Add a relay to power the pump like it was in the Prelude.

Re: eyeglasses with a snug helmet... any tips??

For the hair part, you could always shave your head ;) As to the helmet. Some models have channels molded in for glasses. I went from a Bell that didn't and just accepted that it always pressed in on my glasses. Then I got an HJC that has the channel for glasses, and boy what a difference. I did not...

Re: Handlebar grip diameter

I found both 7/8 inch AND 1 inch items listed in Ebay above as fitting my 1982 Goldwing, which leads to my confusion. Then there's the throttle sleeve over 7/8 inch bar and I wondered if that matters to the size of the grip. Has anyone else replaced handlebar grips on their GL1100 before and know w...

Re: Steering stem

Is there a chance that you are running off the end of the threads? Does the stem get smaller or larger where the threads end? Sure sounds like something is mismatched. Can you measure the two threads? Yes you can have the threads on the stem repaired, but probably cheaper/easier to get a used stem, ...

Learn something new everyday. Only the SE had the fader on pod, what year did that start? That 2000 SE knob on the control I remember seeing is a fader, right? Some are on the left control pod, others are in a housing just below the key switch where the emblem is. Don't know what years/models got w...

Old radiators are soldered copper and brass, also the pressure is much lower than water supply pressure, so you will be fine.

Never had any problem at Walmart or Home Depot. Used to be ok at Costco, but last time I was told not to park there anymore.

You can also often use the hose from your compression tester. Just remove the schrader valve in the end, so air can flow the other way.

Re: 1978 Gl1000 almost ready to give up. Help

Bring the cylinder up to TDC, pump air into the cylinder through the spark plug hole. There is a tool with a gauge that will tell you the actual leakage, but even without that, you can locate where the air is coming out to identify the problem area. Listen at the intake, to check the intake valve, t...

Re: Bags won't open

When you turn the lock to it's two positions, what happens if you try the three levers? You will just have to examine the mechanism to see why it doesn't work. Beware that the PO might have removed or damaged parts of it. If you want the entire opener assembly is available, but at $100 it's not a ch...

Re: Bags won't open

No, there is nothing on the outside of the trunk, stock. It sounds like the previous owner had some problem with the lock and rather than fixing it, added that latch. Turning the key clockwise so the slot is horizontal is the unlocked position and the 3 levers operate the latches. Turning the key co...

Re: So Trying To Figure Out What I'm Missing

Oh I'm sure you will learn a lot. As long as you go into it with your eyes open, fixing up an older bike can be a lot of fun. Just be aware that a lot of parts are no longer available, so be prepared to hunt for used ones, or make/modify your own.

Re: 1983 Honda Goldwing Aspencade GL1100A Parts Help!!!

There are plenty of ways to repair the drain plug threads in that cover. Take it to a local machine shop, and they will fix you up. 1. Drill and tap for oversized drain plug. 2. Helicoil or other thread insert repair. 3. Weld up hole and re-machine for original thread size. (this will also be the fi...

Perhaps that was why they were unplugged?
There is a reverse wire going to the radio that mutes the sound when you engage reverse.

Re: Need a new lock for right fairing pocket

One option is to have a key cut for one lock on one side, and the other lock on the other side. You will no longer be able to insert the key either way, but you will have a single key. I have done this for other double sided keys, and just cut a notch in the top so I know which way to insert it for ...

Honda has them. It is the same lock as the fuel door. 37220-439-007 for the lock with key. 37222-463-000 for the clip that holds it in. A few examples.
