Re: Ride heigth?

Check the air in the suspension too. My '82 had me on tiptoes as well when I picked it up, after adjusting air pressure, I am nearly flat footed and I'm only 5'7" :D

Re: 83 aspecade radio removal

It seemed to be, what I think was the power supply to the radio system. It's a four prong plug with a green, red, black and red w/white wires. Once I pulled the whole system out no headlamp etc., so I plugged almost everything back together outside of fairing and plugged back into the harness and whe...

Re: Tires

I was offered the Kenda, but went with Dunlop 404s for just bit more. I got burned with a set of Continentals on a sportbike years ago (removed them and threw 'em away) and decided I'll pay a little more for what I know.

Re: Lighting help please?

Got all mine straightened out. Fuse for tail/instrument lights shorting out from the lead to the light bar I removed grounding to the frame. Blade connector to the front brake lever was loose. Damn, I hope everything turns out this easy

Re: Lighting help please?

I have an electrical issue on my '82 as well. No tail lights, dash/instrument lights and the front brake doesn't trigger the brake light . Just discovered this tonight and haven't had time to troubleshoot yet.

Re: Picked up my '82

After disassembling the control unit, I found that all of the switches were stuck closed. I used a lot of contact cleaner and freed them all up, but it seems that there is no spring tension on the switches. The bike is at my neighbor's shop getting the tires swapped so I can't test it yet, but I'll ...

Re: Picked up my '82

I'm going to try contact cleaner first, then will go the Sierra route if necessary. Trying to keep this purchase as low budget as possible. Getting some new Dunlops and the timing belts, oil and rear end lube change today.

Re: Picked up my '82

Right. First determine whether the problem is with the buttons or the radio. Can you tune it using the handlebar seek button? Can you change stations using any of the preset buttons? How about tuning up/down using the buttons on the control panel? If the answer is "no" to all of these, chances are ...

Picked up my '82

Needs a few things to make it like I want it...take off rear light bar, change timing belts and new tires and grips. Overall very good shape and 41,642 miles in 28 years ain't bad...

Radio is stuck on one station, any ideas?

Moisture in the system? I changed my fluid three or four times with no improvement and finally swapped lines, dragging brakes went away.

Re: Winter maintenance log

The brake issue you are encountering are likely due to a deteriorating brake line. I had the same issue on my '87 CBR 600 and a braided steel line was the fix (with a fluid swap). I'm looking at pick up an '82 Interstate tomorrow, and I'll probably become a lot more active here. You have a great fo...
