Re: How to replace your cornering light bulbs
Measure power at the socket. Does the bulb fit the socket properly?

Re: Locked up brakes, crane strap location?
Without spreaders and a bunch of oddball rigging, there are not too many places where the plastics wouldn't be damaged, if not removed first. You could winch it up a ramp from the front wheel, but that wouldn't help you get it back off. I made some lifting beams to hoist mine from underneath.

The GoldWing is a good candidate to go electric. What other bike could carry hundreds of pounds of batteries without a second thought?

Re: 1999 GL1500 Rear brake adjustment
Nothing to increase pressure except press harder on the pedal or add a booster. Pedal position is adjustable a little. If the rotor is warped at all the pads will retract too much so the pedal will be low. Stainless brake hoses do make a big difference. Brake hose expansion is barely detectable with...

Re: First time posters, say hello!
It depends. Some things are the same for all models and all years. Others confined to just the Interstate, and some to just the SE. The 88-89 have many differences. Then things were mostly common up to 96. 97-00 also carried the basics. However, there were always year to year changes. Like those stu...

If your tire is cupping, something is wrong. That is not normal wear.

Yes. That is a crush washer and should not be reused.

Re: Avon Cobra Chrome AV92 Clearance Issue
Plenty of people run that tire. So maybe you got a bad one? Hard to understand how as the size is machined right into the mold, so a wrong mold or mislabel would be easy to catch. Out of curiosity what pressure are you running? When compared to you buddies, how was the tire width compared to the rim...

Re: CB Radio Won't Transmit
You might want to search here for a CB issue a few months/years back. It seems that some of these units have problems with some receivers especially at close range. I don't remember if the problem was ever solved. If you are getting something on your receiver it's obviously putting out RF power, but...

Re: Avon Cobra Chrome AV92 Clearance Issue
Measure the distance from the rim to the swingarm on each side. That will tell you if the rim isn't centered or if it's just the tire that isn't centered. Also you can look at the guide line on the tire where it meets the rim to see that it is mounted properly.

I learned this trick from a fellow automotive tech, and it has come in handy more than once. Depending on the drip rate you might want to drain the oil or angle the bike so the oil doesn't pool in that spot. Clean the area with break cleaner and a wire brush making sure it is spotless and blow it dr...

Check the two brake light switches. The rear is adjustable, at least when it was a proper motorcycle.

Re: Tires replacement base on miles or age?
I've had both flats and blow outs, front and rear on a CB750F. While never a good thing, that bike was pretty stable and I was always able to get it to the side of the road without much drama. The front blow out was pretty scary, but it was a sidewall failure and the tire stayed pretty intact. The r...

I keep one of these in my trunk for just that purpose. https://www.campingworld.com/octopus-drink-holder-8932.html The wide base pretty much stays put. I was going to attach it, but at first I just put sand in the bottom (there is a snap off cover) Later I swapped that for a steel disc just to give ...

Re: Need help before I brake something
Not to be Captain obvious, but isn't there one good sized bolt holding that on still?
Edit:
Ok I guess that is just a drain plug, but if you take it out you can use a longer bolt as a jack screw to help split that joint.

Ok if you just got the bike run a few oil changes before anything. There are plenty of oil additives that make all kinds of strange colors and such. Who knows what the PO put in there.

There is an adjuster for left/right under the lamp assembly.
