Re: "Old man bike"?

This is my 08 Harley Ultra it has 1658 mi.I prefer my 82 Gl 1100 on a long trip,25mi to a gallon vs.42,plus there is the comfort factor.I have rode harleys all my life,But face it who want;s to be working on there bike instead of riding it? Very nice. So, on a long trip, you would rather your wing?...

Re: "Old man bike"?

Here is the test for the wife.Take her for a 200 mile ride on a harley FXSTB even with a stop every 30 miles,Then take her on the same ride on the wing but only stop for gas or food,And I will bet you money she will want the wing. Yeah, at our age now, you are right. However, my wife has travelled ...

Re: Roll Call - Albertans

Curious to see how many Goldwing owning Albertans are visiting this forum. Post a Hello with your location. Hello. I live in Ontario, but I am from Calgary. Someday I may get back there, but it don't look good. I am an Albertan tho, so even the disability of having to live in Ontario is mild when t...

Re: "Old man bike"?

I cant' remember when I was 27. I am 68 but feel a lot younger. I have ridden Harleys and they are loud, uncomfortable, and will shake you to pieces. If you want a bike to take long trips in comfort and with peace and quiet, them you need to get a goldwing. I really enjoy working on my two gl1200's ...

Wow... sucks, that. My ride is less than thirty feet from me right now. Snow is gone off the roads. There is a nice white coating of salt. Nah, think I will just dream about riding.

http://www.goldwingdocs.com/UserPictures.asp?Gallery=442 Here ya go. I went out and snapped some pics to give you an idea or two. The trailer has eight floor rings under the rubber coin surfaced garage floor mat, and the workbench area has foam flooring. One day I intend to put strapring strips on b...

Re: Haven't road since 1985

I keep my bikes in an 18' double axle covered trailer with a drop ramp back door. Also got workbenches built in. It is pretty handy if I want to haul them somewhere away from the snow and the cold, lol.

Re: gps updates

The newest maps for the CF carded goldwings is from October 2009, I think. For anyone that has older, and wishes to move up, I now have some CF cards, and can help you with it. I don't know what the 2010 Canadian version of the wings has for maps, but it is probably 2008, because my 2009 had 2007 ma...

Re: gps updates

Well, yes and no, Buzz. We have the technology to get you updated to Oct 2009 maps, but as of yet, no further (but as of yet, there is not much further anyway). With enough complaints to Honda (waste of time talking to Garmin) or with enough newer technology to reverse engineer the newer NT maps for...

Re: 2011 Goldwing

Yes... there will be no 2011 model Gold Wing. Yeah, that is what my dealership here told me when I bought this bike on the first day of October, this year. They also told me there was no real difference between this 2009 and a 2010, except that I could save quite a bit more money buying the 2009. T...

Re: Gloves and nerve damage

If it is just the last three fingers ending in the pinky, on the hand, this is called carpal tunnel syndrome, and the only way to really fix it is with surgery. I had both hands done fifteen years ago, lost about forty percent of the strength in my hands and it took about five years to get most of i...

Re: End of the year

I rode a minimum of a hundred miles each day last week, and Saturday, I washed the bike and got it all ready to put up for the winter, but did not take the battery out. Wouldn't ya know, today was absolutely gorgeous. So, another hundred miles. I bought this bike brand new on 01 Oct, and now have 28...

Re: Lazy Susan, Cheap

Well, I think that would be a hell of a trick with a GL1800. I can't get the thing up on the center stand for crying out loud, but that is one of the skills I need to bone up on, as I never owned a bike with a center stand before. I'll keep a tryin tho.

Re: Guy laid it down right in front of me

There is an old saying in the motorcycle community. There are three types of biker - those that have been down, those that are going down, and those that are going down again. With 45 years of riding under my belt, I have been all three. Every time I have gone down, it was due to being hit, normally...

Re: kinda new to the wing thing

I will reverse what your brothers told you. Nobody over the age of fifty should ride anything but a Goldwing, but younger folks can too. I only just found this out. I have been riding other motorcycles my whole life and it has been a diminishing proposition. When I was much younger, until in my earl...

Re: This is not a Harley Site But...

I just bought a Goldwing instead of continuing with HD. I am fed up with the company, the pricing and the attitude that seems to follow fifteen minutes after purchase of one of their bikes by the brand new rich kid bunch. Goodbye Daytona and Sturgis, Hello Lake George/Americade, Hahahahaha.

Re: gps updates

Well, three of us here have gotten a workaround. I obtained a copy of City Navigator North America 2009 (not NT) for $90, and three CF cards for about $55, and all three of us now have maps from Oct 2009, for a cost of around $50 each. I don't know if we will ever be able to get newer, but this is p...

Absolutely you make sense. And I fully agree with you. I just don't hold out the optimistic hope that you do in regards to Honda and Garmin being respectable enough to deal with these problems "that they themselves have created". I am a most positive person, but I still have pessimism in regards to ...

<snip> talked with Carlos. He said that the latest upgrade mapping information is already available for 2009 and 2010 Goldwings, but it is on a SD card. Hence, Garmin had the information needed to transfer the latest upgrade information to a CF card that my 2008 Goldwing requires. (2009 & 2010 Gold...

Re: gps updates

What site had that info? Is it an official Honda site? I just checked the honda site here , and it didn't mention what type of card the NAVI uses. However, I have a 2010 and a friend has a 2009. Both of us have the SD card. EDIT: I found where the CF card is mentioned at this site. The 2010 site al...
