Re: Thank you very much wingadmin

when I started this topic I had no intention of initiating a "donation" run. however I whole heartedly agree with it and support it fully. there are a lot of sites that push for donations as if it is their primary purpose: I can honestly say that this is not the case here. I have been a " member" fo...

Re: Help with helmet headsets, please!

I personally don't know or can't speak to wether or not there are any issues with any of the builtin bike intercom systems but for my purposes they seem a bit archaic. with the availability of Bluetooth systems that leave you untethered and with the ability to access all of your audio gadgets a BT s...

Re: Help with helmet headsets, please!

I'm in the same boat so to speak. I've been looking at Bluetooth options as it would seem the intercom on the bike is outdated and very limited. I've seen a lot of seasoned riders on the forum talk about sena but to be honest, with kids and other stuff to fund, they are too pricey for me at this poi...

would leaky petcock cause this?

Hi. I am trying to diag my 1978 GL1000. Last year, after storage which was done using fuel stabilizer, my bike was running like crap. I noticed a weeping around the petcock but no dripping. the bike was running but had no power to mention. it could put around on low throttle but cracked and banged w...

Re: Heated grips controller on GL1500 - where to mount it?

I just installed Oxford touring grips and i.have to say they are HOT! of course they have 5 settings but they are really nice. they come with spacers and new bolts to attach the controller to the left handlebar. they have a system which allows you to connect a fused link direct to.the battery. if yo...

Re: Front speaker stopped working

I know my front left speaker is crackling a lot when o adjust the volume button but as far as I'm concerned, even for a 30 yr old radio, the sound quality is terrible! now they i know the fader and rear speakers after the fact then I am curious if the installer did something half added or maybe it's...

Re: Front speaker stopped working

lol. that's usually how I learn to do stuff! thanks regarding the color. actually when I was looking at the.bike to buy it I wasn't impressed with the color. that blue is not very appealing when it is full of road dust, rain streaks and other dirt. but luckily I looked past it and now, after a wash ...

Re: Front speaker stopped working

WOW!!! I can't believe that was the problem! I feel kind of dumb that I never read the manual and saw that knob in it. I remember turning that when I was shining up the plastic the other day. and problem solved! thanks so much curt!

Front speaker stopped working

Hi members! I'm fairly new to the site and this is the 2nd time I find myself coming to you for some help. now I am very mechanically inclined and have no problem tearing into the dash of my 1988 GW and diagnosing the issue but I decided to run it by you guys and gals 1st. What is this?

Hi everybody. I'm new to the site as a member but I've been a lurker for quite some time. I recently purchased a 1988 GW and am currently taking care of any bugs that are present. I found that the inlet hose to the fuel filter was seeping gas so I installed a better clamp to fix the problem. While I...

new member

Hello everybody. I'm a new member but a former lurker to this great site. I have a 1978 GL1000 Vetter dressed which I have had for a few years. I never invested much time or resourses into it as it was always a second bike and never my main 2 wheel ride. I recently purchased a 1988 GW locally with 1...

Hi there. I am following your posts with intent. I am impressed with the way you pay attention to details in both your projects and your subsequent descriptive write up of them. I just purchased a 1988 GW and am doing some changes to it: namely dechroming and just sorting out little gremlins. The on...

Re: GL1500 shift shaft stabilizer mod. No drilling.

Hi. I am new to the site as a member. I have a 1978 GW and just recently purchased a 1988 GW. The 88 is in great condition and as I slowly pick at everything I am seeing this same oil leak around the gear shift. Before I read about the problem here I realized that there was a lot of stress on that s...
