That was the primary reason I went with a 1500 over the 1800. No problem with two helmets in the trunk and smooth ride.

Re: Fuel leak
Nope, there is no fuel above the diaphragm just vacuum. Fuel is drawn up through the jet that needle passes through. My guess is you are seeing fuel climb the needle. You can check the diaphragm for tears, and look around for other vacuum leaks. Lots of idle surge issues on 1500s. Many things can ca...

Re: Use of K&N air filter in Goldwings
If you look at most of the testing done with K&N, they are not an ideal filter for a high miler like the GoldWing.
While they flow more air than pleated paper filters, they do this at the cost of fine particle filtration. While great on race engines, I would not put them on a daily driver.

Maybe put it out in the sun or use a heatgun to help soften things up.

Re: GL 1500SE No Power At The Gauges
The sidestand switch switches ground, so no power there. The light is powered by fuse 11, relay 3, and fuse 8.

From the photo it looks like someone just soldered or brazed the head of a Philips screw on them. So redo the solder or braze job.

It has a battery ignition not a magneto, so you do need some power to kickstart it, but nowhere near what the electric start requires.

Re: Installing a CB on a 1992 GL1500 Interstate.
My '93 Interstate came with factory CB. As I only use Bluetooth in my helmet, I have not yet used it to its full capability. I know it works as a passive receiver through the speakers. Getting it fully in play for me is low $$ priority. But I did replace the CB antenna because previous owner broke ...

Yup. Lift the bike so the front wheel is in the air. Shake and pull looking for play. Move the steering back and forth and feel for a notch when the bars are centered, or any play anywhere.

Re: Reverse works sometimes
First step would be to follow the adjustment procedure and check that the switches are actually being actuated using a meter. You may also need to trace back through the wiring, cleaning the connectors along the way. This is mostly about the cruise control, but it does cover a bit of the reverse sys...

Re: Installing a CB on a 1992 GL1500 Interstate.
Was there a special factory CB for the Interstate? Or does the Interstate radio have the same plugs and use the same unit as the Aspey and SE? I've never seen one on an Interstate, only on Aspeys and SEs. Interstates are pretty rare as it is if it's a different CB, I would think an aftermarket CB is...

Re: 99 GL1500 - Bad Starter Motor?
To avoid draining the battery, reverse doesn't work without the engine running. That is by design. Your issue could be one of many things. Most common to least: Dirty starter button switch. Clean or replace. Starting solenoid failing. Replace. Dirty contacts in a wiring connector. Clean. Starter sti...

Looks like we can chalk this one up to yet another bad ECM. It seems like Honda should publish an addendum to change that code to "bad ECM". It's never the knock sensor.

Re: GL1500 Right bank doesn't run right
Nope, if you are getting fuel squirting from the accelerator pump, then the float valve is filling the fuel bowls. Must be something else. A vacuum line could for sure mess it up at idle, but it would have to be a monster leak to keep it from running at high rpm. You would know it. I guess you could...

Re: 1999 GL-1500 temp gauge not working.
Measure the resistance of the sensor, when cold, and when hot. It's sounds like you got a bad new sensor. Rare, but it could happen. Also check the resistance of the plug to make sure it is making contact to the sensor.
