So, pull the seat, and the fuel pump out of the tank. siphon all the gas out, no cigarettes please pour in a measured 3 gallons of fuel. get on the left side of the bike, reach in with ri...

Re: fuel indicator accuracy

I don't know if there as any fix out there but my fuel gauge on my 88 1500 is way off! It hasn't really caused me any issues but most of my riding is done below empty as per the gauge. My gauge normally reads empty around the 100 mile mark. I haven't ran mine low enough for the light to come on yet...

Re: cannot hold rpm at 1k

Did you check idle jet size? Has it been updated, recall http://www.goldwingworld.com/pages/sb2.pdf How much pilot screws are open? Mine had original setup, I updated #50 jets to #55. I keep pilot screws open 3 1/8 turns. Carb ventilation updates are done (tubings). http://www.goldwingworld.com/pag...

rant. about the module on the throttle mechanism on the carb

who put the thing there, i took it off, now on my way to installing it back, such a weird angle, i super glued the screws on the little black plastic module (rear left of carb (next to your left ball) to hold them in place, then used a piece of metal wire to kinda hold it where it is supposed to go ...

Re: cannot hold rpm at 1k

The accelerator pump is manufactured temperature compensating, more shot when cold little to none when warm. i bet what u said has to do with the article i read about the hole inside the pump, vacuum bypass, one guy found that the outlet, if u blow in it, leaks back inside the center or something :...

Re: cannot hold rpm at 1k

Re: cannot hold rpm at 1k

Those are three screws around the top of each carb and they are very tight. You will likely need an impact screwdriver to get them loose. Be careful not to ruin the head of those screws. so i have only two screws on each side and they are not tight, means carb has been worked on as i have hoped. an...

Re: cannot hold rpm at 1k

The accelerator pump is not the cause of the RPM jumping from 1k to 2k, pump only helps to prevent a hesitation when opening throttle. that hesitation is what i have. it is more of jumping from .5 to 1.2 or maintaining an rpm in that range specifically. i tried to take off the carb, i managed to ge...

Hey dave, thanks for the advice. jim's how to is what I will follow, But I am kinda unsure about where all the screws are. I located the two main ones facing each other left and right.
