Re: Whats wrong with my cruise control?

Thank you for the ideas guys. I have not cleaned any switches yet. Is that really a possible cause of it not working at all? When I turn on the ignition and all the dash lights cycle for system check, the cruise on light also cycles. I also just replaced my speedo cable a few weeks back, works fine ...

Re: Brake light replacement

I just noticed this thread is titled brakes lights.... But it kinda sounds like your talking about the front position lights. How does a red brake lens get hazy lol? The brake lights are all mounted to the luggage, I have not removed any yet except to remove saddle bags, so the lower corner lights o...

Whats wrong with my cruise control?

Hi fellow wingers, So now that all my major repairs are done, for now. /crossesfingers Its time to address the non working cruise control. The 1 cruise light does cycle with the key ignition. Nothing else works. It does not light up or set no matter what I do. Everything else on the bike seems to wo...

Re: Brake light replacement

Hello all. I just upgraded to a 1999 GL 1500. I bought it used with 44 thousand miles. There are a few issues to deal with though. One of them is the lower running lights between the turn signal lights. The one that is kinda hazy. One of the bulbs is out.. I could'nt figure out how to get to the bu...

Re: Stupid timing belt question

It's not uncommon to "see" a half tooth off...A full one is a lot easier to spot. I have to get ground level with the marks to line them up.What looks like a half tooth off looks ok when viewed straight on. A full tooth off can result in a poor running engine....maybe a burping in the intake or exh...

Stupid timing belt question

Hi gang, So I did my timing belt Saturday. Looked like original Honda labeled belts rusty and dirty, but not frayed. No stickers showing last change. Might never have been changed :o Bike has roughly 90k miles 1993. Looks like I dodged a big bullet! It was a lot easier then I thought it would be. Ho...

Re: Getting a 93 Aspencade running after 4 years sitting

New update: Timing belt finally done. Gates belts T275 from Amazon, like $40 for the pair. Timing belt was easy but took hours in the hot sun. Did not remove hoses or drain coolant, non issue. Did pull wire for oil pressure sensor and some push tab sensor on top of timing area, temp sensor in radiat...

Re: Quick light bulb question

I'm dumb, and apparently lazy.

Some searching and googling solved it.

194 type bulb.

I see they carry some led's at advance auto parts that are type 194.

Think I will grab a few of those $10 each, for now, until later I will get the ones from Cyclemax.

Thanks,

Quick light bulb question

1993 GL1500 Aspencade owner here. What is the standard stock bulb for the front position lights that are on each side of the head light? I have 1 out and about to replace front speakers so I might as well replace it while im there. Yes i plan to order leds to replace them in another month or so. Bud...

If I were you NOVAwing, I would listen very carefully to the advice that CrystalPistol gave you. He is a retired Virginia trooper and knows what will likely get you a ticket. Of course you are free to do as you will, but you have been told what you can expect with the blue lighting and red on the f...

Re: Death wobble almost killed me!

Thanks everyone for the good advice. Tank slappers, headshakers, death wobble whatever you wanna call it lol. When the handle bars start shaking left and right all by themselves when you let go of both handles. I will check the stem bearings when I can. Certainly important. Best advice, just keep at...

Death wobble almost killed me!

So last week otw to work i was on a back road, straight, rolling hills, doing 30-40mph let go of both handles for a second and before i knew it they were viciously wobbling back and forth. Felt like the bike was going to come apart. Somehow i managed to grab the handles and with all my strength got ...

Re: Question about timing belt components

The spring...It's purpose is suppose to provide the correct tension on the belt when there put on and then the idler plate is secured tight to the block. The springs do not keep the belt tight like the serpentine belt on your truck. I don't trust aging springs to properly take the slack out of my b...

Re: Getting a 93 Aspencade running after 4 years sitting

New update: 1) Dead kill switch has been hot wired by bolting the 2 wires together. Will replace entire assembly at some point later at cost of $100 2) After much fighting Kurykyn throttle grip still stuck 3/4 of the way on. Will have to find some special shaped tools to dig into the bottom to finis...

Re: Question about timing belt components

The reason for changing the water pump on most cars is the pump is running on the timing belt. The 1500 water pump is separate and can be changed without removing the timing covers & they generally last a good long time. Spin the tensioner pulleys and if they are smooth you can reuse them if you wa...

Looking for front speakers 93 GL1500A

I have looked at the site, and online for the speakers people recommend. However it seems none of those are available anymore, or are very over priced. Cyclemax.com has been invaluable for parts so far, but I don't want their old cheap paper speakers, even though they are lower cost. I want this to ...

Question about timing belt components

I love WingAdmins write up on the timing belt replacement. THANK YOU ! I plan to do it soon, without draining coolant as I just flushed it last month lol. However, with my background in car repair, we ALWAYS change the tensioner with the timing belt and also in most cases the water pump. I don't see...

Re: Looking for lighting suggestions, I dont mind a lot but lets not go to crazy

Yes we have lots of dumbass laws about lights in Va, but I don't think they really bother bikers as long as I'm not strobing like a police/rescue vehicle does. Unless the laws have changed ( not ), blue lights at all and red to / on front were often enough just another ticket / stroke on a stop. Li...

Re: Looking for lighting suggestions, I dont mind a lot but lets not go to crazy

Thanks for the good advice guys. I think for starters, replacing most of my bulbs with led's and adding the front driving lights my bike didn't get stock. Also lights on the side of the bags. The brake light flasher module is needed also. Not sure about opening lenses to add led strip lights. Not su...

Re: Hazard button will not stay down

So a few weeka back I hit the hazard lights. They came on but the button got stuck and would not release. I got angry amd pushed maybe to hard, but it came free and the lights went out. Now the button will not lock down it just springs back up and the lights go right off. Any fix for this or do I n...

If no "bites", suggest getting to know nearby GWRRA chapter members, or over in Winchester Chapter F? Join on some rides as a guest. Develop some trust both ways. I used to live in NoVa ( Signal Hill Road in Manassas actually, but that was long ago ) but am now a few hours away and rarely ever find...

Looking for lighting suggestions, I dont mind a lot but lets not go to crazy

Hi again gang! I need lighting suggestions for Blue here. She is stock and not very visible. 93 GL1500 Aspencade. Yes to led, on any and all lights. Not sure about headlight upgrades but open to ideas. I am interested mainly in red and blue lights really, aside from the missing front driving/corneri...
