Re: cover

Best cover, is very subjective. There are so many options, full cover, half cover, seat cover, stationary, portable, compact travel. WingAdmin has some good reviews of a few brands. I really like the idea of the shelter type covers that can be deployed while the bike is still hot, and don't touch th...

Re: G/L 1800 Backup Camera

If all you want is the backup cam, it might be a bit easier to use a Raspberry Pi with camera module so you can get a compatible RBG signal and not have to do the conversion from CVBS. You would also have enough horsepower to modify the signals, if needed, and do the switching. Or just get an RGB ca...

Re: Odometer and tripmeter quit working

Most likely a broken or stripped plastic gear in the speedometer. Real cold weather can make them crack pretty easy when they are that old. If you can still find one, a good speedometer shop can fix you up. However, they seem to be going extinct.

Re: Dyna Beads VS Ride on Tire balancing

I use slime in a bunch of tractor and UTV tires that work in rough areas and are subject to lots of trash. Really works good to keep air in them. However, I tried it in my car and was not happy at all. I later found out that it was not recommended for low profile tires, so that was probably the prob...

Re: Bike won't start

I'm not thinking the accelerator pump is bad, but that the float bowls have leaked all the fuel out so there is nothing left to pump. But the electric pump should recover that pretty fast, so that's why I am wondering if the pump is even being driven when cranking. Out of curiosity have you tried ju...

Re: Bike won't start

Sounds like float bowls might be leaking down? Check the fuel pump to see if it is running while cranking. When you open it up, if you work the throttle, do you see the accelerator pump squirting any gas into the carb? Low battery can also cause all kinds of no start issues.

Re: Dropped bike and now it runs poorly

If it was a California model, you may have leaked some fuel into the carbon canister. It will run rich until that is cleared out of the system.

Be sure the cleaner you are using is a "plastic safe" variety before using it on the switches.

Re: Loud clunk after take off

I take it this wasn't a problem until you did the brake work? With the rear wheel off the ground and the bike in neutral, use a strap or something to apply the rear brake, and very forcefully attempt to turn the rear wheel forward and backward while observing the caliper and drive system. Any play i...

Re: Rant about wire and China trade problems

That copper clad aluminum wire is showing up all over the place. Total garbage! Reminds me when house wiring flirted with AL wire for a time. Some corners you just can't cut. Depending on a service that you don't control is always a risk. The company that did my last anti-theft tracker, folded up ma...

Re: Low Fuel Indicator & Fuel Level Gauge GL1500

One thing to keep in mind for the low fuel light, is that it takes a few minutes to come on, and when it does, it starts off dim then gets brighter. This is because instead of a float switch, it uses a thermal sensor that is kept cool by the gas in the tank, then when the gas no longer covers it, it...

Also as a reminder, the buttons suck. Even more so now that I rode the bike with gloves per normal. Bad choice of stereo lol..... Dang, I was looking at that one, as a good solution. I was planning on hooking up the stock handlebar switches to the remote port, so maybe that will make the bad button...

Re: Tires

"The way it was intended" is subject to how the manufacturer intended the tire to be used. I have had a boatload of bike tires that were marked to spin one way for rear use and the other way for front use as those tires were of a size where they were made to fit either end depending on the bike. As ...
