Re: Front end vibration on my 2016 gl1800

I'd check the front forks for stiction as well. If you've got poorly-aligned fork ends, stiction can cause this kind of jarring.

How to fix broken plastic bodywork (includes VIDEO)

Our bikes are covered in plastic. It's great: it can be any shape, any color, it's light, relatively resilient, and (to a point) flexible. However, it's also not tremendously strong, and a simple tip-over can cause cracks or breakage. As the bikes age, the plastic, exposed to heat (especially engine...

Re: Help

That's a fork brace, you have an aftermarket one - one that I don't recognize. It's clearly cracked and failed.

You can still find fork braces for the GL1100:

Re: How to check Intake Air Temperature System

It's not just for cold weather - the air cools significantly as it accelerates across the venturi, and especially when fuel is introduced and evaporated. It can be a humid 75 degrees outside, and with the proper conditions, you can still experience carburetor ice. Small airplanes have carburetor hea...

Not actually a jumper - you have to cut a board trace, and then solder across the other contacts.

Handle bar weights? A bit lost on this one. Regards, Johnny
Handlebar weights are weights that go on the end of the handlebars, to help absorb vibration, and increase the moment (helps to reduce higher frequency weave).

Re: Shoei Neotec II Helmet - First Impressions

Get a pinlock shield. The fogging issue will be a thing of the past. My drop down tinted visor still fogs up, but I just raise that back up and out of the way. I believe the helmet came with a pin lock clear shield. But the instructions were not great and the benefits were not clear to me. If it is...

Re: Parts needed, maybe wrong place for this?

That bracket is probably going to be tough to find on its own. I might be tempted to take some steel plate, cut and bend it to fit, and drill/tap it for the screws. I suppose you could also tack-weld some nuts in place, like was done on the original.

Re: Rattling in cylinder

Ouch, that's a nasty result. I've not heard of that specific screw backing out like that, but anything is possible.

Maybe you should have just given it more throttle, you could have just blown it all the way out and ejected it from the exhaust!

Re: Throttle/push cable issue

Maybe, but the only way to be sure would be to have someone with the correct cable measure the amount of metal cable that pulls out. Mine I should probably start with giving the measurement of mine later, but i specifically mean pulling all of the metal cable slack out on one end and measuring it (...

Re: Goldwing Wannabes

I don't know what to tell you. "Mbike" or whatever that site is, obviously has bad data in it. They may list a bike as a 2011 GL1800, but it's inaccurate, because that bike doesn't exist. Try to find an actual 2011 GL1800 for sale anywhere. You won't find one. Go to Cycletrader.com and search for an...

My friend has a 2011 honda goldwing 1800 illusion blue so not sure why you said they did not make a 2011? He can't have a 2011 Goldwing, because there was no model year 2011 Goldwing made. 2010 was the last GL1800 model year made in the original factory in Marysville, OH before it was decommissione...

Re: Gear indicator manufacturer

Just remember you can't change the Low Fuel light to LED, they won't work correctly with the thermistor sensor in the tank and just be lit all the time. :( It "Could" be made to work, but you'd have to design some electronic circuitry to do it. :ugeek: The LED would work correctly if the tank therm...

Well, according to the schematic, there is no wire on the harness connector, but it does show the position on the switch. Question is: Is there actually a physical pin on the switch to connect? Goldwing gear wiring 02 (Medium).jpg If not, I'll have to create a logic circuit that detects a lack of a...

Looking to replace my '85 Aspencade with something a bit newer. I upgraded to this from an '83 Standard with Vetter fairing and Honda bags. Re: Compare spyder with Honda goldwing trike

One of the main differences between the two is that the Spyder has traction control and lateral stability. It won't let you get the rear end loose, no matter how much you push it (barring badly impaired road surfaces like ice or oil - can't do much about that). For instance, if you are in a corner a...

Re: Heat shield for leg

The heat shield I use is called "boots". This would not apply to everyone, because it is dependent on the length of ones legs, I would think, as well as the positioning of the highway pegs. I wear TCX boots that have an armor plate in the front that seems to be my contact point to the cylinder head...

I have to say I'm a bit disappointed here, I have always found this site to be friendly and full of helpful info, but I find myself feeling like my comments that are meant to be helpful being dismissed rather than addressed.
