Re: GL1500 shift shaft stabilizer mod. No drilling.

What's the news on this?
I'd like to get one for myself, and I'm sure one of my regular clients would want one for his bike, too.
How much moolah?
How to order?
ETA?

want help identifying/locating floorboard parts...

Referring to the pix below: My friend has these floorboards mounted on his '99 GL1500SE, but he broke the pivot/mount thingy and has asked my help in locating replacement parts. I can find NO PART NUMBERS OR MANUFACURER's logos anywhere on the parts. The broken part that requires replacing is the pa...

Re: 1992 goldwing gl1500

At one point in time, doing unrelated service to the bike, I discovered that one of the electrical connectors on the back of the stereo unit itself was a tad loose. The connector itself was holding just fine, but the actual wires' terminals themselves had lost their tightness. Using a simple, flathe...

A goldwinger from Steve Saunder's site suggested this, and after looking it over, I think I'm gonna give it a go:

Re: GL1500 Stripped oil pan??

I don't have a solution to fix it but it sounds like you have been over tightening it. It isn't holding back any pressure so it just needs to be tight enough so that it doesn't come loose. The plug didn't want to come out the very first time I changed the oil on this bike...it's gotten worse and wo...

GL1500 Stripped oil pan??

Does anyone know of a fix for this? My oil drain plug has been getting worse and worse since I first got it...and today she finally just quit getting tight. The bolt is just fine, the threads in the 'pan' are at fault. Is there a kit available to re-thread this hole? All other remedies will be enter...

Re: 1995 GL1500 Troubleshooting non-working Stereo/CB/LCD Ga

This may or may not help you, but it might be a good idea to RECHECK your fuses: I recently found two issues with my stereo, one a while back, the second, just a few weeks ago. One problem was with the wiring harness connector(s) at the back of the radio itself. The problem I had here was the main p...

Re: replacing light bulbs

HUH?!?! My buddy brought me his 1800 to change out the headlamp bulbs...I reached in with my hand, removed the rubber booty, removed the plug, released the spring retainer, replaced the bulb, reset the retainer, installed the booty, and plugged the wires back in without any tools and in a matter of ...

Re: Vibration

I've recently been feeling a vibration on my 1988 GL1500 floorboards, stronger under acceleration . I don't feel it anywhere else . These two statements alone tell me you have a u-joint problem. Remove the driveshaft, oscillate the yoke throughout its entire ranges of motion. Both axes should feel ...

Re: How to remove GL1500 rear wheel bearing

This bearing puller from Harbor Freight works well for those of us that may need to reuse a bearing. It sells for $70, perhaps not something for those who are just looking to replace the bearings, in my line of work, I'm often asked to remove bearings so the client can have his/her wheels painted, c...

I concur. Try plugging it into your 'regular' source of music (ipod, whatever) and putting a gutted tape in the tape deck. When the "tape" is playing, it'll be the music source that you hear...

Re: Extra Brake Part!

I concur with previous post. Remove the caliper the part fell from, remove both brake pads from said caliper. Fit that retainer in place (on the caliper) where the upper (imaging the caliper is bolted in place...)tabs of the b.pads come into contact with the caliper. If the retainer is already there...

Re: Whirring sound with clutch in

Curious! My '94 GL1500SE model has 130K on the clock and I don't hear any 'unusual' noises when I pull the clutch. Near as I can tell, the engine noise remains constant, clutch in, clutch out...or all the time in between in and out.

Re: starting issue

Try wiggling the starter button as you push it in. These critters can develop dirty contacts and you don't even notice til it's too late. Push the button, fails to start, release the button and the motor 'clicks' as the contacts met for a split second with just enough conductance as you released the...

You should be able to lift the side stand, put it in first gear, pull in the clutch handle and crank the bike... sw.JPG This being said, I feel I need to mention that for a coupla years, I'd assumed that my 1500SE simply would not start while it was in gear, regardless of clutch lever being pulled in...
