Re: Common Goldwing Failures

OK I'm going to stir the pot a bit here.No lies though. The 1800 has had more costly problems than all the other Wing sizes put together. First and foremost is the cracked frames in the earlier ones and they're still showing up.My buddy has an 04 broken right now that Mother Honda is refusing to hel...

Heres a real good thread on trike insurance. Read the whole thread and pay special attention to post number 22. With what youre saying about your insurance company and their answers I would have some regrets insuring my trike through them

Re: Used trike

Off the top of my head I would check out if looking at 01-04 wings the frames for cracks because of the early frame recalls. If its a CSC trike check out the driveshaft because of known driveshaft issues. Earlier model Motor trikes check out the air suspension to see if it leaks and make sure the tr...

Re: Trike cover

I use a half cover on my trike on road trips. Easy to put on and doesnt take up much room and best of all keeps prying eyes and fingers off of the trike. A full cover just uses up too much room and isnt easy for one person to put on. As for waterproof mine started out that way but after awhile given...

Re: can you make a new muffler system quieter

Its funny that the secret you got from that website has been around for many many years. One of the nicknames for those silencers are lollipops and back in 07 I was thinking about putting a set in my cobra straight drag pipes. The cruiser crowd has known about those for quite a long time.

Re: Trunk lock

If you decide to go this route make sure the key will open the upper trunk without the key fob. Some brands are programmed to open the upper trunk with the fob only and the key wont work. But as I get older my fingers work better with the fob than the key.

Re: Brakes

Between the rotor and caliper bracket you have to set clearance usually on the left side. If you have an original tool kit for your bike youll find a small feeler guage. This guage is so you can check the clearance. But in all good faith between you doing the brakes and working on the driveshaft you...

Re: Gel inserts

Why not look at getting an external seat pad instead of modifying the seat. If the pad works maybe keep it on the seat or if you feel ambitious, try to build it into the seat.

Tom unlike you I guess others arent allowed mistakes. Stuff happens while drinking that 1st cup of coffee. Im sure the poster understood my mistake. Now for the poster I would assemble the fork making sure the rod and nut are tight. Now try using an air or electric impact gun on the bolt. An electri...

Re: Not able to split the right front fork

Try taking the ADV valve off and putting a screwdriver or similar into the opening against the cartridge to keep it from spinning and then try loosening it.

Re: Synthetic or Regular Brake Fluid??

All DOT3,4 and 5.1 brake fluid is synthetic (polyglycol and glycol ethers)base. Boiling points are due to each brands formula of additives. DOT 5 is silicone based and shouldnt be mixed at all. Some HDs use DOT 5.

Re: suspension air pump

If its the Honda suspension you should get a screen readout of 0 to 25 with 25 being the maximum. If you get a different pressure readout you may not have the stock suspension system. What conversion is your trike?

Re: suspension air pump

It would depend what youre comfortable with. I run my preload 2 up at 17. If Im trailering I run 25. But my trike has another shock besides the Honda suspension system so I have to take this into account. Try a medium setting and work from there.
