Re: Headlight Lamp Choice
Good question, and the search will lend you many, many results but all probably in the same vein. The reflectors are fine, and they reflect the light from the filaments of a standard H7 bulb as designed. Cheap Chinese LEDs from eBay don't put the LEDs in the same exact position as the original H7 bu...

Re: Seat ripped. Repair?
Check to see if there is a FibreNew franchise in your area, those guys can repair seats very well, and it usually doesn't cost an arm and a leg. Only cheaper option would be to replace with a new skin, but that might not have the pattern embossed in it.

Re: I bungled it!
It gets like this every spring. A bunch of old men who haven't been able to ride for six months get cranky.
It will improve in about a month, as the number of posts drops significantly and more people post about where they went for a ride, and less about those damn kids on the lawn.

If your ADV is stuck (very common), you'll get road harshness through the front end. Have you disabled it?

Re: Vibration in highway pegs.
I've never felt significant vibration in any part of my GL1800. It is so smooth I can stand a nickel on edge on the console and rev the engine without it falling over.

I'm offended that you are offended.
Even Urban Dictionary says a spaz is a "clumsy or inept person".
There's enough of people claiming to be offended these days, and being offended doesn't make you right. It just means you need to take a break from the Internet.

Re: My passenger is cold
My understanding was that most of the wind and buffeting to the passenger came from the lower part of the bike, and that the lower wind wings would correct that. I think I recall YouTube videos showing those effects with ribbons attached to the bike. Did he not corroborate that?

Re: What to look for on an ‘03
I would check for:
Frame cracks
Mouse nest(s) on the air filter (gooseneck scope cam, $20 on Amazon)
Worn steering head bearings
Tire date codes
The last three would be an indication of overall maintenance - they're your "real life service records".

Re: Gas tank gurgling
Gasoline is such a mixture of junk that it has multiple boiling points. I'm pretty sure the lowest is still over 100 degrees, but that's going from memory, and it's been a while.

Check out Baker Wings, they'll deflect all that lower air around the rider, and reduce buffeting and temperature issues, at least in my experience.

Re: Daytona Beach drawbridge
I think he took the barrier arm in the forehead. You can see pieces of it fly up in the air, and he looks like he's bent down recovering when he passes the camera, then he looks surprised and knocked forward on the bike when it transitions to the bridge and the trailer jumps the first gap. I think h...

Re: Highway peg extension
Once you figure out what you prefer you may want to consider laying the bike over on a piece of carpet in the garage. Make note of what hits the carpet first, and if it's the foot pegs you may want to move and remount them until they're not the first thing hitting (the road). Too many stories of peo...

Re: Brightest LED headlight bulbs?
When illuminated the filament is (as one would expect) a little wire about a centimeter long, if memory serves. The Electrical Connections LED bulbs have several tiny LED squares in a row on both sides, about a centimeter long and fairly well placed in the same position as the original filaments, so...

Re: RPM surging under partial throttle
It's not uncommon, and might be fixed with a simple ECM reset. Without touching the throttle, start your bike and let it idle until the fans kick on and off again, then turn off the bike. If it still happens after that, I'd make sure the battery connections are tight and I'd test my battery with a c...

Re: Are these 90° valve stems ok?
Make sure the Schrader valves inside them are threaded in completely, and make sure the rubber grommets, washers, and nuts are installed in the correct order and in the correct orientation. Tire shops don't pay attention to that as much as they should.

Can only imagine how much slamming around it would do back there. And with the tie downs only being looped over the crash bars, especially the rear ones, it would only be a matter of time before one of them broke off!
