How many accessory switches do you need?

Ok.I have a ulterior motive for this question. Sure everybody wants a bunch of switches to play with while riding but how many are really necessary to quickly operate. What would they operate? I can think of one..Driving lights... This idea would be to operate something with your hand still on the l...

Re: 1996 1500SE Goldwing fuel issues

2 things to look at.Inspect the vacuum line that operates the fuel valve for hardness where it connects. They leak there. Second..when it sputters, loosen the gas cap while driving and see if it restores power in a few seconds..It may not be letting air in the tank.Yes you have to leave the lid unlock...

Go ahead..just put a fuse in that wire at the battery. If you leave it connected you won't be able to shut off the bike.

Re: New in the GL world. A few things if anyone has any input.

Single carb conversion is ok but you get better preformance from the quad carbs. Yes they are tough to get right but once done they last a very long time.Dirty air contaminates them as well as nasty fuel. Fresh filters are a must. You can prove out the floats first before mucking with them...Mine we...

Re: New in the GL world. A few things if anyone has any input.

My 1000 had running issues. I found that the OEM floats we're absorbing fuel and sinking in the bowl increasing the fuel level. I removed the floats and coated 3 times with polyurethane and let dry for a couple of days. Reset the height properly to stop the changing fuel levels. The carbs we're also...

Re: Toggle on/off switch for radiator fan

Locate the wire on the fan thermal switch...Tap a wire to it...run that wire to your new switch...Use the other side of the switch to run a wire to ground.
Turn on the key..flip the switch and hear the fan run...The new switch mimics the bikes thermal switch.

Just pay attention to the relay terminals.
There's either gonna be 4 or 5 depending on what relay you have.Theres plenty of documentation for them.

Re: Stator Numbers

To get the battery voltage back down at a high rpm and avoid boiling the battery... Add a simple relay "fix" to the black wire feeding the regulator. Cut this wire a few inches from the connector. Use the harness side to operate the relay...It will need a ground. Attach a fused (5 amp) #18 wire from...

Re: Leaking oil from alternator

Look at a parts list for the rear cover. I don't believe that the O ring that's on the alternator is for oil. There shouldn't be any oil around the coupler.I would think that there is a seal around the alternator outpur shaft as it leaves the rear cover...Behind the coupler. The rubber cushions won't...

Re: HELP 2 1992 Gl 1500

So you had to mechanically ground that wire to the frame to fix it...Just connecting it to the switch green wire did not work??? That means the green wire at the switch is not connected to ground. While your poking around...look at the main harness about where your left knee is...You will find...usu...

Re: HELP 2 1992 Gl 1500

With that green/white wire NOT grounded(sidestand down) measure with a digital voltmeter for volts on it.This is signal voltage from the ECM that the side stand is down. There must be volts on that wire and go too zero volts when the sidestand is up. This change in signal is what keeps the ignition r...

When I had to do this,I added the old fuel to my truck...bout a gallon/10 gallons of fresh.
The old Ford didn't care at all.

Re: add fuel pump relay to the 1500

When you change the pump, rewire the relay to be triggered from the ignition module power.
Kill the spark,kill the pump.
Just keep in mind that the pump won't "cycle" like OEM.

Brake fluid does not evaporate. It leaks out.If it leaked out of the master cylinder you would see paint damage where it makes contact. Do look under the bike at the rear. There is the clutch slave cylinder. If the back/lower part has peeled paint and corrosion, your lucky. That means most of the fluid d...

Re: Backfire when ignition switched on

Never heard of a work around. If you have the kill switch on stop so there’s no spark There is a simple solution. Yes you need to kill the ignition power when the key is first turned on to prevent this.. One method is to get the ignition power to go on as soon as the oil pressure light goes off. Th...
