Re: Fifth Annual GoldwingDocs Gathering: August 25 - 29, 2021

Hey William, You will not be disappointed with your visit to Shanksville, PA, to see the Flight 93 Memorial. I have been out there several times, most recently 2019. The place had really changed from my first visit when all that was there was the Remembrance Fence with memorials and patches from all...

Re: So you need to wire your bike for a trailer

Remember if you are wiring up a trailer harness to a 2018 or newer Goldwing to use the isolator like on the Show Chrome harness that includes direct connect plugs, so no wiring cutting or splicing. The complete kit is well worth the time, trouble, and cost. Everything is included. (Show Chrome Acces...

Re: New changes for 2021 GL1800 - finally!

I have to disagree with dtoth's comments about lack of torque in the midrange. I have a little over 10k on my 2020 Wing and I cannot see any lack of torque at any speed range and do not find myself 'hunting gears' to keep it in the best RPM range. My riding in 2020 was lots of mountains, curves, and...

Re: Christmas Gift Motorcycle Washing Soap

So far no problems from using the Windex bottle with Turtle Wax Car Wash. I have been using it on all of my bikes for about 4 or 5 years. My water pressure is about 80 psi if that, so no high pressure. Not sure the bottle attached to the my hose would reach the 2nd story windows because of the press...

Re: Christmas Gift Motorcycle Washing Soap

If the bike is not too dirty, I use one of those Windex bottles that attaches to the garden hose filled with Turtle Wax Car Wash or other car wash product. I use the 'Rinse' position on the bottle first to wet the bike, and then switch over to the 'Wash' position that dispenses soap with the water a...

Re: 2020 Retrospective

2020 was and interesting year for sure, but I, like some others was able to get out there and ride. Between both bikes I managed just shy of 14K miles for the year. Included in those miles were 3 five-day trips with some great riding partners and one was the 4th Gathering. We made it work. Sometimes...

Fifth Annual GoldwingDocs Gathering: August 25 - 29, 2021, Wise, VA

Here it is, January 1, 2021, and we need to get some planning for a 5th Gathering. 2021 has to be a better year for getting together although those that attended the Fourth Gathering had a great time! From what I have seen so far, no date or destination has been defined, so get those ideas, location...

Re: Oil filter question

Anyone have experience with HiFlo Filtro oil filters but me? I have been using them on all my Hondas for many years. They were first recommended by the mechanic and motorcycle inspection station I use here in PA. The same part number has worked for all the Hondas: HF204. Still using them on my 2013 ...

I have a new 2020 Goldwing Tour and am considering installing a hitch and noticed this conversation. It appears no one so far has installed any brand of hitch, but are still looking for a hitch solution. Anyone have one installed and used it, and what manufacture? I have a 2013 Goldwing also that ha...

Re: COVID = More Motorcyling?

Riding more so far this year. Got a new 2020 Goldwing Tour in early March right before the country shutdown. It has been my sanity! So far 7800 miles on the new one and about 2000 on my 2013 'Wing. I have been on three 5-day trips, one of which was the GoldwingDocs Gathering in Wytheville. We had a ...

Not sure of Alan's (azabransky) condition ?! Great riding with you all. It was fun for sure and we had some great routes....

Hey painter, Page back a few pages in this topic for the lodging info and other details about the Gathering. The info is provided by Blue Thunder, one of the organizers. It should be a great time of riding during the day and socializing in the evenings. The last two Gatherings I attended were a grea...

Re: DCT Use Questions

I have a new 2020 Goldwing Tour with the manual transmission and it too has some throttle jerkiness. I attribute it to the fly-by-wire throttle. It is very sensitive especially in Sport mode. I run mainly in Tour mode but still notice the sensitivity. I suppose it is just a learning thing and I noti...

Stay safe and healthy up north. Stories will be told for sure. There are some great roads in this area for the Gath...

I sympathize with rmoss not getting his new Wing. I lucked out and got mine the end of February. New 2020 Tour in white with all the chrome blacked out. Really nice contrast. Now the problem is after getting about 600 miles on it, the Pennsylvania governor has ordered Stay at Home Orders for our cou...

I have one of the MacGyver belly pans on my 2013 Goldwing. I installed it several years ago just as an extra layer of protection for the bottom of the engine and coolant tank. It appears the popular vote is the Tazewell/Marion, VA area for the next gathering so I want to throw a great BBQ restaurant into the list. Check out Wolfe's BBQ in Marion (https://www.wolfes-bbq.com/). This is a must! Over the last few years our riding group from MD and PA route a trip so that we c...
