Re: Questions Protocols and Preferences?

Here is what I did when I was performing winter maintenance on my new to my 1500 last December. I Titled the Topic "Doug's winter maintenance" and listed the items I was going to be working on and received numerous suggestions on other items fellow members felt should be included in my maintenance. ...

Re: Right side lower trim

I typically use HondaPartshouse.com, I think there prices are better, and since I'm in IL and they are in Michigan even if their prices are a little higher I save more than a few bucks on the shipping cost. This is for the Aspencade: https://www.hondapartshouse.com/oemparts/a/hon/506c1c17f870023420a...

Here is a helpful article. It is a very simple job and I used Automatic Trans Fluid, I believe it was Lucas 10W.

Re: Gearshift

I have a 94 1500SE and feel like I have plenty of room. Wondering if a previous owner did some work and changed the position of the gear shift pedal. It may also have something to do with your choice of footwear, for example steel toed construction boots versus normal riding boots.

Re: Turn signal relay

Your right, if your just sitting there they shouldn't shut off. I really love the auto cancel turn signals but they turn off quick sometimes. Then again when I ride another bike I ride around with the turn signal on for miles :) Gotta be careful doing that, you'll run out of Blinker Fluid! I ...

Re: Riding across I-90

I have been riding and driving back and forth across that 200-mile stretch of road for 12+ years daytime, nighttime, summer, winter, and have never seen a deer, not even once! There are no deer because the state chose not to put up the dreaded deer crossing sign. We all know this sign encourages de...

Not having a like button gives us an opportunity to get a free entry into the contest because we create a post to say we like a post. :D

Re: Illinois Rider's and the Tollway

I wish IL had a motorcycle specific iPass. I guess I’m going to get their special Velcro strips so I can change it between bikes. I bought the special 3M Velcro-type fastener, which I actually have ended up using for a large number of different things. It's not hook and loop - it sticks to itself, ...

Re: Illinois Rider's and the Tollway

In Oklahoma we have PikePass. the one for motorcycle is a bulky hard plastic box about the size of a, well 3x2x1/2. Mine is glued and taped inside the fairing. Some just throw it in the pouch or in the back. The authority knows this and they know the pike pass is ineffective. Effective about 20% of...

Re: Illinois Rider's and the Tollway

I would call the toll tag / iPass people and ask them. For Texas, I called and asked the folks here about this and they said that for motorcycle riders they did not need to mount it on the front of the bike like cagers do on their windshields. They told me I could keep it in a jacket pocket if I wa...

Illinois Rider's and the Tollway

For those of us that have the (dis)pleasure of riding on the Illinois Tollway system where/how did you mount your iPass? I'll be riding to Kentucky in late May and I will need to get to I-65 south and don't see any way of getting there that wont' add significant hours and or traffic. This is one of ...

Re: Adding Some USB Power Ports

They cost me $132 for the panel without the gauge visor, , the visor is an additional $16.50. S/H is $14.35 USPS Priority Mail Flat Rate Medium box anywhere in the lower 48 states. MY cost is YOUR cost, , ,I'm not doing this project to make $$$, , , just to make your ride more "informative" about w...

Re: Adding Some USB Power Ports

I KNOW this is a "shameless PLUG" but, , , this panel would be a PERFECT fit for your project!! It has room for a nice 2" voltmeter gauge, or smaller if you need, , AND the other "node" would be great for a USB port with multiple inlets, and the fader switch would fit too. The "gauge visor" is a gr...

Re: Adding Some USB Power Ports

You can leave the existing power port and just use this: PowerAdapter.jpg The price is right and the installation couldn't be any simpler. The adapter fits down into the power port very nicely. You may even be able to close the lid of your 12v power port. If not, I'd just remove the lid. There is n...

Ok folks asking for some thoughts/pictures of how you added USB charging ports to your bike that are quickly and easily accessible. Currently I have a cigarette lighter in the front left fairing pocket and I'm thinking of pulling it out and adding this: https://www.amazon.com/YonHan-Voltmeter-Motorc...

Re: Brake Light Modulator

So, memory is the second thing to go. Seem to remember more than four. You were in the right place looking up at the levers for the trunk and saddlebags, above the license plate, they are in those recessed holes and have JIS/phillips screws. Those screws are uncooperative going back in BTW. Also th...

Re: Brake Light Modulator

OEM GL1500 has two brake light bulbs in the trunk and two lower on the rear of the saddlebags as you describe. Sounds as if a flasher has been added after the cable splits for trunk and bags. Most likely place is inside the cover on the bottom of the trunk where the release levers and the helmet ho...

Re: Brake Light Modulator

First, may seem to be a nitpick but brake lights have flashers not modulators. A modulator reduces from full power to partial power and is inactive in low light. Brake light flashers do not have this capability. Important to keep the nomenclature correct to help people understand what headlight mod...

In my haste to get the 'Wing back together I ignored the fact the brake lights were blinking whenever I turned the bike on and now I'm afraid I'm going to need to take it all apart to find the cause of this problem. Re: New Seat for the 'Wing

To the best of my knowledge it is a stock Honda Seat. I bought it on eBay from Everett Powersports. I've bought parts on eBay from these guys before, then it occurred to me that I could simply ride there and get the parts seeing that they're only a short ride away, doh! Lucky you, I don't hav...
