Re: Left signal blinks

I second the switch. When I was restoring my 1500 last fall the same thing happened intermittently. cleaning the switch solved the problem for me.

Buy a new bolt then use a vice grips on the old one. Clamp the vice grips as tight as you can.

Re: 95 gl1500 pilot screw stripped

I stopped by Napa today . The thread inserts they have are just standard metric fine and course threads. Not anything for a pilot screw.

Re: 95 gl1500 pilot screw stripped

I actually contacted Napa also today and the one I pass every day said they have 2 metric ones in stock. Tomorrow I am going to stop there with my good screw and I will post the results.

Re: 95 gl1500 pilot screw stripped

Thanks , but I have a line on an insert possibly at Napa. I just have to bring in the other pilot screw to see if they actually match. I ordered new pilot screws already . I'll try this first.

Funny thing is I just put the same one on my 95 Friday also. I had it cut with a CNC router at work. It does a very nice job and only cost pennies.

Re: Accessory terminal reads lower than Battery

The fuse plug seems clean but I did spray contact cleaner on it and plugged the fuse in and out several times. I just took off the fuse block and took the back cover off of it. The insides look shiny and new actually. It's not a big deal to have the in dash meter read low. It's mainly there for refe...

Re: Accessory terminal reads lower than Battery

I realize there will always be some voltage drop. My multi meter shows a .8 difference when measuring the fuse voltage vs the accessory terminal voltage though.

Accessory terminal reads lower than Battery

I searched the forum for awhile but can't find this same problem. Has anyone ever taken apart the original fuse block on a 1500? My in dash volt meter has read lower than my battery since I got the bike last year. It's hooked to the factory accessory terminal on the fuse block. The fuses read the sa...

Re: Intermittent cruise on light

UPDATE....The light went off and on a couple of times this season in the three days i used the bike. There are still snow banks on the side of every street. So i removed the bulb. It's really easy to reach this bulb . Stand on the left side of the bike. Turn the steering all the way to the right. Re...

Re: Some riders...

I regularly rode my 1100 to work down to 13 deg f. as long as the roads were clear. About 4 years ago 28 deg f. clear roads and only a 20 percent chance of snow, mostly clear skies , I took off for work at 5:30 am. 10 miles into the 22 mile ride their was light flurries. Too late to turn around. By ...

Re: Trouble with cb

I had the same problem on my 95. Its in the wiring harness under the radio. I removed the tupperware and lifted the radio up and down and the mute would go on and off. As i was doing this it started working all the time. Now i cant make it so it works improperly. I think its a dirty connection but s...

Re: Hard Starting Cold

That black/white wire guns through a 4-pin white connector on the way to the ignition coils. That 4-pin connector is behind the right inner fairing panel. That's the panel by your right knee when sitting on the bike. This is where some people put the relay to give full power to the coils.

Re: Hard Starting Cold

You're right of course. I knew it was the coils but for some reason I still said ECU. The relay mod restores the full power to the coils. I'll probable clean the related connectors someday before doing the mod though.

Re: Hard Starting Cold

I live in central Wisconsin.I just started mine this morning. 21 f outside about 30 f in the garage. This is my method. 3/4 enrichment(choke) . Hit the starter for 1 1/2 second, let go. I might have to do this 4 times but it starts when you release the starter. The low power to the ECU is the proble...

Re: Intermittent cruise on light

OK . I usually go for breakfast on the wing on Sunday morning while everyone else is still sleeping. He he. Today we have slushy snow building up so that's out. Out in the garage testing bl/o wire. 1.6v under seat. 1.6v under fairing pocket. Bump dash with my fist (never punch ) and the light comes ...

Re: Intermittent cruise on light

So if i read the schematic right . On C33 under the seat . When i first turn the key on I should get a 12 v reading from the cruise unit and continuity to ground on the side towards the front of the bike with the plug apart. Correct? Then work my way towards the problem.

Re: Intermittent cruise on light

When it works it will come on a few seconds when i turn on the key. The location of those plugs is what i wanted. I can follow a schematic but finding those parts on a bike is a different story. Now I have a place to start when i have some extra time. Thanks.
