front tire

I bought a used Goldwing and the front tire rim has what appears to be several years of built up crud on it. My first impulse is to just throw the rim away and buy new. Before I do that, I thought I would check to see if there are any good ideas as to how to approach this. I don't believe the normal...

Re: RIDING IN THE RAIN.

Rain can be tricky but with proper preparation and precautions it can be dealt with effectively. I will mirror some comments provided earlier. A good rule of thumb is to reduce the number of surfaces you are looking through. If you are going to use a visor on a helmet, then try to see over your wind...

Re: CB Radio

Update, Received the Sena 20S system, both synced to our iPhones easily. Sets came from factory pre-synced so intercom works great as well. Sound is clear and with our tall windshield, very little wind noise. We are both able to listen to music directly from our phones as well. One question, is ther...

CB Radio

Greetings, Just purchased a 2008 which includes a CB radio. The seller, (also the original owner), didn't have any manuals on the bike. I previously owned a 2004 Wing but it didn't have the CB radio. The seller stated that he never could figure out how to use the CB. Are there any known manuals, doc...

Good day all, We are returning Wingers. We bought a new 1800 back in 2004, kept it for four years and sold it with almost 90,000 on the odometer. We have been away from riding for ten years now, and out of touch, but just recently purchased a 2008. I've been busy breaking the bike down, cleaning, in...
