Can some one with a "stock" windshield tell me what the measurement
is from the top of windshield to the black rubber on the windshield garnish.
I also would like to know what the same measurement is on a Slip Streamer S-166V.
Thinking about replacing my very tall windshield with a S-166V.

Just for comparison, here is a pic of stock (top) alternator and the new (lower) Compu Fire installed.

I went with a new Compu Fire. Very tight to get it
in the frame but it's in there.

Re: New alternator spin freely question?
Ok. Thanks. I was holding it in one hand and turning the 4 blade impeller with my other hand and there is considerable drag. Very very noticeable even if just rotating it slowly. Of course it won't spin at all. I am returning it for a replacement. There is too much drag to make me comfortable instal...

New alternator spin freely question?
Shouldn't a new GL`1500 alternator spin free by hand, right out of the box, without any drag, or at
least with only slight drag (brushes) not really very noticeable.

Re: Alternator?? Not again!!!
Posts seem favorable toward CompuFire. I had a Compufire on my other 2000 SE and put 80,000 miles on it and still working perfect. The place where I bought that alternator is now closed. I now have a 2000 Trike and would like to put one on it. Anyone want to suggest a good place to get a new one and...

Gas tank full, 1/2 full, or 1/4 full
If you are going to let your GL1500 sit for a while, what are your thoughts
about the level of gas in the tank. Better to be at near full, 1/2 full or
close to empty? Or, doesn't really matter. It will have non-ethanol in it.
Thanks,
Sam

Re: Replacing a couple of the relays in relay box left side
Ok, so today I had some time and I replaced the rest of the relays. Took me about 40 minutes start to finish. Its all about knowing how to twist that relay mounting so that it slides out of that close place. Back together and ready to ride. Replaced 3 and 6 first time around, today I replaced 1, 2, ...

Lets talk dogbone fuse
I read the thread about dogbone fuse (55 amp) getting hairline cracks and occasionally creating an open then cooling for a few mins and going back to normal. I ordered some of them and going to replace mine just for piece of mind. Question is this: My other 2000 GL1500 SE had two dogbones on it one ...

Re: Replacing a couple of the relays in relay box left side
AAAAAAAAA, FINALLY Ok, so I went back to the garage to look again. I took the mounting bolts out and wiggled and wiggled, no pressure, just wiggled it over on to its side and it just slid right out completely. So I replaced the 3 and 6 and slid it back in the same, on its side, way that it came out ...

Re: Replacing a couple of the relays in relay box left side
NEXT QUESTION
I ordered two relays (G8MS-H30 GL1500 Relay) from GoldwingDocs to
replace relay 3 and relay 6.
Are these same relays replacements for all 8 of the relays in that relay box?
If so, I am thinking I'll order more and just replace all of them.

Thanks CrystalPistol. I can take a tool to that area and remove a little
body without causing any problem. Worth a try.

Re: Replacing a couple of the relays in relay box left side
THANKS MikeB
I will try pulling the fuses and see if I get some more room.
I'll check the link as well.
Thanks again.
ANYONE ELSE GOT AN IDEA. I am not really in favor of cutting the trike body, may
see if I can take a mounting bolt or two out and let the body pull away enough.

Replacing a couple of the relays in relay box left side
I have a 2000 GL1500 and it has a Hannigan trike kit on it. Have had some loss of power issues and decided to replace relay 3 and 6. I cant seem to get that cover off the box. It has some scratches on it like previous owner may have tried also. Should I just destroy the cover and replace the relays ...

where to get GL1500shifter brace

I followed the link posted in one of the topic posts. It went to an Amazon page but says out of stock
and don't know when it will be in stock. I don't want a look-alike, I want the peppilepew one. Is there
another place to get that one?

Re: It just died sitting at a stop light
Ok on unbolt and re tighten. I will go for that next. Hoping that the replacing of the 30 amp main and wiggling and moving the three connectors on the back of the fuse holders to get a little cleaner connection will eliminate it. It loses all ALL power to everything it appears but in two or three mi...

Re: It just died sitting at a stop light

Re: It just died sitting at a stop light
Thanks ct1500, bluthundr31, AZgl1800, All good suggestions. Appreciate them. I did notice that after it sat for a couple minutes, I turned all the extra lights, things, off, and I turned it back on, it started up fine and I came on home. At home I did noticed that all the presets on the radio were a...
