Re: All Balls Or OEM Fork seal kit

Ive used both. At last rebuild I used All Balls and have had no issues whatever. To me either or works best.

Is the 13.5 volts measured on the battery when you hit the starter or just after charging the battery?

A couple of years ago the guys on the 1800 forums were complaining about the same thing. I guess happens infrequently.

Re: Drilling out cylinder lock

I cant remember which way if its left or right. Turn the key and then reach under the trunk and pull the handle to manually open the trunk. Turning the key will just not pop the trunk. And the key only turns so far in the lock.

This is a little pricey but its a good product and does what it says. I have this and the baby bumpers because I have a trunk rack and ocassionally put a bag on it.Ive had it on for 9 years and no issues whatsoever.

Re: Back rest opinions

Ive got a Utopia and Im very happy with it. Originally I had a Khromeworks and later a Kuryakyn but the missus didnt like the support bars for the backrests. Ocassionally she would get bruises on her legs from the backrest supports. The only downside I found to the Utopia is if you have a custom sad...

Re: Left front fork seal

Ive got an 07 with a 3.5 degree rake. First time I rebuilt them was at 27,000. Bottom bushing on the left fork leg was slightly worn all other bushings and seals were in good shape and within spec. Second time I rebuilt them was at 60,000 miles and left fork legs lower bushing was slightly more worn...

Re: Left front fork seal

If youre rebuilding your forks every 20,000 miles with a stock suspension youre wasting your money. The fork seal is underneath the neoprene dust guard on the fork. You can go 40,000 or more before servicing easily. The possible issue here is if its a trike what kind of raked front end do you have. ...

Re: Left front fork seal honda goldwing 1800 trike

https://www.motionpro.com/motorcycle/articles/view/60/seal_mate_fork_seal_cleaner/ I wouldnt ride it too much depending on the leak as you get fork oil all over your brakes and that wouldnt be a good thing. I would try something like this Motion Pro or if you have an old photo negative, try cleaning...

Re: Has anyone changes to LED Bulbs on Factory Lights?

One of the things youll also have to do if youre doing turn signals also is that youre going to have to get a electronic flasher. LEDs dont pull as much of a load as regular bulbs. So when you put an LED in it flashes a lot faster than a stock bulb. On mine I just replaced the brake light/running l...

Re: service rear differential

Also by any chance do you have Kury grips on your bike? Between the Kury grips and aftermarket levers youll find sometimes clutch engagement issues with 1800s as they get older.

Re: 2012 GL1800 Extra Fuse Block

When I put lighting on my bike several years ago I wound up putting the fuse block on the side of the battery with industrial velcro. Never had an issue with it.The fuse block is relayed on one side and the other is live all the time. For my lighting rather than cut into wires or a harness I bought ...

One of the things a lot of us dont realize also is that not all microfiber towels are the same. Some towels will scratch the finish slightly when you rub the wax off or polish with them. They also have a tendency when washed and dried to pick up and grab grit from either the washer or dryer. Theres ...

On the 1800 theres a sequence and you can have issues with the front that affect the rear c...

Re: Seat for bad back

With your bad back no matter what seat you get you will probably have issues without a backrest. I have a bunch of messed up discs and without my Utopia for support riding can be very tiring and miserable. For seats I would look at a Russel day long or a wingsoft custom seat. I have a Wingsoft large...

You can also use the T5 10w30. It doesnt have any friction modifiers and wont screw up your clutch. Been running it for quite a few years and know a few other guys running it also.

Re: Small vibartion

Depending on things it could be something as simple as a cupped front or a worn tread and when turning the sides are giving you the vibration. Some years ago I was on a road trip and ran into a gentleman with an 1800 who was getting vibration on the front and it turned out he had a problem with his ...

Heres a link to Larrys site on radio removal. Having done this a few years ago on my 07 I would recommend replacing all of the bulbs when you do it as youll be chasing burned out bulbs later if you just replace the ones that are out.

Rumor has it that theres been a data breach or as they say these days a hack on all of Verticalscopes forums. And to reset your password you either accept the one they give you or you have to make one up per their rules. I belong to 2 of their forums and this might be the stick that breaks the camel...
