Re: Dunlop Elite 4's

... but get another set ready, they wear quicker at the end, so check them before each ride. I got surprised and wore a rear tire bald on the shoulders, and others have shared the same experience.

Re: Dunlop Elite 4's

Stick with 'em, those tires aren't nearly as worn as E4's I've ridden.

Works fine on Brave browser (Chrome without the Google tie ins).

That guy did a whole lot more dabbing than I would do on a machine that size with saddlebags waiting to snap your leg like a twig.

For about $20, get a long "gooseneck" camera that plugs into your phone and snake it down the intake to see if there are rodents setting up shop on your air filter.

If not, you saved yourself four hours of labor, and you have a nifty camera in your toolbox.

Re: Weather Band when traveling?

I've never been able to hear the darned thing when moving - the robotic voice they use doesn't play well over the stock speakers. Of course, neither does music. I guess that's why I always have my speakers on AUX, and the only thing coming through is radar detector beeps.

Re: Dunlop Elite 4's

I read these reports of Dunlop E4's being slippery in the wet, and I have exactly the opposite experience, no loss of traction in anything other than snow deeper than about an inch. It makes me think that people are grabbing a handful of throttle in the middle of wet corners while leaned over, which...

Re: Tire separation

I don't recommend it, but I wore my rear Dunlop E4 down so far the sipes were completely gone on both shoulders, and it was still sticking to the road in the twisties. It seemed to wear very fast at the end and took me a bit by surprise how far down it got.

Pick up some thin dental picks from Harbor Freight, or get a lockpick set, and one of those shapes is bound to get that straw out.

Re: Highway Boards and a reasonable cost

MBL handlebar risers that bring the handlebars back has allowed me to sit further back just a bit, and my knees are at a better angle.

But the Mic-O-Pegs are what helped the most.

Re: Goldwing Idle Issues (on a fuel injected bike?)

The no-load-quick-off-the-throttle test is a way of identifying a "fluttering" IAC that is getting a bad signal, as opposed to one that is stuck wide open or closed. On any other motor I've ever worked on, a hanging idle was caused by a vacuum leak. You recently changed out the air filter,...

Re: Goldwing Idle Issues (on a fuel injected bike?)

If you're running along at speed and then pull the clutch in and let off the throttle really quickly, do the RPMs crash and does it stumble?

What is the dealer thinking?

Goldwings are smooth at high speed, and act like drunken hippos at slow speed, so they're making you test ride it in the parking lot at slow speed?

Re: Adverts; aaarrrh

I'm going to stick up for Ted a little bit here. Advertising methods have evolved over the course of the last decade, and ads no longer use garish colors, flashing lights, or take up 30% of the page. Perhaps due to the age of the forum software here on GoldwingDocs, the ads are sometimes quite "...

I measured all of the holes, and based on a 40mm throttle body, there's far more holes than necessary in each one.

Come on man, engineers don't make WAGs. ;)

Re: Critters In The Airfilter

If you don't have a lot of time, go to CycleMax and get these. You don't have to frig with wire mesh or screens, and they work great. https://cyclemax.com/inc/sdetail/gl1800_air_intake_screens/329521 For mice, put a 5-gallon bucket in with the bike. Put bird seed in the bottom and a ramp leading up ...

Re: Sticking button, Highgway lights. Spray to use?

Thanks for the suggestion on freeing up "the Sticking Button" situation! The "canned air" (similar to the product used to clean laptops) worked! Spraying air and lube in the gaps will not fix the issue. If you open the switch assembly, you will see why. The actual switch is well...

Re: Problem with passenger position

I've never heard of a problem with the backrest being inclined, but personal tastes vary.

Is this a Goldwing you purchased, rented, or borrowed? Is the backrest somehow installed improperly?

If there is a previous owner involved, all bets are off.
