Re: Cruise Control maintenance

So, after all that trouble, did you ever get your surge problem under control? :o
If not, check out https://www.goldwingfacts.com/forums/2- ... ved-3.html
It will be the first thing to check if my surging gets worse....

Re: Gaaak! More Pearl White Purgatory!

Well, 3 topcoats and 3 clearcoats later, and the air deflector is back on the bike. Not a great match, but better than black....

Re: Gaaak! More Pearl White Purgatory!

Some of the Orileys stores have there own paint mixing departments. The silver steel wheels on the toyota needed painting so they took a picture of the wheel and off of that mixed a spray can of silver paint even with the tiny flakes and it was perfect and with a coat of clear look nice. Twenty dol...

Spray the clear before you say it does not match. Clear will change the tone due to different light reflection.

Thanks Tony,
I will try that. I was holding off spraying the clear just in case I could get a better color match, but I'll give it a go anyway.

Re: Gaaak! More Pearl White Purgatory!

Hi, Its not the best picture of my bike and the paint I applied but I've done the trunk, lower front fairing, spoiler, and other parts using the paint from the provider below. It is factory color, so if you use it like any new and old paint you will have apply in layers until you get the best match...

Re: Tulsa extra-tall windshield mounting

Thanks for all the input everyone! It's back to the stock hardware now (thanks eBay). Had to do a little filing to get the center one to fit right, but it's now the way it should be....

Thanks all!

Gaaak! More Pearl White Purgatory!

Hi folks, I have a 93 GL1500SE with one of the variations of "Pearl White" paint. Looking at http://www.goldwingworld.com/pages/kleuren.htm for color codes, my '93 should be Pearl Glacier White NH326P. That is the numerical color code that shows up under the gas tank lid. When I go to ColorRite, the...

Re: Tulsa extra-tall windshield mounting

Reading the other threads on this windshield, I'm considering replacing it as a safety issue. While it does provide great wind protection for me an my passenger, I've heard that there may be an issue if you happen to be passing thru a high fog or condensation area (tunnel) and the windshield totally...

I wonder if they did that because lost the metal slide guides?
I suspect they did. I found some replacements on eBay, and they are on their way. I just wanted to verify that the heavier hardware wasn't a requirement for the taller/heavier windshield.

Thanks for the responses!!

Tulsa extra-tall windshield mounting

Hi Gents & Ladies, I purchased a 1993 GL1500SE last fall and while going over it last week found that the windshield could not be adjusted. When I removed the front cover, I found this mess: IMG_4048.JPG IMG_4049.JPG I was wondering if any of you folks running with these types of windshields are sim...

Re: GRRR! Another hour spent tryng to align the drive shaft and u-Joint!

Cool. Thanks. Not sure why I was under the impression that it was supposed to fit inside. Everything is back together now other than tupperware. Thanks everyone for your ideas and help. Now on to pulling carbs. This 1500 is a bit more intimidating than my previous 1100 and 1200s. Gotta deal with vac...

Re: GRRR! Another hour spent tryng to align the drive shaft and u-Joint!

Thanks for all the help (and comedy) gents. I was finally able to pull it together with a combination of things. One was to have help. As one of the suggestions mentioned, I pulled back the boot, and slid the U-joint totally off the tranny. Doing that gave it a lot of freedom to have my wife move it...

I haven't pulled the U-joint free from the transmission, nor pulled back the rubber boot. Not sure how to do what you are suggesting without peeling the boot back....

Re: GRRR! Another hour spent tryng to align the drive shaft and u-Joint!

I just found the "Can't find the hole" on GoldWing Facts (https://www.goldwingfacts.com/forums/2-goldwing-technical-forum/382848-can-t-find-hole-drive-shaft-gl1500.html). They offered a lot of good ideas, especially the one about bumping the starter while pressing forward on the pumpkin. I even trie...

GRRR! Another hour spent tryng to align the drive shaft and u-Joint!

I see tons of guys saying that this can be a bear to do, and I certainly don't disagree. Has anyone come up with a sure-fire way to magically align the drive shaft splines with the U-joint receiver? I can see the U-joint is slightly pointing downward, and I suspect it needs to point straight towards...

Re: Read wheel assembly - is it supposed to be loose?

I ordered and installed new rubber bushings, and that did the trick! The holes holding the pin holders were very loose.

Thanks again everyone!

Re: GL1500 stereo upgrade/replacement

Very good points. I do have a tall aftermarket windshield, so it will be more prone to catching more dashboard lights. I just wanted people to think about unwanted reflections prior to going out and spending big bucks on bright LED lit stuff. I really like the radio you decided on. Where did you fin...

Re: GL1500 stereo upgrade/replacement

I see one potential issue with this setup. I really like the looks of the radio, however, I can just imagine how it all reflects into the windshield at night. I just installed an LED voltmeter just above the radio area, and now I see double reversed gauges at night at exactly eye level. Hopefully, t...

Re: Read wheel assembly - is it supposed to be loose?

Thanks for the pointers everyone. This was just one of those "well, that was stupid" moments. It wasn't until I removed all the nuts that I realized the pins are not attached to anything inside the wheel other than being snug in the rubber bushings. From the exploded parts diagram, it only shows one...

Read wheel assembly - is it supposed to be loose?

Gents,
I've got the rear wheel off my 93 GL1500SE to replace the tire, got it all cleaned up, but noticed the gear-side (black) jiggles around quite a bit. It may be an intentional thing, but I'd like to know for certain. Any ideas?

I got a similar meter, but this one has an analog portion along with the digital. I haven't had opportunity to see it in the sun yet.
