Re: 3 Hole Exhausts?

Oh yeah, they come right off. Just a pinch bolt or set screws. I thought you wanted some. The back of the stock mufflers may be corroded as that is often what motivates people to add tips. It looks like in order to fit those, the stock Honda tips had to be removed. They look like this. 354e15e9-b059...

Re: 3 Hole Exhausts?

I'm sure it was made just for looks, and that design would stay clean. There are more than a few cars that have exhaust fakery going on, too.

Re: 3 Hole Exhausts?

Those are old style Kuryakyn exhaust tips. Everyone and their brother has made tips for the GL1800. Look around to see what is still available. Those are actually sorta fake in that the exhaust is directed out the bottom so the back stays clean and shiny. Wingstuff still has a turned down triple tip...

Re: How to: WET hands in DRY GLOVES?

My favorite Hondaline winter gloves had rain covers that were stored in the gauntlet so they were always handy. The covers also had a chamois patch sewn on the back, to wipe your face shield. Too bad they are no longer made. :(

Re: Adding Rudy's LidKeepers to my GL1100

Some one else needs to take up the production of these keepers even if lots of modern bikes have something like them from the factory. Two of my riding friends have aftermarket cases on their dual sports and need something like this. Maybe that person is you? This is a story about four people named...

Ultrasonic is pretty good at getting into all the small passages. If you really want to remove them, just plan on making new ones.

The SE has lighted controls. I believe your bike is even wired to accept them. If not, you could add that or just leave them unplugged.

Re: Please tell me what this is

Those cables are for the reverse gear. No idea why someone would disconnect. They are tricky to get adjusted properly, but the procedure is all in the service manual.
Looks like stock SE two tone paint with added airbrush paintings.

Re: both tires sit on ground when on center stand

Bad shocks make it harder to get on the center stand, but don't make the wheels lower to the ground unless the shafts are broken. Weak forks will actually make the rear wheel higher when on the center stand.

A small leak will hold pressure as long as it's covered by liquid. It will just take time to leak out.

Re: 96 ASP Wing - wiring and engine noise

Hard to tell from your picture but that might be the C73 wiring connector. My service book is packed away at the moment so I can't confirm. 88-89 are much different from the later years, so not an easy swap but if you have both bikes you should have all the bits you will need. Wiring is different so...

Re: No control lights on my 2002, need some alternative lighting for the dash area

RIVCO had both a glow-in-the-dark as well as electroluminescent decals for the early gl1800s. However, they are long out of production, so your best bet is to put a wanted ad on every GoldWing forum and watch ebay for NOS. Or just swap to newer controls or go the DIY path if you don't feel like wait...

Re: Fog lights always on

Some people wire their lights to be on all the time for more visibility. Another possibility is that it could be a stuck relay.

Re: Scratchy Windshield

Is it a stock Honda or aftermarket? Some are Lexan, some acrylic, some have hard coatings. Some can be polished back to clear while others not so much, or while they can be polished, it becomes a never-ending task that must be constantly repeated.

Re: GL 1800 shut down at idle and now won't start

8 volts at the terminals while cranking with a good battery means your starter is basically a dead short. So, either the starter is bad or something is locked up. Can you turn the engine over either with a wrench, or by turning the rear wheel in gear?

Cyclemax New Website

A new site is in place, but it looks like they lost all the order history and accounts in the process. VIP pricing seems to be gone, too. A lot of errors in the site. I hope they get it all sorted out. One big difference is that now things show out of stock, where in the old system, items not in sto...

Re: 96 ASP Wing - wiring and engine noise

Do a cylinder leakage test or at least a compression test to check the viability of the engine.
There is no factory wiring in that pocket. However, it is a common place for people to install add ons like phone chargers, music players, gps, heated gear stuff, and the like.

They are somewhat special compared to most UJM of the era.

51606-MB9-000
51602-MB9-000

The fork tubes are 39mm if you want to go with some universal clamp on brackets. But if you want the real deal, you are looking for this and it's mate.

Re: Any adverse effect using reverse A LOT for a sidecar?

There are a few things that control and protect the reverse system. A 65A speed limiter fuse under the seat, a starter relay regulator, a control unit, a current limiting resistor pack, along with a host of switches, sensors, and relays.

Re: draining out old gas

Jump the fuel pump and remove the line and you can pump out the old fuel. 1100's have an engine-driven mechanical fuel pump, so nothing to jumper. :) I've used that method on my 1500, but for the 1100, you need to siphon out the old fuel. I have a 94 Gold Wing with CSC Trike conversion. A problem w...

Re: Any adverse effect using reverse A LOT for a sidecar?

Or just put in a turntable like the batcave so you can drive in and out. A few folks have been concerned about overusing reverse, but virtually all threads about reverse problems stems from lack of use not over use. There is an overcurrent safety to keep you from going up too steep a slope. As you m...
