Re: Strong gas smell on shutdown
I started up my bike, and within 30 seconds had strong gas fumes. Definitely not fumes from thermal expansion. Tore into it, and sure enough...drip, drip, drip. Pulled the carb and found the accelerator pump o-rings were hard and brittle. Put in a new kit, no more drip, drip, drip. Yay!

Re: Pellets for ABS repairs
Why couldn't you just squeegee some ABS glue into those holes? Like, a little bit on your finger tip and wipe it in.Corkster52 wrote: ↑Sat Oct 12, 2019 4:53 pm

Re: Modulator Question
My sense of it is that cagers mistake the modulator for an emergency vehicle, and they try to figure out what is coming towards them.

Re: First significant ride with wife on new trike
We each still have our own bikes, but for the first time we're discussing dressing for cooler temps so we can keep riding (the trike) as the temps drop a bit.

First significant ride with wife on new trike
As some of you may have read, I have a new to me trike, and I've been getting after the deferred maintenance, along with a couple upgrades. Coupled that with some solo road tests to get more familiar with it, assess the road-worthiness and safety, as best I can. Decided to go out for a ride this pas...

Little pocket door blew off
I was out for a ride today, and heard something ba-bunk-ta tunk... I pulled over, and got off the bike to take a look. I noticed one of the pocket doors blew off. What the heck? Walked back up the road about 50 yards and found it laying in the center of the road, luckily nobody ran over it. Not a ma...

Re: 1993 GL1500 Aspencade SE Reverse not Working
Did the stereo install cause something to go wrong, or did something go wrong coincidental to the stereo work? Before I took a deep dive, I'd start with something simple. Battery up to full charge? Or, checking the continuity of the reverse switch. That's fairly non-invasive. See here: https://goldw...

Re: rust cleaning
Vinegar and aluminum foil. First, clean the grime off. Generally speaking: Cut 2" squares, dip into vinegar, and wipe back and forth across the affected area. Or, crumple some foil into a small ball for better hand hold, dip into vinegar, and scrub away. I have some aluminum brushes for scrubbi...

Sharing ABS repair
ABS repairs-small can of black ABS glue from plumbing aisle, along with a piece of ABS if you don't have any. As you go along and make repairs, the ABS in the can will get thicker and thicker. You can buy a new can, and pour a little in the old can to "refresh" it, and get it to the workin...

Re: Survived deer hit at 55 mph
Glad you came out of it ok. I watched a biker hit a deer broadside. It was all very surreal. I was heading southbound, my side of freeway was two lanes. The deer entered the freeway from my right. All traffic slowed down to avoid the deer. The deer hops the center barrier, and trots right out in fro...

Re: Trunk and Saddlebag replacement
The insurance appraiser finally examined the bike yesterday, so I tore into it to see what I had. I don't believe I am up to trying to straighten the frame as pictured and don't feel like spending a lot of money on it. What do you think?IMG_20190910_101318.jpgIMG_20190910_101346.jpg Heck yeah! Re: Sticky grips
Those are the Kuryakyn ISO grips, I have the same ones. If you have any kind of solvent on your hands - brake fluid included - it will start to actually melt the soft rubber parts, leaving them tacky. I had it happen once, I used Goo Gone to clean the gooey mess off, and rubbing alcohol to get the ...

Got my speaker fader in the mail
Woo-hoo! Fader came in today. Needed to figure out how to non-destruct mount it to the existing shelter cover.

Transferred it to a piece of plywood, with an additional tweak:

Re: tri king trike sits very low
I have a TriKing trike.
Couple things to check.
1) Measure the distance between the front fender and the fairing. Should be 5.5-6.0 inches.
2) If you have ALS, make sure it's working, and the bags are holding air.

Got this fader coming. As a bonus, someone added a couple accessory switches:
