Good looking '94 SE. Last year for that color too I believe.
I cant tell you how many people walk up to me and tell me they love the color. I wasnt crazy about it at first but it grew on me.

Re: 1999 Valkyrie Interstate possible trade for 1500SE

I might be interested, although mine is a 94 with 31k miles. Almost showroom condition, almost because im still hinting a trunk pocket cover and left saddle tail light.
Leds all around and a lot of maintenance already done.

Re: 6.5" Speakers & A Double Din Touchscreen Radio

It definitely needs some cleaning up but i think it looks great. Try sanding the edges to round them a bit and it will look 10 times better. Nevermind if you are gonna cover with vinyl (i wouldnt) Great idea. I thought about doing something similar but using kydex. Its really easy to mold. I would m...

Re: Coolant leak, where to look?

Buy or rent a coolant pressure tester. Its basically a hand pump with adapters to fit the radiator cap. Pump it up to 15psi and look around.
Any parts store will rent you one for free

Re: Fork sag

Progressives are definitely firmer. I dont know if i prefer it this way or not to be honest. My springs were so weak that the bike was diving and rising when shifting gears normally.
Now that you mention it i would like to try new linears. Or hear somebodys opinion on them.

I went through the same issue when i did my springs and brake pads. The pads were grabbing where the 2 pins go through them at the top of the pad. Grease them up a bit.

Re: clutch slave cylinder

Every time i disassemble something on my wing i try to replace as much as i can while im in the general area. Due to the age of our bikes ive found out that if it doesnt need replacing now it will at some point, and peace of mind beats any parts cost. Usually its cheap stuff like seals or bearings, ...

Re: Wants to fall over when slow turning or stopping.

Give it a few days and it will become second nature. I also went from a cruiser to the wing and it took me a little time to learn the new dynamics. I also have a yamaha roadstar and the low speed technique is completely different. The gl1500 is top heavy, we just have to deal with it. I just finishe...

Homemade fork spring compressor

I just wanted to share this bit of info for people who want to change fork springs or rebuild shocks. No way i was gonna spend the money on a tool im gonna use once, or twice. This is basically a piece of 2x6 pine and some threaded rod. Its pretty self explainatory but if you have questions hit me u...

Re: another locked trunk

You can unlock it with the coat hanger assuming the assembly is together correctly ( ive done it), not when the latch has slipped under the lock. Its impossible

Re: another locked trunk

The same thing happened to me when installing leds. The coat hanger method wont work. Its hard to explain but it will be clear once you open it. There is a tab in the locking mechanism that slipped down while you were installing it. There is no way around it. You have to drill holes. I drilled 3 9/1...

Looking for a factory service manual.

Is there a free download somewhere on the dark web?. Im planning on doing quite a bit of maintenance work and the manual would definitely make things easier.
I have a 94 SE btw.
Thanks in advance

I havent paid attention to the fans running staggered like that, but its normal for the temp to go a little past have when standing still. As long as it goes back down when the fans kick in its gonna be ok.

Re: Nuetral hard to find

Thats a different issue then. It should have settled in after a couple hundred miles. I would run it a little longer just in case but you might have a defective clutch. You could try to wear it down some just by letting it slip. It might give you that extra thousandth of an inch you need. I know whe...

Re: Engine has 'dieseling' sound

I dont mean to scare you but what you describe sounds like piston slapping. I would absolutely rule everything else out first before even considering piston slap, especially considering the reliability and build quality of these engines. Piston slapping happens when the piston skirts wear out and th...
